My dad can say he is the only drummer in the world that watched Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York hit the cymbal of his drum set with a shepherds cane.

I was born in Stuart, Florida on November 1,1964. I remember a lot of places there. I lived in Palm City until 2003. I live in St. Lucie County now.
My family moved to Stuart in 1972. We would frequently travel to West Palm Beach for shopping and entertainment until they built Martin Square Mall. I loved our little mall. In the 1980's, Stuart had 5 arcade rooms. Lum's restaurant was converted into Tommy's Arcade. Barrel of Fun in MSM. There was another near the Thirsty Whale restaurant, one on east ocean Blvd and one in Rio that used to be the Wayside Inn Restaurant. Anyone remember going to the Stuart Youth Center in the summer? Great times!
So glad I found this video!

That guy taught me how to play back in the day - what a super nice guy and terrific drum teacher!
Home... It's been too long.
I came to live in Stuart in 1972 but visited from Sarasota since 1963 and I sure miss the Stuart of the 60's and 70's. I can remember there being only one theater, the Mayfair Theater, and it showed only ONE movie at a time. Then in the mid 70's they renovated it to show *TWO* movies at the same time which was a big deal back in those days - at least in Stuart. Stuart has changed tremendously over the decades. Sadly, it no longer offers the affordability it once did (although certain people, mainly the wealthy, probably thinks it does). But I remember Stuart when it was just like THIS and I sure miss these simpler, less expensive times.
I was born there in 1968 and my dad still lives there....Stuart will always be my home!
I was Born in that hospital
no way, I just graduated from that same highschool this year, I was just able to make it out, idk why maybe its cause it the sailfish cap of the world, but im born and raised stuart fl, true native haha I love it
Nick Page taught an entire generation of Rockland County drummers how to swing!
Yes it is
This is very off-topic, but I see this video has attracted a lot of people who lived in Stuart in the 1960s and 1970s. I am currently writing a dissertation on the history of I-95 and am, in part, looking at the resistance to I-95 in Martin County, Florida. If anybody knows of any resources that could be useful to me (or of individuals who were involved in the resistance), I would be most appreciative! My e-mail is evansmarkt@gmail.com. Thanks!
Special thanks to Gregg Braun of Martin County Audubon Society in 2009 and their librarian, Bev Poppke, for contacting us (Alice & Greg Luckhardt) about the 16 mm films they had. It gave us the opportunity to review those films and then in turn see that they were preserved.
I miss Stuart even as it was in the late 70s. A lot sleepier than now, but still fun. Live in West Palm Now.
If you'd like to post your email addy here, I'll get in touch.
I'm in north FL now. I have one nephew that lives in Jupiter. Both my daughters moved out of the area before I left so I have no other family there.
I can not tell a lie. This video was originally posted by Stuart Heritage Museum. If you do a search on Stuart, FL 1964, you'll find it. I fell in love with it but it was lengthy (almost 20 mins long) so I took it and trimmed it down to a little over 4 mins. Most people wont sit for 20 mins but will for 4 mins. Stuart was my home for 28 yrs. I raised my 2 children there. I left in 2009.
I lived there for 28 yrs and have seen many many changes over the years. Its a great area, good schools, nice weather.
Wow. This is my home! It's so different now than it is now, but still the same! Thank you so much for sharing this chawni1956!
haha!! thats my town... it looks way diffrent good video. It was cool trying to compare whats the same and whats changed.
Amazing! I need to move here. :)
I live here, it's not like this anymore
