Incorrect to say no aborted landing. There are few videos of runway overshoot at Lukla and the plane comes around the 2nd time

In winter1980 I hiked in from Lamasungu about 80 miles away from Lukla. After viewing Everest from Kala Patur I hiked back down to Lukla for the flight back to Kathmandu. The landing area was just a grass field with grazing Yaks.

Appreciate pilot caliber and courage.. It is like do or die airport👏👏

1993 rutted gravel runway. We were number 1 to land in a flight of 3 twin otters. Touchdown was hard and we stopped halfway up the strip. Got out and found a blown tire. Got out and walked up to the terminal. The other planes had to return to Kathmandu. Half the town organized into rope pull gangs and got the plane up to the pad in a couple of hours. I found a nearby airplane bone yard full of damaged airplane parts from prior hard landings. My adventure had just begun.

The worst airport in the world.

Flew into / out of Lukla in 1980. It was essentially just an airstrip with a gravel runway. Exciting and not for the faint of heart.
