How to add Carberry to Romraider and ECUFlash
Simply put, if you have followed my last video for installing Romraider and ECUFlash, this is one of the next steps for many people. Follow along and enjoy the benefits.

hey found you video verry helpfull thank you! i do have one problem, on my 02 wrx wagon I can't seem to find a few values my tuner is requesting, tried downloading defs again and still nothing, trying to read IAM, and feedback knock, and they don't show up anywhere on the list of parameters. any help would be super appreciated!
You need to be connected to the vehicle for these to show up. Do not select your parameters until you're connected to the vehicle.
@@tunedbyjinjer unfortunately I tried that and they were gives me a more refined list of things to log. Feedback knock or Iam or not on the list of things I can data log, I’m on Windows 11, on a 32 bit Java environment, tried deleting, and re-downloading the 370 definitions still no luck, I’m on version 1.0.0 of rom raider and I also tried Carberry definitions, but that didn’t seem to work either
@@liambell1879the only reason would be if romraider doesn't fully recognize the rom on the ecu. It's recognizing it kinda obviously if the log parameter list refines but not enough to have a complete list. Have you flashed the rom the tuner gave to you or have you not done that yet? Can ecuflash read and view the rom?
@@tunedbyjinjer yep I have flashed the rom with the map my tuner sent me successfully
@liambell1879 try flashing back to the stock rom and see if it loads the parameters.

Definitely has roms for 14 wrx's but it may not be your specific rom that's been defined, usually an earlier or more updated roms depending on when someone asked for the definition.

It doesnt work for me..at 6:33 i cant find the ecu defs, what i´m i doing wrong?
I deleted everything and started over, managed to get the ecu defs, but now i dont find any roms?
When I do this I keep getting ecu deff not found, then I select the ecu deff then I get sn error that says this deff does not seem to match, load anyways, the first rom in deffantions will be chosen
@@djdiabetes1679 sounds like you're trying to load a rom that it's defined yet. Year make and model?

@@DriftMagic you will need to "Read ECU" on ecuflash to gain your vehicles specific .bin/hex file. Or you can grab it from romraider.com in the oem rom list.
Hey bro I'm hoping that you're still active on this account lol. So I don't know why but my parameters are slightly different than yours which is weird because I've followed all your tutorials to a tea. Basically I don't have the Final fueling base parameter and I need that to tune my car in open loop lol. Am I not using the correct definition on the logger? I have the sdlogger file and the standard English one but neither of them have it on there. Appreciate any help
@@Saiyan21 final fueling base won't show until you're plugged into the vehicle.

when i try to open a tune in rom it says ecu definition not found... im a little confused

@@trailheadmedia5578 there are defs out there just don't know where they are off the top of my head.
6:40 - And where from I should get these kind of things? Because I didn't notice even a minute about it in this video... I mean what is it and where I can find something like this? Also, Logger doesnt work for me. It says that logger needs 32-bit JRE version and I installed like 3 other 32-bit versions and it still doenst work. Can anyone explain or help me with it? And basically how to connect the computer with RomRaider and the car?
@@Himitsu1337 stock rom list on romraider forum. That error is specifically from a Java version error. Have you fully removed the 64 bit Java from your computer prior to installing the 32bit version. There is one available on the "Getting Started" part of the romraider forum.
Is there a way to use ecuflash with a vag com ?
@@douglaslambert6318 there are writeups on romraider about how to edit a vagcom to work on romraider but I do not have any experience or knowledge on the subject otherwise. Imo it's not worth the chance at bricking an ecu.
If this is open source why hasn't anyone simply made SD and MAF tuning an option you can choose vs rearranging all the defs?
@@kornshadow097 you can choose it in the rom itself but if you want all your other tables such as Open Loop Fueling Target and Total Ignition Timing to switch between Load and MAP then definitions need to be switched.
@@kornshadow097 If you use Ecuflash defs don't need to be altered and it just depends on the rom you want to start with, MAF or SD. For Romraider you just have to switch which order they are in in def manager but all defs can be sitting in the def manager folder.
How i can take the metric definitions, that it shows bar and not psi?
Use the metric definitions.
My logger can only log like…6-8 parameters until it can read the information anymore and says error. It’s like I have to log different parameters on different runs because the program won’t log it all at the same time. What other programs are available to just data log?
Btssm with an android phone or tablet. Have you enabled fast logging? Do you have other programs running in the background on your laptop? You should be able to log about 18 parameters before you get an error.
I don't know if you can answer this for me or not, but I have a 21 wrx FA20 and recently got an etune flashed to my ECU through my access port for my J PIPE. Car is running great but now I'm getting a CEL for catalyst efficiency because of the high flow cat in the J pipe. Can I use this software to disable that code and still use my access port and tune after? I need the light gone for vehicle emissions purposes for registration. I'm in need of a solution, this seems like the easiest way, I'm just not sure if it will work, thanks for your time
This will not work as there are no definitions for 15+ wrx's yet. To get rid of that code you'd have to get a GESI catted J pipe or you'd have to be retuned with ECUEDIT.

