Surviving South Africa
Just a guy from South-Africa with an obsession with Fishing and Outdoors.
We are back at Mosselbay Point!!
Today the fishing was slow so I decided to opt in for catching the smaller reef species called Karel Groot oog/Fransmadams.

Massive!! Garrick caught at Mosselbay point on 8ft Rod.
What went from a fun spin session for Bonito's turned into absolute chaos when this Massive Garrick grabbed my lure. These fish fight hard but are clean fighters which means they don't try to cut you off in between rocks but mainly fight on the surface which is nice. Tackle I used: Rod: 8ft Okuma Matrix Reel: Okuma Inspira isx-3000A . Braid: 15lb Grinder Fish was safely released to give another...

The Garrick were crazy in this estuary.

We went out for an afternoon adventure soon to realize we were in for some fun with the Garrick in this estuary.
This irresistible Lure catches a lot of fish, Untangling birds from fishing line.
Today I went out testing a Lure that the fish could not resist. I was fishing for some Mackerel at one of our spots and could not believe how good this lure worked. Ended up helping an African OysterCatcher get untangled from fishing line and just inspiring a few people.

Today I tested the Okuma Inspira ISX-3000A we did some light tackle fishing at Mosselbay point to see how eager the fish are to eat artificial lures.
Quick trip to Gouritzmond
In this Episode my friends and I decided to take a quick trip to Gouritzmond. We camped for the night and went back home the following morning as the temperature dropped from 31 degrees to 10. Not a lot of fish were biting in Kanon except for the small Leopard Catshark that I caught.

Well done man! Released as well👏🏻
Leka man, looks like fun! 🎉 I used to fish those Berkley camo worms without a jighead and use a dropshot rig or fixed rig and running trace with light ball sinker with a small no 7 hook. Caught grunter, stonebream, steenbras, and das with it. Tried with jighead once but kept getting stuck in reef or wasn't heavy enough always got bites in white foamy water casting into gullies. It worked extremely well for me in Eastern Cape, but for some reason fish don't love it much here in Cape Town and Overberg prefer natural baits. Apparently, works well in Breede not sure if water temperature makes a difference.
@@FishFinder7965 was extremely fun, I want to try it in a different place where the fransmadams aren't a pest. I have a few spots in mind. But for now it I need to start focusing on shad and kobbies. Still trying to figure out what the audience enjoy watching. I want to go to the breede but I need to plan it well because we are moving into a rainy season.
@@Surviving-RSA Struis is the place to be at the moment, since December it's been producing kob, elf, and geelbek mostly during the week for some reason. Haven't gone myself yet, but been keeping an eye on reports. Think it's because the chokka are in abundance at the moment. Tight lines, hope to see you land a big kob in your next video !👌💯
Wouldve been better if we saw you fishing for tips for how you did it
@@elmarcarelse9569 I can Make a full video on this, thank you for the feedback🙂
Is dit kleinbrak?
Ja dit is😁
what's your rod and reel setup?
@@chrismeier8066 The blue rod is an Assassin Tempest 7ft MH, the one with the white tip is an Okuma Matrix 8Ft MH. In this case I used the Okuma Inspira ISX-3000A Reel for both of them spooled up with 15lb grinder braid.
@@Surviving-RSA your preference between 7 and 8 ft ?
@@chrismeier8066 it depends. For rivers I prefer to spin with an 7ft just because I would be spinning for a long duration or have ultralight tackle for the grunters etc. When it gets to surf and larger fish I will use 8ft and up specifically for spinning 12 ft would be the max the 12ft will give you more opportunities to land your bigger fish and cast your lures further. I just enjoy using light tackle since I have to play the fish rather than whinching it out.
@@chrismeier8066 in this case 7ft is a lot more enjoyable since it is lighter in weight than my 8ft matrix
Thank you
Please let me know what species I should target next. I have a few ideas from targeting Cracker, Poensies, Galjoen when season is open.
Awesome catch and release. Well done.
Thanks for the release
Always happy to catch and release.
Lekker mooi vis
Let’s goooo 💥🙌
Nice video man! Cool to see the rest of your tackle 😎 Love that Assassin Sling Bag
Let Me know what you guys would want to see next!
When is pt 2??
@@Adventures-With-Tris Hey Tris, I'm aiming to do it tomorrow or on monday. I'm halfway home currently have a lay over in Colesberg. So would be spending 5 hours on the road tomorrow before I get home. I'm not sure if you are familiar with the layout of South africa?
@@Surviving-RSA ok and yes i am familiar with South Africa and my family want to move down to Dana Bay or some place near these but we cant find a place for us
Nice video man! Very informative 👌 Always good to see other fisherman’s arsenal of tools for targeting fish!
Thanks, I see we both love the Berkley Gulps. Really struggling to find them in my local tackle shops after creating a video of them in November :) Looking forward to see more videos of you flicking them around in DBN. Your editing is on point 🦾
@@Surviving-RSA Haha yeah! Those Sandworms feel like cheating lol. They're also hard to come by here in DBN. Keep up the great videos 🙌
Please Let me know what you guys would like to see next on the channel, fishing wise how to target certain species etc.
When are going to do the video??
@@Adventures-With-Tris I will do it sometime today, been busy with work lately.

@@Adventures-With-Tris sure, tackle as in reels and lures?
@@Surviving-RSA Both pls
Are you fishing today at the spot 23/12/24
@@hanrouxpotgieter97 unfortunately not today, busy with work. Do you need any tips?
I'm coming on holiday to S Africa in a few days time and bringing some fishing tackle with me.... I will fish this exact same place sometime between Christmas and New Year.... thanks for the video - has given me some good ideas
@@fishing-fiend it's something you can do with the kids, with some bigger rods and either occy legs or some squid you can catch red romans and the occasional poensie
@Surviving-RSA just bringing light lure rods with me.. it's difficult to transport big fishing rods on a plane
was n lekker mission
