    Keep the binos . They look like 7×50 - great light gathering ( was required before nightvision ) gives you extra time to see before total darkness and sunrise . I watched thieves and thugs who thought they had cover of darkness . In urban setting knife is most likely deployed as a weapon . Gut hook makes it harder to withdrawal, but when it does it brings guts with it . I had a friend killed by one - he bleed out and there was nothing that could be done for him . I like your kit , make your own decisions what you need . Most commenters are actors and never done squat . 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

    Nice bag, great concept. Always room for improvement. Suggestions, 1. Radio to keep you informed of the situation and environment(news), weather, road closures, danger areas(rioting). 2. Clothing to keep you warm at night while getting home, gator neck, face cover, beanie, windbreaker jacket. 3. Local map to plan your route home. 4. Sunto wrist compass (light weight). Looking forward to your next video with your improvements

    Great video! I like the bag a lot, mainly because its compact and not overkill. Do you know how many Liters it is? One recommendation I would make is ditch a knife or two for just one solid fixed blade for heavy duty stuff and then a smaller edc one for more fine tasks. It will help loosen the weight load and you'll get a lot of use out of each one for varying reasons. Some Paracord and a Tarp, even if a little one, is nice too, you can use it as a makeshift rain cover or shelter, or even as a signal flag if you need some kind of rescue depending on the color. Plus it doesn't weigh much!

    Get a IWB holster for your pistol and a carry permit. If your bag goes on your back, pistol goes on waist. If your bag gets grabbed, you may be able to recover it. Ditch the hatchet, it's for the woods - replace with a pry bar. Please consider upgrading your multi-tool to a Leatherman wave. The big knife is too large for urban environment- replace with a quick access pocket folder (in your pocket every day!) I prefer 4 bic lighters to 1 ferro rod. Replace the bulky binoculars with a monocular. Spare set of keys in your bag. Spare batteries for your headlamp. Spare phone charger! Faucet spigot wrench to refill your water container. Replace the first aid thermometer with a tourniquet. Small amount of duct tape. My favorite energy food in a get home bag is packets of honey from fast food restaurants- does not spoil- put them in a big prescription bottle so they don't leak. (guess how I figured that one out). Clean socks and underwear!!!! Walk to your home from work one day with your bag. That trip will tell you what you need to know and carry (or not carry). What will you encounter walking home? Step 2: Where will you go if your apartment is uninhabitable for a while? If you don't have family in walking distance, research a 24hr access 6'x10' climate controlled storage unit. Store a cot, sleeping bag, camping toilet, water, canned stew, radio etc. in it.

    The only things i have in my get home bag has a lighter, some 550 cord, gloves, a emergency tent/sleeping bag the ones that fit in your hand, a good straight blade knife to cut wood with at least an two inch thick, a solar charger for my phone with a light option on it for another flash light, bc my phone has a flash light on it.Cords for charing the charger at a rest stop/friends house or phone itself. A poncho (multi uses) small compass and a map of the area/state am in. a multi tool and a small crowbar nothing more than a pound, multi tool could cut through a fence or barbwire, the crowbar could open windows or doors.also an extra pair of ranger rolled shirt, socks, and a all black skin tight clothes for extra clothes in cold weather at night. Know your area plan ahead, some granola bars for each three miles you walk, definitely water and water straw filter for your water bottle. Think of this you want everything to be light as possible to get back home, always wear some good shoes and good socks. The way you plan your way back or way out the better. If you have a fake wallet put that in your bag have a few bucks in it to get a happy meal! HEHE always keep your real wallet on you cause you might get stuff taken from you the better you hide your information the better, and cardio is your friend. The faster you can outrun the normal person the better if you get caught just make sure you know how to really fight thats with the weapons god provided for you or a weapon on you or in your bag. Train.like your life depended on it bc you either have loved ones back at home that are waiting!

    I suggest watching other videos for get home bags. Your on the right track throw a military style poncho, silcot key, emergency bivvy sack, Compass, warm hat, sunglasses a few zip ties, Burt wipes.a power bank to charge you phone with all the cables needed Remember get home bag the stuff inside to help you get home most get home bags are usually edc bags (every day carry) and go where ever you go or the bag sits in car in case of breakdown or emergency good luck👍🏻

    Love a simple bag! Ditch two of the knives and trade for a demo bar. You're unlikely to need 4 knives but you may find a door/gate/wall that must be opened. Add a rag/bandanna (or two). When you need a clean cloth, nothing else will do. Also recommend a couple heavy-duty contractor bags. Many potential uses, lightweight and inexpensive. Silcock key is also a great idea for urban water sources.

