The Blind Engineer
Australia
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 21 พ.ค. 2023
I am a blind engineering student based in Australia travelling the world with my partner. There are very few people with a vision impairment who have studied engineering, so join my partner and I in our adventures.
First time using public transport in Stockholm, Sweden
This was our first time using public transport in Stockholm. We caught a tram and a bus to get from the Vasa Museum to a local outdoor pub.

The having them scan on the tram is exactly the same process as Phoenix, AZ or San Diego, CA. It’s a fare inspection, but they don’t just stay on the tram to do this, they will roam around to different ones to inspect fares. However with the US systems you are supposed to scan before boarding.
The manual checking of tickets inside the tram is an exception. Normally you do it outside at the platform.
tactile pavers that a blind person can feel using their cane.
Useful information - well done.
Thanks for the video i will be travelling soon
Moving to spain next year and will probably be living in sevilla. Coming from the US and this is a bigger concern I have: How is shopping done there? It's pretty common to grab a customer service person here to get assistance navigating a store but I don't think that's available there...
The whole experience of flying today sucks
But it has become cheaper and cheaper so there’s gonna be a trade off
Was driving a bike around some private park, once I drove over the white arrow paint it was a very distinct change of surface so yeah, you can learn to feel paint.
It depends on the type of cane tip the person is using as well as the particular cane technique they are relying on at that particular time. Plus, older paint becomes a lot harder to feel
I really don’t know why bike lanes are placed in the middle of pedestrian spaces. Especially so close to the exit of the public transport as this one is. It discourages more confident riders from using the path and increases the risk for both the riders and pedestrians trying to share the space.
Oddly interesting and satisfying to watch, thanks for posting ✌🏻

This is a great comment. I will make a video on how screen reader software works on phones to showcase how I can read the comments
