Do you know of a huge, deep gulch on Schofield anywhere? A sidewalk behind our former unit on Ekaha Circle led to it and my mom was terrified my terrible 2's 3-4 yr old little brother would wander off unknown and fall into it 😣😣

You'll are sooooo lucky!!! My stepdad got orders for Schofield in '79 and called back here that we were getting a 4/2.5 and we were like "holeeeee...." It was on Ekaha Cir, 1867 B (4 joined together and unattached carport on a cul de sac. Basically brand new then with their oldest housing across Menoher (i think). Amazing view out the rear bedrooms of Waianae range and Kole Kole pass which at the time, had the huge white cross on it. Last time i was there in '12, i saw the then newer housing and was amazed at our former now the oldest and worst left behind of the whole base housing rebuild. 😢 Made me wanna cry seeing the long dropped set of standards military used to have and the condition of what was basically my childhood home for 3 1/2 years. Brick, cement walls and cement floors covered with some kind of tile I guess. I barely recall if there was central air considering it was far less hot back then. The only thing army provided was a few dressers and a couple of twin mattresses, box springs/rails. Insane to remember back and see in pictures some of the couches my mom would drag home from garage sales or even at dumpsters/curbs and make these half ass pillow cushion type things for them🤣🤣

I'm old enough to remember the steam engines that went through Kalihi. My bedroom was mere yards away from the tracks. I slept through all that noise from the passing trains. Good times trying to steal pineapples off the pineapple cars.

After Hawaii I lived on Allsworth Court on Fort Meade. This was a 2 story house one of the downsides was that my parents had to drive the trash to a machine since we did not have trash cans until we moved to our ranch house on Craig street in the summer of 2010.

In Colorado I lived in a house at East Nassau Place with my parents. This house was a 2 story house with a basement. In the back yard I would play with my dinosaur sandbox that I had and on my blue swing set. I also did fireworks with my neighbors on our court for 4th of July. I also swam in my inflatable pool in my backyard each summer before I began swimming at public pools. I also differents colors for the walls for my bedroom. I had pink when I was little. I also would sleep in this little pink house and my bed would be in it when I was little. Then I had blue as my next color for my room.