    Bro, if i may give you some suggestions If it's a urban bag: - You don't need a fire starter. You'll extract much more from a regular bic lighter. They won't last as long, but in a urban enviroment they will be much more usefull - A Hatchet or a machete. You definetly won't use those on urban enviroment. They are two heavy things that are much more useful either on a rural enviroment or just in your car. And tbh i always used to bringa hatchet when camping, and i never used it. If you really want to cut wood try one of those folding saws. They are lighter, won't be noisy, and won't waste space. And btw... a small hatchet will just frustrate you. Either bring the real deal, or just brind the saw In a backpack they are just extra weight and waste of space, in my honest opinion - Binoculars are bulky and definetly a waste of space. In a urban enviroment you barely have 100m of field before the next building/house/billboard. That's 100% something that can be left in your car, or just at home. - A gun shouldn't be in your backpack, and neither should a folding knife. They should be on your person. 'oh but it's an extra gun'. Ok, but wouldn't it be better to just substitute that one for an extra box of ammo? What's the point in having 2 guns and no ammo? With all that space you just created: A get home bag doesn't need to be a 'apocalyptic' tool. It can gelp you on your day-by-day. And it will definetly help you a lot more if you subsitute some stuff - bring a lil hand flashlight. A small lumintop edc. I have one in my pocket right now. I use it almost every day. - DUCT TAPE. A hundred different uses, wasting almost no space if you know how to pack it - a small impermeable jacket. You know those that runners use? They are light, pack small, and you will definetly use it - An underwear, a clean t-shirt, a pair of socks, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant... Sometimes you just don't get to your house because of casual life conditions: You stayed longer at work, you left for a friend's house, it poured a lot of rain... And you just gotta sleep it off with no crisis. I bet it happened to you more times than you had to use binoculars in the city. Do not be the guy that is ready for everything but a sleepover - Medkits are awesome. But I am always amazed on the quantity of people that carry a tourniquet every day, but don't carry simple painkillers... A simple ointment for burns.... stomach medication, nausea medication......... wet.... wipes.......... Don't be the guy that has a tourniquet but can't even give his own girlfriend a simple headache medication because you left it home Your life can be so much easier with the right stuff on your bag Don't be the guy that wants to be ready for a crisis, but doesn't prepare for just normal day-by-day normal casual stuff

      Have you ever tried to start a fire in a rain or damp weather with a wet lighter? It ain't gonna happen for 99% of us, but if you know how to use fire starter/ferro rods, you can start any fire anywhere at any time. Or what do you do if you break your bic lighter, it's 100% useless after that.

    • @lucasathus
      @lucasathus 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@soolo22 yes I've tried it. And it's not any easier with a fire starter. But even if it was, this is a urban bag. You won't be lighting fires with wet stuff inside the city. If you want to take your Firestarter with you, please do. It doesn't take much space. But it's not as useful inside the city as a good old Bic lighter

    Putty the holes, let them dry, then sand them. If the holes are larger that a quarter get a patch kit. Then use a paint with primer. Paint the ceiling & walls and use trim paint for the trim and doors. Don't forget the inside of the closet. Upgrade your light with a new one or with a new cover. Clean the windows inside and out to let the light in. Check the seals on the windows for drafts so you stay warm. When you move your furniture in, put a large rug or two medium ones on the floor. It will make the room feel warmer and less basement like. Side table lamps will help with having more light in the space. You want it to be clean, bright and comfortable and a place you can keep tidy because it will be your rest area as you progress through the rest of the basement. Pinterest & TH-cam have tons of space planning and decorating ideas for basement remodels.(Plus modern homesteading, off grid kitchens and solar power) Facebook marketplace, thrift stores and garage sales are great for finding furniture or appliances. Congratulations on moving on to this next chapter of your life. Hope this helps and goid luck!

    I’ve incorporated my get home bag kit as part of my edc backpack. Weight is key, getting home could be a 1 hour journey or it could be a day/week long scenario. Regardless, moving quickly is key. A poncho is great as it’s usable on the go, or could be strung up to form a temp shelter. Whilst food is important, you need to prioritise water/medicine, communication/navigation/observation. Just some food for thought.
