what would you say is the tone in this poem?
I feel that the tone shifts depending on what the speaker is referring to and, in typical Romantic style, Shelley tends to evade being pinned down. When the speaker is talking to Night, the tone is one of intense longing, desire, and even frustration that Night is not coming swiftly enough. When the speaker refers to Day the tone is much more dismissive and even derisive. The same could possibly also be said about sleep and death. I hope that helps a bit.
