Happy New Year Yasmeena! Unfortunately this is the new norm having the phone glued to the palm of our hands. When I see kids 5-10 years old I feel that's too young to develop that habit. When we have hurricanes or other natural occurrences here in Florida that takes out cell service , I've heard of people, not just kids that lose their minds over not having access to the internet. Discipline is the start and "living" without the phone is the way but how many people can do it? Sounds like you have it figured out starting by deleting tic toc which I know first hand can take hours from our time. Good luck!!!

I watched the documentary and have watched other youtube content. What gets me is that no one is talking about the guys! no one. She is this and that etc but what about the guys? Instead of why is she doing this, WHY are they doing this?

BTW I have experience with making a documentary, there is a lot that is not shown, someone may break down in tears for different reasons, this is what the producers want to see. I haven't watched nor intend to watch the documentary since it is irrelevant to her having the RIGHT to doing whatever she wants as stunts men and women do when they risk their lives. If people are SO concerned about the well-being of women and girls, then start at home, in schools, volunteer as well as protest for women who are murdered for a strand of hair and slut-shamed for it!

I think you bring up a lot of interesting points but there is something I fundamentally disagree with at the beginning which is the sentiment that she is an adult and she can take care of herself. I am not strongly into Marxist theory but one thing I can subscribe to is its criticism of the alienating “every person for themselves” rhetoric. No ,some people can’t take care of themselves, and we don’t live in isolation from each other. Some people’s choices are shaped by oppressive conditions that harm them (potentially all of us). While I don’t think Lily Philips should be slandered for what she is doing the conversation of how she felt after is absolutely relevant. She was broken by the end of that documentary and it’s heartbreaking to watch and I think it exposes the bigger problem of what kind of social conventions we live under where potentially extreme, self harming behaviour is praised with financial compensation. I don’t think OF is intrinsically harmful, but this situation exposes a potential for platforms like it to impede a person’s sense of agency by financially praising the most extreme and intense “challenges”.

Thank you for stepping forward to defend this girl! It is absolutely horrific to see all the online bullying and shaming! Like you, I am not saying that I agree with Lily on everything. But I am saying, that it does not matter. What she does is only her choice, and we should respect that. It is very strange, that the judgemental mob is so large, and that there are so few individuals defending her

I think you make some interesting points however from what ive seen, the majority of the feedback on her social media is genuine concern for her physical and mental health and an attempt her dissuade her from taking on 1000 men given she is in tears by the end of the documentary. Lily Philips said in the doc that she actively courts controversy so the fact that she has received critiscm isnt suprising. I think we should be careful not to confuse criticism with online bullying. What she did was objectively a dangerous thing to do for her body and mind. This is an indisputable fact, unfortunately. Yes, there are undoubtedly double standard for men sleeping with a large number a women but i dont believe i have seen a comparitive experiment done, and in this day an age a bloke would also receive as much critiscm lining up 100 women in a room. Its pretty discusting base level stuff. No one deserves to be bullied, but if i were you inwould exercise caution in 'standing with Lily'. Its a totally vile concept that may have really bad consequences for her in her future. One of the men interviewed afterwards was also visbly shaken bynthe experience too. Everytjing seems all harmless and a bit of fun...until its not. You have every right to defend and stand up for women - i fully emdorse that as an 'older' feminist myself. However, if the pile on to lily was so overwhelming for her she would perhaps stop doijg interviews promoting sleeping with 1000 men.

Excellent video, you make so many good points and expressed all my thoughts on this. I care about Lily Phillips in the same way as i care about you and human's in general. I care that they can make their own choices free from the judgement and control of others, particularly so with women in general. It's often the ones that are most judgemental are the ones with double standards.

Her record is nothing compared to what some porn stars have done, yet this is suddenly a horrible thing. She's an adult, she made a choice, and all the comments attacking her are coming from a place of control. There's clearly a double-standard involved in this, but more than that, most of these men making these comments would have no problem in being one of those hundred men.
