If your planning on buying a new RV, DON'T. If you must have an RV buy used. The last decade or so RV build quality has gone into the dumpster. Worse yet the warranties are rigged against the consumer. You can't even sue them but have to go to arbitration. Yes, the hire and pay the arbiter. Hardly fair. Check out Steve Lehto's videos on the topic. He is a consumer advocate lawyer dealing specifically in the Lemon Law. But has dealt with RV related law suits.
First off the quality has been the same for the last 30+ years so even if you go buy a used one it doesn’t mean you’re gonna get a better quality unit. The guy you’re referring to has a lot of great information for certain states not every single state. great guy good information not for every single state every single situation if you listen to his video way more carefully, he even points that out so to give the advice you’re giving is not even close to 100% accurate you’re probably close to 30% accurate
Let's be honest, nobody has ever called you "honey badger"...
Actually, they have
@HBRVLifestyle 🤣🤣🤣. While I've got you here, what do you think of cruiser stryker during covid years? Looking at getting a used version of their bigger bumper pull toy hauler models from 2016 and up.
@ Stryker is a really good toy hauler just extremely heavy and a lot of times most of their floorplans don’t hit or fit the side-by-side so you need to make sure to measure individually everyone you go see to verify fit
@HBRVLifestyle planning on getting a 3500 dually, looking at a pioneer 100-5 sxs so if I get a longer floor plan garage that shouldn't be an issue... are there any other brands comparable to stryker I should look for?
@ Genesis Supreme
how wide is the garage? let's see a 4 seat RZR Pro R in there. I still can't find any footage of one in a toyhauler.
It’s 80 inches wide. It’s hard to find anybody putting a pro R in anything.
Sounds like they still need to "Purchase credits" to be able to sell. I guess they can do that and add that cost to all RV's sold in CA. Not sure of that would put it out of reach for most consumers meaning they still can't sell them in CA.
Motorhomes across the United States are already outside of peoples realm. They have gone up way beyond the normal RV community can afford anyway so if you’re gonna bill, let’s say 50 to 60 a year to satisfy the people that can afford a new motorhome. Why are you hesitating?
I was wondering the same thing it’s up you know insulating the inside with inch and a half or inch foam but I like that idea what that insulation it’s a lot easier to work with
Why don't they stand behind their products. Seems like scuzy, unethical business practices. Can't they do the right thing.
Good question
CARB is a bunch of unelected bureaucrats with too much power. They should be shutdown along with the PUC and Insurance commissioner…..all of which are simply extensions of gov newsom gov corruption.
Agreed
You can apologize for the CARB all you want. Bottom line, manufacturers will have to purchase credits, read permission, to build ICE motorhomes for sale in CA. Cost that will be passed on to end purchasers. Oh, credits will be a diminishing resource as the CARB percentage increases. Some chassis manufacturers are never going to build products that are EV. There would be no market for them even if they did, considering how motorhomes are intended to be used. CARB is committed to ending ICE in CA. That is stupid and needs to be stopped NOW, before it becomes critical to the marketplace. Your apologizing for CARB actions is counterproductive.
This is not an apology. I think you totally misunderstand the entire situation. This is anti-Clickbait. First off if you go to the video that has the email response from the CARB you will notice that they are way more credits than necessary to do combustion engines. By the way, they don’t have to be electric vehicles they have emission vehicles and only a small percentage.
@@HBRVLifestyle I think you're missing the point. They are going to keep cranking down the screws, steadily increasing the percentage of NZEV required in the state. If clickbait serves to draw public attention to the coming storm, then so be it. The issue is serious enough that one D-pusher manufacturer has already notified its dealers that it won't be able to provide product. Anyway, your silly sound effects seem like you're gloating over the "misinformation" and I do not appreciate that.
