The thing is, Otto was born in the right family. The defeat of Honkai and the survival of PE's efforts for CE was carried by Otto. The sins he committed was what allowed the main cast to succeed in the first place. Otto quite literally knew the beginning and the conclusion, in one of the passages he talked about the 6 adventurers that achieved godhood (Main cast), the13 sinners (Flamechasers) and The final chapter - Beyond Twilight. He talked about the three topics in a single passage, he knew everything before it even happened. And that is what makes Otto's end even more tragic. In his False God Otto form you can see a thorn in his hands and feet, and that Kiana impaled him on a cross, quite literally mimicking Christ's death and subsequent resurrection. His entire story is carrying the burden of sins in order to "Fight for all that is beautiful in the world."
If he wanted to survive, he would’ve likely gone through with the plan without ever having Kiana and co anywhere near him whatsoever. His actions of retiring and bringing them to him served only to stop him, even his words, which can usually lead someone astray, guided them to do their all to stop him. It’s funny that the greatest villain in the world wanted to destroy the world to save the heroes in the end. Burn it so that scum wouldn’t be let go. And to save the life of his ‘heart’.

In another universe in SoQ, even if they falls in love, have a child and things. She's still gonna die young for some reason, as if fate doesn't want Otto Apocalypse to have a happy life with Kallen Kaslana

Otto was a genuinely nice person, who was born in the wrong family. Kallen was the only one there for him in his broken childhood. When she died, all his reason to be virtuous was gone. Really well written character, easily my favorite.
I can't Blame Otto for loving Kallen so much Kallen was a person that seems impossible to exist on earth
It makes it all the more sadder when you realise he never saw himself as a romantic partner for her. He just loved her. The first thing he wanted to do after saving her from execution and hearing her love for Yae Sakura… was try to reunite them by sending her to the east (where he quotes ‘she is fond of’). Kallen loved humanity a lot, and Otto loved Kallen more than all of humanity together. Even though he truly came to care for his adoptive granddaughter, he still couldn’t let go of the girl who was once his heart.

Otto wasnt a genuinely nice person, he did everythinf for kallen but even 500 years ago he never did anything out of genuine kindness, he only did good to impress kallen back then
