Catch & Cook Challenge: Trout, Crab, and a Delicious Feast
What a fantastic day by the water! Armed with fishing gear and crab traps, we set out on an unforgettable catch-and-cook challenge by the bridge. The stakes were high as we worked to reel in the perfect catches to create an incredible meal.
The action started early, with the tidal stream serving as the perfect backdrop for fishing and crabbing. After hours of determination and patience, we managed to catch a beautiful 16-inch spotted trout and a feisty 6 1/4-inch blue crab. But that was just the beginning.
Once the catches were secured, we dove into the next phase of the adventure. Watch as we show you step-by-step how to clean a blue crab and not-so-expertly fillet a spotted trout. Once prepped, we headed back to the house and fired up the pan and cooked a meal worthy of the effort. The trout was battered and pan-fried to perfection, while the crab was steamed to bring out its natural sweetness.
But here’s the big question-did the day’s catch live up to the challenge? Could this outdoor feast rival a restaurant-quality meal? You’ll have to watch to the end to find out!

Hey where you get your net?
The original one I got at Dick's Sporting Goods. I replaced the netting with a homemade tarred twine net. Thanks for watching.
Do a catch, clean, and cook. Maybe it's just the videos of yours that I've chosen to watch, but I don't think I've ever seen you do a catch, clean, and cook.
Be happy to do that. You can also check out "From Nature to Plate: The Ultimate Catch and Cook Adventure" playlist. th-cam.com/play/PLbPr4FdKslLtQkYkDZyhDqCVXPdkgSlpa.html Thanks for watching!!!

That is the way my brothers and I did it on the shores of the Elizabeth River in Portsmouth, Virginia.
That's awesome! Handlining is the most economical way to go crabbing that anyone can afford to do it. Hopefully you have shared the channel with your brothers as well. :) Thanks for watching!

Don't if you throw the crab pots out like you do and then they get pulled in at an angle aren't you giving the crabs a chance to escape due to the angle the pots are being pulled in?
Great question. Since I am pulling them in quickly, the water resistance presses them against the trap preventing them from escaping. Thanks for watching!

I can watch this all day. Thank bro. New fan...
Awesome, glad you like the channel. Much appreciated. Thanks for watching!

Absolutely massive beast. Thanks for watching!
Love how you have your cooler set up to hold your drinks and the crabs!
Appreciate that, it is convenient. Thanks for watching!
Never thought to use a zip tie to hold the bait. I'd just tie it on with a string. Thanks for the tip!
Glad that helped. I find the zip ties are just quicker. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the tip for keeping crabs alive. Very insightful!
Glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching!!!
