With a passing accuracy of 93.2% it’s no wonder Gallen/Neil are interested in him. You could already see against Dagenham, Neil’s influence on wanting his players to keep the ball on the deck, and while we were better at it in that game, there were still so many balls in to players that were either under or over hit, so someone like Cundle might be able to remedy that. We need someone who can consistently unlock a defence and put balls into the feet of Coburn, Ivanovic and Langstaff. There’s no reason to think that Cundle might be adverse to coming to us. Playing for a London club, 4 miles from the centre of London itself has to be more of a draw than visiting the bright lights of Swansea, Plymouth or Stoke. Coburn seemed more than happy to come to us (under Harris) and he was much further away from home when he left Boro. With Alex Neil’s previous pedigree of developing and improving players (and selling them on) Cundle might see us as a good fit to progress his career, either permanently with us, or to put himself in the shop window for any top Championship or Prem side to take a gamble on him. Could be a win-win for all concerned.

Can anyone really blame our chairman for selling. For a club our size the risks are too great. Example is Flemming. We should have taken the higher fee . Then once we refused approaches for him, his on field displays weaken. Then we ended up with a reduce fee of just £7mil. Do you really believe a young man like Esse (who in his mind wants to prove himself in the top flight) display will not drop once he knows he is wanted by a Premiership club. So a £15mill plus add ons is a good deal for a club of our size.

League one looms now. Pukka pie selection. Pukka pie league. Pukka pie mentality. You can't loose players of this magnitude and perform with any high purpose. Esse is irreplaceable.
