Replacing E36 Climate Control Module
มุมมอง 3746 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video I finally fix my E36's climate control and air-conditioner problems! Replacing the climate control module in my car has resolved all the previous issues I outlined in my "Bypassing E36 AC Clutch" video. This is what you should do if you have those same symptoms occur on your vehicle. I also outline those same symptoms in this video.

Hi, to anyone that watches this I hope it helped you out. Leave a comment and I'll make sure to answer any questions if I can. Thanks
Where did you get the wire from and the switch let me know and thank you
@@jnl6814 think I just had em laying around. Maybe Jaycar ? Check new video about replacing climate control module, I fix it for good that way
Hi, Max...I have one doubt, I watched your video and I have same trouble, I have a e36 european model and I read that you need replace climate control for another same model, but at your video you replace the climate control european for a model climate control from USA, it is correct?, and now are working all controls? thanks.
@@TheMarcougo hey, I didn't actually check any of this, but it ended up working ok regardless. I can't speak on as to whether the climate temps are exactly what they should be, but it goes hot and cold ok, and very satisfactory. So it worked in my case. All controls still working now no problems
@@maxgadd OK, I´d like to thanks for your anwsher, and have a nice week, thanks.
@@maxgadd Max.... I'm having difficulty removing Climate Control Box from the place where it's installed, I've tried to remove it several times, but it doesn't come out, and I'm afraid of breaking something, please, would you have any tips that I can remove this box without breaking?, thank you very much.
@@TheMarcougo it was very very difficult for me also. Only tips I can give, is just what I mention in the video. In this video I think I mention how I did it, just but really trying to wedge my fingers under. Hopefully the video helps a little regarding this
@@maxgadd Thanks!
Great footage
Your amps must be draining your battery if you haven’t figured out by now using the cigg 12v is getting contstsnt power. Use trigger for your remote turn on
Mine gets no power unless key is turned.
@@maxgadd 🤔 all the US model e36 Ive owned (8 of them) have all had cigarette lighter sockets that are hot all the time. So unless the Australian market cars or Eu or where your from did things differently because that’s where my comment stemmed from but anyways cool

Has your ac system ever given out on you with this method?
the wire came loose recently but AC doesnt seem to be the problem. ill reattach it soon. its definetly not a permanent fix, but i dont drive much so its fine.
Would it be possible to wire in the pressure switch?
Perhaps, you mean as to bypass the pressure switch ? This is what I aimed to do, but if you want to actually just make the pressure switch always be on, you could do that. I don't know how, but I'm sure it's possible, though that may have other implications I'm unsure.
Im having some issues here, so i just discovered the pressure switch socket just plugged out, i wonder what original cable for pressure switch?
Unsure sorry, id have to investigate
Pay the $200 bucks ya cheap bastard.
Hey could you help me out, my ac compressor is good, i tested it like you did it with the positive wire of windshield washer motor it clicks but my aux fan or condenser fan not spinning, any idea that may leads to why it's not working? I tried to swap 2 relays on low and ac relay nothing happens.
Do you know if there is gas in the compressor? If the gas is too low from a compressor leak the electrical system won't turn the system or the aux fan on
Also your fan might just be broken so you might have to test if it works at all. Otherwise if it's just not getting a signal I'm not sure how to fix that as I haven't tried. My aux fan seems to turn itself on intermediately so I didn't have the same issue.
I havent checked the gas in the compressor, but i tired to connect or jump the pressure switch wires the aux is working so could this be the pressure switch is broken? Or any other reason?
@@_J20_ yeah perhaps, when you jump the wires does the AC produce cold air ? If it's not cold then could be a gas leak
Yeah it produces cold air. I'll try replacing pressure switch i hope it's the one causing this problem. Because if it's the wiring daaamn E36 wiring is nuts.
Hi, thanks for the video. I have a bad IHKA and am unable to get an aftermarket in my country as the e36 320i 1992 is regarded as an older model. I have disconnected the module and i want to find a way of starting my ac, so i bumped on your video. Ideally, the compressor should spin intermittently but in your video it wasn't show. So i was wondering if i can rewire the pressure switch as a trinary connection to power the clutch and the condenser fan. I would appreciate you guidance and explanation.
Do you have an electric condenser fan ?
What you wish to do is definitely possible, though I recommend finding a way to turn the compressor and fan on individually first. Once you know how to configure them as always on, you can then figure how to wire the pressure switch.
Unfortunately I currently don't have the info to help you and I am away from home for the rest of the year, so I can't go and test these things myself.
You may be able to find a module on ebay, though i assume ebay is not an option for you ?
Thank you so much for the reply. Getting the module to be shipped to my country is a problem. Looking at the pressure switch and the trinary, both looks the same but don't know if it would function the same way. And do you have an idea which wire is the signal from the module to the pressure switch. Thanks once again
This pen review has changed my life
Good to hear
Can you fit 6inch speakers by footwell or not?
Well the standard speaker size for the BMW cutout is 5.25 inch I believe (should mention it in the video, same as rear speakers). But that being said, you could make some modifications yourself and on the outside of the panels mounts a 6inch speaker
So you could definitely figure out a way to mount 6 inch speakers, though they would not fit INSIDE the panel like 5.25 inch speakers would
For 6 inch speakers, you would likely have to screw the mounting brackets to the outside of the plastic speaker cover that comes with the car
And also cut a hole for the 6 inch to sit in.
Thanks man 👍
That moment when theres an eel in the UQ lake
Yep, that is this moment
Dear Max, you clearly didn’t get a Leidos pen. The pen had a laser pointer, three spare batteries and a stylus incorporated into it. We were also handing out Leidos branded multi tools.

Glad you enjoyed haha.
finally a high-quality pen review with soothing soft music to put me to sleep at night
You are welcome
Im having same issue with my e39 would this cause an over pressure situation and blow the lines?
Yes, this is a possibility however only if the condenser over-heats. Turn your car on and see if the condenser fan is turning on. If the condenser fan isn't turning on, then the condenser may over-heat. For my car, I didn't have any problems with over-heating as 70% of the time my condenser fan would work, or I would be driving mostlyfast enough for the air to cool it down.
Any questions let me know! If you prefer, shoot a message on Instagram @max_gadd. I have contact info on my youtube Channel info page as well 👍. If you reply to these comments that will be fine as well.
My sedan doesn’t have the middle part that you can pull down
Damn, that's a shame bro. You still looking to put a subwoofer in ?
You could entirely remove the rear speakers, and just leave the cover on, and stick a big woofer in the trunk, and those empty rear speaker sockets should let some of the sound through. Otherwise you will have to make-do without a subwoofer.
Can i fit another size of speakers into the front, as from the factory its 5.25 inches but can i fit 6 inches in there ?
Hope all is going well since we last talked over Instagram! Let me know if you have made any progress with your speaker upgrade.
