Do you have a link for this little harness kit? We have ‘96 ZJ 4.0. Many thanks.
I found it.
Mate what's that Knock in the engine.is that normal??????
Lifter tick, super common on these xjs after about 200k, I’m almost at 300k at this point. It doesn’t cause any problems it’s just the hydrologic lifters sticking or being warn it’s just an annoying sound, I’m actually replacing them this summer.
Great video! I need to do this to an XJ I just bought. Question: why did you need to replace the clock spring? I assume there’s a reason, but can’t think of why it’s necessary. TIA
Thanks I’m glad you enjoyed it! When your airbags go off it often breaks the clock spring along with it, the clock spring also plugs in directly to the back of the airbag, so if it’s damaged internally it will leave a Airbag warning light on your dash regardless if you replaced everything else. It also controls your horn and cruise control so they won’t work either if it’s damaged. Hope this helped :)
I had 3 wires ?
Different years had different wires, I know some of the earlier years only had just one, you’ll just wanna search the part for your jeeps year, if you use eBay where I got mine they have vehicle for verification to make sure you get the right one, but the install process is just that same. Good luck! :)
Which side does the high goes on
Low side is on driver side and the high side is on the passenger side
Doin my np231 tcase today in my xj and MAN those 8 bolts holding the tcase on to the trans is a B and a half 🤣
Yes they seriously are, especially the top ones.
What code did you have
Hey, it’s been a while since I made that video but I believe it was P0135-O2 sensor heater circuit malfunction (Bank no.1 Sensor no. 1)
“This is kicking my ass” lmao thank you
You’re welcome glad you enjoyed it!
Your lucky if u have junk yards that have these we don’t and I need one bad
If you can’t find one there it’s also good to check things like FB market place and offer up for people parting out these old jeeps in your area.
@@jeepstuff9189 I have and I have asked them questions and they are like we are not sure if it works but u can put it on and try it if it doesn’t work then come get another and another I’m like yeah right so I do all the work and let u know if it works or not lol
@@jeepstuff9189 450.00 just to try it to see if it works lol
Can I have the other one plz lol.
Badass job
So my horn is stuck apparently they have two ?? High and low please help i have a 99 jeep Cherokee sport
They would be on the same fuses so still check those and then I’d say try to clean up the grounds and check electrical connections first then think about replacing the horns
It could also be the clock spring if you have no cruise control and have a airbag light in the dash
Great video young man! Thank you for sharing. I'm having problems with my speedometer bouncing up and down. It's probably a faulty speedo. Thank you !!
I’m glad you enjoyed the video and good luck with your speedo!
Good vid thanks for making it!
Looks so much better without it!
I agree, I’m glad I decided to remove it
👍👍
Too far away from out flow of exhaust, needs more heat to do the job.
ha ha ha great video. Getting a kick out of woody and buzz just hanging around. lol
Very informative ty sir. I learned everything I needed to know about changing my transfer case.
Thank you I’m glad to hear it was helpful!
Super slippery, looks like fun
Did u have a front cat on ur jeep? Its on the front exhaust pipe kinda looks like a bulb?
Not on mine,I believe in the later years they did the two cats closer up to the engine but my xj just has the style with one down by the muffler
@jeepstuff9189 yea mine is 99. I know what ur talking about on the 00-01, but I have this bulb on the front exhaust pipe. I wasn't sure if it was a cat or not.
Yeah I’m not sure, maybe it’s an after market one that the previous owner put on or something.
Thanks man I needed this
Awesome I’m really glad to here it helped you out!
Eres muy bueno ...felicidades , te quedó muy bien 👍👍
Awesome video, young man! Very detailed and informative. Thank you for sharing!
Does it work with emisions? I live in california and trying to find one for my cherokee
I don’t believe the one I used will do cali emissions standards, I’m in Oregon so it’s a little less strict. But I got mine on Amazon, there are the plenty of options there for pretty cheep, you will just need to read the item specifications in the description to see its emissions info. Good luck :)
Where’d you get the catalytic converter from? Also, what are the inlet and outlet dimensions?
