Changing the paddle wheel on a nasa clipper speed log.
changing the paddle wheel while in the water requires an amount of speed and hand to eye coordination..... or you may sink the boat!
but singing a little tune as you go is always a winner.

First, 3-400lbs for recertification is cheap. It's more like 800-900 here in the States. Second, vicegrip on the brass fitting? Dude, no proper spanner? I'm sure you're going to be safe after doing this, but it will lack certification.

Fantastic place Berwick upon Tweed. I went to school there for a while when I was 6 years old & I had a holiday home just 200 yds from where you berthed for 14 years. Spent many holidays there. Great to see that you walked over the old bridge. When you were in the YC did you go in the snug & read the letter from the bloke that won a gold medal at the olympics, years ago.. He was told by his employer that he could not have anymore time off work, or he would get the sack. So he could not wait for the medal award ceremony. He had to come home. Could you imagine the uproar if an employer made a gold medal winner do that these days. Did you see the section of Crossbow on the wall? the first boat to reach 30kts. As for the toilets. What is an "H tealeaf" I couldn't understand the 'British English". I have the same motor, but it's a circa 86 or 1988 Johnson Sail Twin. Mine was running just fine when the RPMs declined, the motor backfired, and five minutes later quit, and we noticed an intense odor of burnt insulation. My coils contacts etc. were just replaced a few years ago, and it didn't run on one cylinder, so I'm suspecting something major coming up from the magneto. I hope it isn't the magneto itself. The local OB repair place now won't work on any OB older than 1990. Sigh. The OB is so light, and my back is so bad, that I've just got to fix this baby.

    • @RichardBrocklesby101

Good job. When I bought my Rival I took the life raft to a service centre and asked them to blow it up so I could see what was inside. Glad I did as it was atrocious. It was an Arimar life raft and the paddles were in fact plastic beach spades, the sea drogues was not fit for purpose, there were no bags under the raft to stop it flipping over, the pump was a party balloon pump still in novelty packaging. Unreal, only good, for saving a life on the village pond. Even more worrying is that it had been serviced previously by Suffolk Safety and I nearly sent it there again in which case I would not have known the horrors that lay inside. I bought a new raft,,,, Andy UK
