Renowned Indian experimental physicist, author, and Padma Shri awardee Prof. Harish Chandra Verma, popularly known as HCV, conducted an inspiring and interactive experimental physics workshop titled “Beyond the Equations: The Thrill of Physics with Prof.H.C.Verma” at Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (KMV), Jalandhar, on January 18, 2025. Prof. Verma, an emeritus professor at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-Kanpur), is highly regarded for his significant contributions to physics education and his approachable teaching methods.
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar is proud to be the only Anveshika Centre in Punjab, a unique NANI (National Anveshika Network of India) initiative of IAPT (Indian Association of Physics Teachers) under the mentorship of Prof. HC Verma, aimed at promoting scientific inquiry and hands-on learning among students. This center provides a platform for young minds to explore the world of physics through experimentation and encourages them to develop a scientific temperament.
The workshop saw the enthusiastic participation of over 500 students, including those from KMV and nearby schools, eager to learn about the wonders of physics. Prof. Verma showcased a variety of live demonstrations, effectively illustrating complex concepts in physics and making them easily understandable for the students. His interactive approach allowed participants to engage with the experiments directly, sparking curiosity and providing a hands-on learning experience. Prof. Verma emphasized the importance of observation, critical thinking, and inquiry-based learning in developing a deeper understanding of physics. His ability to simplify intricate theories into relatable experiments made the subject highly engaging for the students, many of whom expressed their newfound excitement about the subject.