I understand you don’t like my style. I hate clickbait and lies. And too many TH-camrs in the RV space used this a view and cash crab! I’m not going to sit back and let people give out false information without getting checked! If you don’t like me, that’s is ok….tons of people hate me
@@HBRVLifestyle ah, come on man. I don't hate you. Here, I'll give you a like. Then we can be friends. I tell you what I hate though - the CARB and pretty much all things CA government. Nobody in the RV world should believe anything the CARB says.
The problem of the California air resource board is there basically a dictatorship. This is why anytime the CARB does anything I contact them to verify the information because otherwise it’ll be all screwing but I agree. Agree with you government should stay out of the RV industry.
Airstream has NEVER been spacious. But they're still RELIABLE and retain their resale value. That's mainly bc of the Airstream fans keep paying high prices for the name.
Good point
Click-bait and I am sick of it, thanks HB!!
I think the issue is that consumers choice is limited by the regulations that limiting of the manufacture abilities will push prices up in certain markets, if not others. Really this burns down to tax money for carbon credits, that's all governments want here is the tax money......
A lot of truth there. But I also think this is the chassis companies way of extorting the RV manufactures as well. I got a feeling that the chassis manufacturers are going to hold the six states hostage unless the RV companies agree to pay across-the-board more money for the chassis.
Sounds like they put limits on em. Screw Limits. Why take on the risk of being sued for failing to jump thru the hoops? They could and should just do business in another state where they don't have to jump thru the hoops. Then if you wanna pay someone to jump thru the hoops for ya, well then thats gonna cost more.
That’s the problem that people don’t understand they don’t have to jump through hoops it’s something they are already doing. Most of the chassis manufactures make zero emission vehicles for sale in California at all kinds of weight ranges, but they have chosen not to use the credits for the RV industry. This is a cat and mouse game between the RV industry and the chassis manufactures. It’s a who has the bigger leverage to raise prices or lower prices.
Dont go to Jiffy Lube or buy Hyndais. I Do my own oil changes and drop the used oil to my local Jiffy Lube
Easier to just stay out of CA. I don't blame any of the manufacturers for leaving or staying out of CA instead of "complying " with their made up rules. Later.
I don’t blame you for feeling that way. let’s see what Trump does and then go from there
What a great video series you have on this.
@@TheGnomeontour thank you. Spread the word so everyone knows the Complete Truth!
what is a "roof on the ladder"? 0:09
The ladder is to get to the roof so you can maintain it
Wrong Wrong Wrong. Since none of the RV OEM’s manufacture their own chassis and depend on larger auto OEM’s the ones which manufacture zero emission units are the only ones who earn credits. The auto OEM’s would never allocate these credits to RV OEM’s nor is it allowed. How do you think Tesla has made most of its revenue? Not by selling cars but by selling EV credits. Same here, if the RV OEM’s want those credits they will need go buy them. This additional cost would significantly increase the price. But hey I’m sure you know more than both of the largest California news papers SF Chronicle and LA Times. Both have also confirmed the ban on motorhomes in California unless the rules change.
You are completely wrong sorry I confirmed this with the California air resource board and I have the email to prove that I am correct
If you email me your email, I will forward you that email to show you that the California air resource board law does not separate RVs
We also have a right to be told the truth about how EVs are hurting the environment as well and are not sustainable.
Good stuff
My bad, how many of the chassis makers make enough zero emission chassis so they can sell the other chassis? Does Freightliner or Spartan qualify any chassis?
According to the California air resource board, most of the manufactures of the chassis have the credits or buy the credits to build the motorhome chassis. For whatever reason they chose not to.
Good to hear this data! Thankyou for that.
You’re welcome
How many RV companies are using zero emission chassis?
They don’t have to lol
Thank you for taking the time and doing the analysis. Now, I can back to shopping for my forever DP, here in Oregon! 🙂
You’re welcome
Always appreciate the bottom line truth thank you. I agree the black smoke per se has got to go and that is nothing new.
