"Thank mercy"...sounds so stupid. She uses this phrase in all of her books.

The main character is insufferable. I typically like Darcy's main character, but Mara ? Not even a little.

Excellent story line. The narrator is excellent. Well worth listening. Surprising twists and turns in the story line. I’m hungry for more. Compelling.

Omg the narrator does an amazing job on the voices of the unknown people! I don't know how else to describe them but she does a fantastic job of making them sound real and scary!

I am an hour and a half into this and mara is annoying ASF. I stay rolling my eyes at her. The comments have me excited cause it seems like everyone dislikes her 😂

I've listened to quite a few of Darcy's books, but I can honestly say this one is my favourite so far and nothing to do with the characters name. Love the twists.

Adding my thanks to the long list of people who are overjoyed to see another Darcy Coates! What an amazing writer she is, normally I get a little bit bored by the time I’m three quarters through, but not with DCs. Every page has my complete attention and I dread the end as I’ll just have to try to find another one of her books to read.

The amount of book this relative young woman has written is incredible. So are pretty good , most rather bland more cozy horror with happy endings . It's all about finding the good ones .

Darcy Coates books don't pretend to be great writing. They are formulaic but they work with that and keep readers coming back for more. If you want more literary fiction that is spooky, go for Susan Hill or there's a good book out recently that is classically Gothic, haunted, letters from Elspeth. There is always a lot of thumb and lip chewing in Darcy Coates's books, often a scary female ghost figure, sometimes helpful, ditactingly handsome men and a scattering of zombies. I keep coming back, so something works but manyother writers have an edge when it comes to literary quality. Coates is prolific and does very well in a competitive market.