Hey, I ordered mine off of Amazon, there and eBay both have quite a few cheaper options for Cherokee cats, and for the dimensions I don’t remember off the top of my head but I think it was 2” outlet and 2 1/4” inlet.
I want to replace the harness and all the wires all the way back…but don’t know the part…1996
Here’s a link to the part I got on eBay should be good in a 96 as well! www.ebay.com/itm/155158953996?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28&srsltid=ASuE1wRuvITWnCttzZ5l2W0u3wDLxLTggy3NIBCRnlM9s8f6bPVRwQaeLS0&com_cvv=d30042528f072ba8a22b19c81250437cd47a2f30330f0ed03551c4efdaf3409e
Thanks it help me out
Happy to hear it!
Great videos man!
Well you are the 3rd video I have watched today about how to install a catalytic converter, your is the simplest version, I have a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee , similar. Great video. So what is the name of the muffler tape?
There are a few different brands that work you should be able to find in the exhaust isle in any auto parts store, I believe I used the “tiger patch brand”
Bro i got a 1996 and it only has 1 wire on it
Really do you have the same issue? Or is it working and is just like that from the factory?
My oil pressure doesn't show I replaced the sensor n it's still not working the wire harness was full of oil and old so I'm thinking it's that but the connection that's in the car has 1 wire n the 1 that I got at the auto parts has 2
What is suggest then is maybe seeing if you can find a 96 at a pull yard and cut it off and use it off a donor
@@jeepstuff9189 yea I think that's what I'ma be doing I was GANA try to just connect 1 into it and see if it worked that way
Dude mine is a 99 and it's leaking out oil.. no stalling, oil pressure a tad above 40lbs..
Where did you get the harness from? I cant find one. Do you think i can plug the upstream o2 in the harness? My dumbass mechanic ripped my o2 sensor
I got mine off of a Jeep from a pick and pull, but yeah you can wire the sensor in directly to the harness if you can’t find one.
Beautiful.
It's easy to take the entire console out but your was is definitely a possibility unless your support was not broken
Good job! It’s better to be extra careful than not. Always shake the crap out of it after you get it up in the air and supported. Plumb in a mechanical gauge on that oil pressure port to verify your readings. I’m in the process of getting the bugs and crackhead out of my XJ too😁 Keep up the good work and keep posting videos! Jeff
I Appreciate that, it’s good to hear! Thanks for all the support and advice. Good luck with your xj too. ✌️
My wipers stopped working all the sudden what do I do is there a fuse or something other than replacing the moter
It still sprays the wash as well so
You could try the fuse box that is located by the passenger side floor Matt, it is for the widow wiper the fuse is #30 and is a 20 amp fuse you need. If that doesn’t work you could also try replacing the wiper switch at the steering wheel. If neither of those work it’s probably the motor.
Have you had any problems with the airbags after the install?
Nope, it’s been great since!
I have the same issue. I want to plug it directly. Could tell me what's the colors comes frome the harness can I conoct it with o2 sensor. For example green with white etc...
So I believe it’s black/dark green goes to black. Then brown and yellow goes to grey. Then the other 2 will connect to the white wires and it doesn’t matter which white wire goes to either of them .
@@jeepstuff9189 I appreciate your help
Pussy jeep with the worthless masks hanging bud
You can clean the seat where the nose portion of the Idle Air Control valve rests. Keep up the good fight I enjoy your videos!
Thanks, I appreciate that! I’m sure plenty of gunk has gotten in there based on how the old valve came out.
Keep up the great work. Looking good,
when you removed the carpet did road noise get louder?
The owner I bought the Jeep from tore out the carpet because he mostly used it for wheeling, but yes it got a lot louder because there’s no insulation and the floor panel is pretty thin. I’ll eventually do a video where I replace the carpet and add insulation.