It’s just interesting that the RV manufacturers can still build motorhomes for the next 10-15 years as long as the chassis manufactures make a certain amount of zero emission vehicles in that weight class per year
@@HBRVLifestyleThey can make them but nobody will buy them. That probably still counts though. 😅
Noise filter? Insert wife joke here..

Hi there, I’m trying to sell my late brothers 2016 Forest River Vibe. The consignment offered at CW was a joke. What can I do aside my RVTrader listing? It’s paid off, and I’d even be glad to trade it in, but for a much fairer value.

Man, this is really awesome. The only complaint I have is in living area has massive wasted space next to the entrainment center. If they’d shift it closer to the bed/couches they could put in a huge pantry. By adding that to this floor plan would be amazing. Not everyone wants toyhaulers for side by sides. We have a Goldwing and would rather have a massive pantry because we like to spend time traveling and need room for clothes/food/dishes and dog crates and their supplies
Over 85% of toy hauler sales is to folks have side-by-side. That’s why they are mainly built for side-by-side.
@HBRVLifestyle wow! I wish manufacturers would start at least offering options that other people with toys would prefer. I'd think that even people with side by sides could use a decent pantry for food
Here is the thing, they make every type of toyhauler out there and ignored the 4 seat 77 inch wide market, if you dont like it, and dont own a 77 inchwide sxs, dont buy it, and dont complain. I 100 percent agree, none are perfect, because everyone has their own oppinions.
Any opinion on ATC toy hauler?
They’re OK very overpriced for what they are
Are you working on a best/worst top 5 for fifth wheel toy haulers? Currently in the market and leaning towards Genesis. Your videos are very informative and have helped us immensely in our search! Appreciate you doing these for us folks on the west coast!
Yes, I’ll have it ready next week
@@HBRVLifestylelooking forward to it, thank you!
Just watched your last video. Looks like your cold is gone 👍
I’m still congested. I just took a lot of over-the-counter medication before I film the video.
the repo market is hanging itself right now,,and i dont mean repossession of an RV...lolol
I'd counter just a bit. If you're 57 years old and start your own mobile RV service business in a "high density" RV area (Arizona, Florida, etc), then all of those RV owners, new and used, will be knocking on your door....as long as your rates are reasonable and your service is fast.
This will help me alot because i am using a Wilderness 97 31.5 travel trailer, and after this it helps because l am giving this to my daughter. And am going to get a 5th wheel RV. I was already looking at alliance, this helps.
Nice
we were born and bred to be consumers.. thats our job in the U.S. we are just like our inept government.. spend like drunken sailors.. the only way to stop people from spending is the banks need to kill credit.. and the Fed will not let that happen.. we are a consumer based economy.. if we stop spending it's over..
yep, my bad, I totally had the federal reserve print me 8 trillion dollars in 3 years so i could go buy that new corolla and a ps5. sorry!

Could demand increase for RVs if housing continues to become more unaffordable? Have you considered testing for Covid?
I don’t have Covid. I tested for it already.
@@HBRVLifestyle That's good. Be well.
Feel better! Im coming off a month long cold..
Yes, these are the times. Yes, people living way above their means. Will and are going to be underwater, and life is brutal at every turn. I do hope and pray for you and us all. That's all l have to say.
11-4-24: RVIA release September new Class A RV shipments and the news is devastating: Class A shipments from factories plummeted to only 442 units in September from 718 a year prior. That's only 15 shipments of new Class A motor homes per day for the entire nation. Nine month shipments of Class A motor homes is down 38%. Four years of Biden inflation and high interest rates have killed the US Class A motor home market just like Jimmy Carter did in 1980.
but we did have to buy food

With Jayco, they use plywood and double sided azdel vs GD still uses luhan and OSB... it seems to me luhan and OSB are cheaper materials, with your experience is this a big deal or nothing to worry about?
@ that’s nothing to worry about. It’s all what I call a Fugazi a Fugazi. It’s all fairy dust.