Eroor definition not found means you either didn't place definitions in the right location or haven't dictated where the program should look for the definition
Hey, thanks for the awesome video! So, with RomRaider it has a linux version but, with the ECUFlash software I didn't see Linux listed anywhere. Just wondering if you (or anyone else) has had any issues getting this up and running. My laptop has Arch on it right now and I'd rather not reload Windows back on or order a cable until I know that part will work at least. Thanks again for the video though. Much appreciated!
Just did a little more research (Google Gemini) and realized I should have thought about this already, ECUFlash doesn't have a Linux version to install but I guess a lot of people have had success using WINE in Linux to run the Windows application. Just wanted to update this for anyone else that may be looking for answers to this question.
I have never used romraider or ecuflash on anything but windows so unfortunately I'm no help. Might find help over on the romraider.com forum.

What about the 32 bit Java software you need for romraider to work
That's something I've had to address in the comments quite a lot and plan to add another video explaining the common issues people have and how to address them.

Overrun fueling. You'll most likely need to source these definitions on romraider as they aren't standard defs

I know this is an old video, but I am having a little trouble here. Hoping someone could help. I can get RomRaider to connect and show me values. No it does not currently work on the fa20dit or fa24dit engines
Romraider logger will not connect at all for data logging on my 09 wrx at all, windows 7 32bit system, ecuflash has no problems
Doesn't romraider logger open completely?
Only thing it let's me do is log basic data, not what you have set up, it won't let me use the MAF scaling tool or anything

@@tunedbyjinjer update got all the logger info figured out, the page where you can select what parameters you can select to log, but it says it cant find the tactrix cable, any idea?

Yes romraider only functions properly with Java 32bit.

@@kbcustoms77 maybe eventually. The jist of it is, go into my computer, go to Local Disc C:, then Program Files x86, then find Java and uninstall it. Then go to romraider website and in the Getting Started area you'll find the link to download 32bit Java.

I’m having an issue with the files they’re not downloading as a XML file and I’ve already tried extracting them as well. Would you know if there has been some sort of patch?
What type of file are they downloading as?
@@tunedbyjinjer they’re downloading as a Microsoft edge html and it’s doing the same thing for the logger definition as well

Hey, I wanted to ask you a question about adding a Dyno function to rom raider, i understood from your video that i needed to get a cars_def.dtd file - but cant seem to find it under dyno forum on romraider's website - any suggestions be appreciated. do you do any remote tuninig? let m eknow thanks
So do you have to go and get a rom or log of your own car to get a file to put into ecu flash and the rom ecu editor ?
No, you can go to romraider.com and go to the oem rom list and snag one of those if you want to open a rom for viewing.
Hey Jinjer, I have followed everything and scoured online. For some reason ECUFlash cannot recognize the ROM on my 08 USDM STI MT. I would love if you could help

You mean just the shape of the parameters?

I can Team View and do it or you can follow the videos step by step. Thousands of people have used my videos to setup Romraider and Ecuflash so it's definitely possible on your own, up to you.
But I don’t have the cord to plug the computer to the car. Idk if I need to do that or not
@@th3unknown666 don't need the cable to setup Romraider or ecuflash but will need it to flash new maps to your car or to log data when driving the car.
I have open flash tablet. But I can’t open up one of my tune files on the logger sittings or the files sittings to edited it. I’ve downloaded all the things I need. But also the name definition and logger aren’t up there for me.

i was having troubles understanding till i watched this. however, when i grab my stock rom from ecuflash and import it into romraider to tune it says that my definitions is not found and asks if i want to choose one so i do and i choose the romraider ecu_defs and then it says that my definitions dont seem to match
2013 wrx btw
Many of the 2008 and newer wrx's and sti's roms do not seem to work properly on romraider. Use Ecuflash for these roms and only use romraider logger to log data from these ecu's.

The control tables are not but the engine codes are.
