It is the details that count
มุมมอง 1973 หลายเดือนก่อน
Bushes, trees, cows, river and the whole layout. Can’t wait to get into the details.
Making a River?
มุมมอง 4563 หลายเดือนก่อน
Matching river water color is harder than I thought. The falls and river bed came out great but I need about pour with the right color. Let me know what you think.
Grandkids and trains
มุมมอง 1713 หลายเดือนก่อน
Watch your kids and grand-kids play with your trains. It is most enjoying and rewards. Mine give me some great ideas as to what to do next. Lets watch them play with some trains and then create a Hobbit Hole scene.
#22 River Banks are hard to do.
มุมมอง 7373 หลายเดือนก่อน
In my layout I try to keep everything as close to HO Scale as I can. I also try to copy things that I have seen around my area. This river bank is one of those things. Please enjoy watching Mike’s HO Scale.
Carving a River out of Styrofoam.
มุมมอง 3894 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is why I like using Styrofoam. I can change it around, carve it out or do anything to it. I am trying to make this river a model of the one near my house.
Seeing this at this stage and knowing where it’s going to end up is really cool.
Well, I’m glad somebody knows where it’s gonna end up.
Papa, are you able to take the train set up out of the basement to a train show? Does it come apart so you can move it?
No. The last one was able to come apart, but I made this one to stay in place. I’m not taking it to any more train shows.
The bridge idea was really good.👍
Thanks. Do you think you’ll be able to do this?
Bark makes it look so good!
Yes. Imagine all the things around you that you may be able to make a scene out of.
Looking great just seem Ken’s update and it is also coming to get her realgreat
Thanks
Good deal. Thumbs up 👍
Thanks
Hey Mike I enjoyed the video
Hey Mike 👍
Love your mustang.
Too bad the Hobby Lobby trees weren't exactly what you were looking for. That's an interesting way to build your own tree. The moss looks pretty good for a tree! I like your filter tree too. That does look better to put the ground cover on the sprayed tree. I hope that glue mixture keeps the ground cover powder on. That tree looks great! Thanks for this video Mike!
Wow, looks great! 👍🏻
Thanks
Mike tree are not tidy they don’t look uniformed your moss tree looks great as it is
Right
That's so cool! Very creative! Godspeed!
Thank you
The filter tree and the moss looked good 👍 adding the ground cover did help. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
Thanks
Mike very nice job 👍
Thanks
Mike how’s it going you are the bob ross of tiny tree making
LOL. You made my day.
Some good finds at Hobby Lobby…have mixed in HL scenery items on my RR…
I'm enjoying the ballast application methods. I like the noise of the metal wheels on the train and it does "sound" more real that way. Trains rumble as they go down the track. Cool; trains, race cars, and airplanes for Mike's layout! You forgot "SUBSCRIBE" Ken! Thanks for this video. It's fun to hear you two talk model railroad!
Going back to the old book 📖 😊
This is a serious question - is Grand Trunk Railroad where Grand Funk Railroad got the idea for their name from? I think they might be from Michigan, though. I guess I could look it up.
Nice Train Layout Bro
Just think of the cost to change 75 pieces of rolling stock. That's 3 boxes of 33" Walthers Proto metal wheels with metal axles. Add to that the cost of changing all the couplers to body mounted Kadee couplers. I just finished my 4th box of 100 each wheels. Got to buy one more box. Gets expensive. Then there's the cost and time to change the magnets out on about 10 Pittman (open frame) motors to neodymium (rare earth) ones. Happy railroading. Cheers from eastern TN
I like your railroad hat Mike! Hobby Lobby seems like a good store for model railroad stuff! I do like the evergreen trees you got. Thanks for this video Mike!
Hobby Lobby works in a pinch for me. I’ve used JTT trees and Woodland Scenics trees most of which I’ve bought from hobby shops on eBay. It just saves me time and money in the end
Wow you cleaned up
Thumbs up 👍 thanks for being us along with you.
My pleasure
Layout is looking good, i like hobby lobby for the quick pick ups like you got but definitely sparse on the train items, wish they carried more.. nice progress
Thanks 👍
Thanks for showing us how you get the cars changed over to the steel wheels. The cutter is kind of difficult to use but you seem to have it figured out. Wow, that does sound better on the track Mike! I like the hole you have in your train set like what Ken did. That sounds good with all 6 cars running. I'm glad you figured out that the cattle car was derailing because it needs some weight on it. The ten cars went well and the added caboose. Thanks for this video Mike.
Mike dose the sound change with the steel wheels
Yes but in a good way
add some weitght to the cattle car or place the cattle car towards the rear of the train due to it's weight. nd problem solved. enjoy.
Did that. Thanks
I've never used the cutter, and have had zero issues pulling cars with an athern engine bud. And, YES, we are talking about the same thing, changing plastic wheel sets with metal wheel sets.
Interesting
Looking forward to the next train talk. We have some interesting topics
Converting the plastic trucks to steel is something I need to do as well. Thanks for sharing this!
You bet!
Ok you’re trucking along! 😂 If you want to lube them use Dry Silicone PB blaster has it in a spray can. It will dry, and not collect dust. And it will leave a nice coating to help prevent rust.
I wondered about that. Thanks
New subscriber, came over from Ken's channel, looking forward to your content! Godspeed!
Hey, I know that guy!!!
I was thinking of Ken giving Kia some bubble wrap to play with 😂 Nice visit!
Next time!
If you wait till just before it sets, you can use a damp sponge to smooth the drywall paste out. Less mess.
Mike what dose your wife think of your hobby after over fifty three year my wife puts up with mine but like to complain when I come inside especially in the winter I tell her it’s only dirt as my hobby gardening I have a small glass house
She is very supportive. That part of the basement is mine to do whatever I want.
Been a while Mike hope you are ok
Just busy driving coach, flying plans and summer activities. Thanks
andddd, i mentioned to him to buy a basic athern locomotive, it will change your whole outlook on what power a ho scale engine can have stock out of the box.
Interesting
subbed, and Ken shared your channel.
Awesome thank you!
Good work and keep it up.
Hi Mike & it's is Randy and i like yours video is Cool & Thanks & Mike & Friends Randy
Wow nice plan
Like the WWII fighter plane.
me 2
Looks pretty cool. It’s too late now, but I think I would have blended the gravel and rocks together more. I like the gravel on the banks, adds a nice touch.
You are right. I was thinking that too.
Awesome job Mike!
Thank you :-)
The addition of the blue really helped, maybe another layer of the blue will bring it more depth. The detail you are wanting just takes time, be patient.
Thanks
The thing I have the most trouble with (I mainly make display models of space rockets and airplanes) is backing up and looking at it from further away. Some of the little details can be cheesed a little, some of them need to be perfect. Currently working on a model of the rocket that took John Glenn to orbit.
I would like to see some of your work. Do you have a channel?
The amazing thing is the grand kids are all having fun from the very start. And every visit is a new start 😊
You know it.