My Hawaii Journey. 2005 It all began in December 2005 when me and my mother first landed in Honolulu airport to meet my Dad because he went to Hawaii first before us. I was happy to be with him again after a month. We went to a ranch house on Kiele Place in the Earhart neighborhood. One of the pros of this house was that I had a secret alley way to my private swing and I also would walk to school from this house because it was so close to my school. Then my next memory is New Years Eve 2005 when me and my parents went to see Annika and Nadia at their house. Which at that time I thought I was great that our dads were stationed together and I am grateful for that even now as an adult. 2006 Then in January 2006 I started school in Hawaii called Nimitz Elementary and I was in 3rd grade at the time of the move. In the 3rd grade I went to the Hawaii Plantation Village that was my first field trip in Hawaii and I went ice skating too with my school. I also made an animal as a science fair project. I also would play Triazzle on the computer and I watched Annie with my class.I also during this year went Bowling with Annika and Nadia and it was my first time bowling. Then in June 2006 I had my 9th birthday and it was the first year that I was finally free from my gluten free diet that I was on before I moved to Hawaii and I had a white cake and I went to the wood park and celebrated with Annika and Nadia since me and Annika were 4 days apart with our birthdays and Annika also had strawberry cake too. In March 2006 I started going to Build a bear in the Ala Mona Center Mall. Then in the Summer of 2006 my parents and I moved neighborhoods to Gemini Avenue. It was a two story house. This was where I began my journey with my dog Henry we got him in August 2006 when my mother found that out that my dad had orders to go to Iraq at that time I was not worried and at that time it was better before what would soon happen months later. After my summer I went into 4th grade at school and I went to the Loi I have pictures with me at my school this was in September. I also did Freedom walk for the first time in September 2006 for 9/11 Also in October 2006 an earthquake affected the island and I was without power on base with my parent and I went to the Community playground on base with Annika and Nadia for the first time. I also sang its a Christmas Luau in December 2006 at my school and I went to see my grandparents in California for Christmas.I also went to the Iolani Palce with my school in December 2006. 2007 Then in January 2007 my dad left for Iraq I cried at a night a lot when he first left and before left to because I knew that I was going to miss him for 6 months and it was just me and my mother for 6 months. Then in February 2007 I got spent more time with Annika and Nadia and I went to buca di beppo at the Ward Center in Hawaii and they also came over once for superbowl Sunday. I also went to a party too for that kids that who parents who were deployed. I also had bike education in school too in February because back then i used to be afraid of riding bikes. In March 2007 my granparents came out and we went to The Lanai At Mamala Bay for my grandfathers birthday and we went to the Waikiki beach where I was bit by a bee. Then one day in May 2007 when I coming home from school for the weekend my mother told me my cousin Kade was born.Me and my mother also went even went to California in June 2007 for my 10th birthday too and I also got to visit Oregon with my grandparents and cousin Taylor. Then in August 2007 my dad finally came home from Iraq and I even got my own bike to ride around our court in our neighborhood. In September 2007 me and my parents went to Kauai and we stayed in a beach house for 3 days. In October 2007 I had my first potluck with my neighbors in Hawaii. I also went to Boo Fest on Bellows too with Annika and Nadia and I also went trick or treating with them that year. I also was in the 5th grade by this time in school by late 2007 and did Fall festival for the first time with my school and had outback steakhouse. In November I went to Starbase with my school and my grandparents came for Thanksgiving and we went to the Big island together and I went to the black sand beach and macadamia nut factory. I also saw Enchanted in November 2007 with Annika and Nadia. Sometime in 2007 I also spent time with a girl named Rachel and her brother anthony who dad was also away too the same time. I also went to the Bishop Museum with my school too when I was in 4th grade. I also had a movie night with Annika and Nadia at my house one night and Nadia bumped into something which how we found out she needed eye surgery. When that happend Annika came over to my house for the day because both of our schools were closed for Veterans day weekend because Hawaii is very supportive of the Military. I also went to my school craft fair too and i got a shave ice ornament. I also sang its a marshmallow world at school too in December 2007. 2008 Then in February 2008 my Cousin Taylor and her parents and her grandmother came out to see me and my parents in Hawaii. I also swam at the Hale Koa pool with Taylor and went to Bucca Di Beppo again with her. I also saw a lion dance at my school in Hawaii too. Then in March 2008 I went to see Horton hears a who with Annika and Nadia and that was the last time I hung out with them when I was off of school for Spring break. Then in June 2008 my grandmother came out for my 11th birthday because my Dad was in South Korea for 2 weeks. I went to Farrell's which is not around anymore. My grandmother also came out in October 2008 too and she took me trick or treating that Halloween since my mother could not do it due to health reasons. I also went trick or treating on a boat in Pear Harbor. I also was in 6th grade in school by this point and I sang its a soldiers silent night in December 2008 . I also played with a girl at the Hickam pool on New years eve 2008 when I was off of school for winter break. Bethany and Gabby Then in later on in the summer a girl named Bethany from Germany moved to our court I know this because her mother mentioned this to me one day when I was outside with her who now lives in Dayton Ohio. We rode our bikes together and Bethany loved playdough and she would play this with my friend Gabby who was little at the time who now lives in Puerto Rico and I even got her a play dough ice cream set for her 5th birthday in November 2008. I also did a potluck with my neighbors for Thanksgiving 2008 and Christmas 2008 as they were our last holidays together as neighbors on our court. Gabby and Bethany One time gabby went to my friend Bethany house and her dad didn’t know I told him and he got annoyed but he understood. I also remember Bethany playing play dog with gabby and Hannah loved gabby very much and was so sad when gabby moved of the neighborhood that gabby gave Hannah her pool table. One time gabby was so sad when her mother went to the store and Bethany and my other friends who named I can’t spell had to comfort her and Jack said her mom was not coming back which i thought was not nice at all. Then in January 2009 David who was Bethanys Dad had to go to Iraq. Bethany told me this once when I was outside with her and she was so sad that I was moving away to Maryland. 2009. Then in Janurary 2009 I went to camp for my 6th grade trip for school. By then some of my neighborhoods moved to different neighborhoods.Hannah was so sad when Gabby moved out of the court that Gabby gave Hannah gave her pool table.I also saw Hotel for dogs one day too at the Pearlridge mall when we were in our final months of living in Hawaii. Then my dad got news again to move again. We were offered to move to another neighoorhood but my dad alright got order to Fort Meade In Maryland with a Vengeance. So I spended much of my time with Bethany as much as I could and i also did a Valentines day party with the kids on our court and I went Josh and remmy house for this party and my mother celebrated with the other adults at my house. Then in May 2009 I went to the Ala Mona center for a final time. Then in June 2009 we went to an Indian restaurant for my mothers birthday. Then we went to the Lanai again for my Dads goodbye party for his work before we left for Maryland and I spent my last week at the Hilton Hotel and I went swimming in the Paradise and Tapa pool. Then on June 11th 2009 I left Hawaii. I was 11.

My first house was in Hawaii in the neighborhood Earhart. It was a ranch house. I would walk to my school from my house. I also had a secret alley way to swing. I also went to a wood park to play sometimes and one time I saw a rainbow there after it rained. Also my friends Annika and Nadia also had to sleep over one night in this house and it was a nightmare. Then in the Summer of 2006 we moved houses again to Gemini Avenue. I also lived across the street from Annika and Nadia and I also would have potlucks with my neighborhood in hawaii in October 2007 for Grace clay birthday who has since gone back to Hawaii again for the second time. We also had potluck in November 2008 for Thanksgiving and Christmas 2008 and a Valentines day party in February 2009 a few months before I left for Maryland and I went to Josh and Remmy house and celebrated with the other kids while my mom celebrated at our house with the other adults. I tried reserving a Bellows cabin (for Christmas when friends were visiting) when I was stationed in Schofield years ago, but they were booked 6 months out :/ I ended up reserving one of those Conex box "cottages" over on K-Bay. They were nicely converted, maybe 100 feet from the water, and super cheap! The only downside was, you had to walk to the bathroom lol.
