"At the completion of the recording session on this album, while sitting in the Goodman Sound Studios listening to the playback, Joel Hemphill asked me if I would write the liner notes. Wondering what I should write, I knew the answer when I listened to these great songs of Truth.
There are many things I could write about the talents of The Singing Hemphills and their down to earth gospel music. Just listen to the tremendous capabilities of LaBreeska as she delivers the song. AN UNFINISHED TASK. She and Joel are especially proud of their twelve-year-old son Joel, Jr., admirably playing drums for the group.
With the guitar virtuosity of Tim McKeithen and the piano artistry of his lovely wife Dixie, NO DISAPPOINTMENTS IN HIM is a song to remember.
Bill Tharp is the fine bass player and gives an added splendid per- formance when he sings the old timer, JESUS IS COMING SOON. David Robbins, steel guitarist, is another of this successful group.
I'm sure all the aforementioned people will agree with me that one of the big reasons for the success of the group is in the person of Joel Hemphill. Not only is Joel an accomplished musician and singer but he has composed many great songs, six of which are recorded on this album. He is also one of the finest preachers of the Word. Both Joel and his fine wife, LaBreeska (my niece) pastor a wonderful congregation at the Pentecostal Temple in Bastrop Louisiana.
The sincere dedication to this work is the basic reason for their being one of the highly successful groups in gospel music today.
It is with great pride that I write these words about some people I really know and love. I pray that the spirit of the Lord visits you when you listen to these great songs as it blessed me while I sat atthe control panel producing this album for The Singing Hemphills and Canaan Records.

My dad has this album. We played it often. I listened to all of it. On side two some the scratches on your record are in the same place as the ines on my dad's records. Listening to tgis rexord brings back sweet memories.
Thank you for uploading these albums. Naomi was one of my dad's favorite singers. I love this group.

My Mom and Dad took my older brother, my baby sister and I to see them in the 60's
I love this type of Gospel Music, raised on it. I'm 79 years old and I can remember going to the Long Beach Memorial Auditorium to hear and see the Blackwood Brothers perform. I don't remember my age but, I remember Momma buttoning my coat up. I wasn't in school yet.
THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL, AND, I LOVE THIS ALBUM!
I have seen these people years ago when I was a boy. They were great then and still are.
