    I know this is kinda late but nice amp and video. I hope you are/were able to get that amp fitted with the proper speakers and experienced the glory of that Ampeg running at a higher volume.. I have had a V-4 which is the exact same amp but not in a combo like yours since 1983. These things were meant to be used by artists performing outside and in massive spaces so guitarists could hear themselves. They are the loudest amps I ever heard, or at least with the original speaker cab mine is. The ability to adjust the mids on these amps is pretty unique. When I bought my amp, i got it to use as a bass amp and it works well as both.

      Well dude, I really dont know. Ive made a linger private video for EBMM. They as well, were stumped on the issue. The pedal has collected dust ever since. I know there is another company that makes stronger string. Been so busy in life, never followed through to ask them. I suspect, they could have the answer. Top of my head, cant remember the companies name. Perhaps a google search of “stronger ebmm volume pedal, replacement spring & string”. Best of luck. I always liked the pedal; what a shame.

I have tested others in stores that dont seem to be of similar playability. But the diamond hellraiser series seems to always make me happy. Other nit picking things, are merely personal taste. Have you tried a spring with a ball from a ball bearing in the tremolo hole?

    • @GeeMorno
      @GeeMorno 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I havent. Ya never know until your try right? But my logic is saying that wont work. I dont know what the ball bearing would be for. And I understand the whole "back pressure" idea from the spring; but still, that doesn't eliminate the free play around the top of the collar. Also, since thid arm is just sitting in the hole withouut "clicking" in (the only thing keeping it from falling out is the set screw adjuster); a spring thats stiff like fenders spring, will simply want to pop the arm out. But I appreciate your input. I have a fender spring I can quickly try & see.

Man, I honestly am getting tired of always putting new shrink wrap & digging out the old gunk. Once I actually fixed this bridges miss drilled holes, its working great; but that darn clatter🙄 They could have easily just made a slightly larger arm, or made the arm "click" in with a higher plastic collar. The rest of it is pretty decent, on a budget, but again, that darn chicken pecking!🤮 This week, ive been contemplating a second Vega trem order...... lol 150€ more than the fucking guitar cost😆

Bought this same pedal in the 90s and replaced it with a string kit a few yrs ago... sat on the shelf and decided to tinker with it today. This thing has been this way for years. Ive ordered numerous spring kit replacements. I contacted Ernieball & made 3 private 20min youtube vids going over all possibilities if trial & error, for assembly solutions. Ernieball was as mind boggled as I was, & could not suggest any further solutions to correct the issue. I appreciate that they spent the time watching 40min of me explaining & demonstrating my process. It sucks. I love the pedal but have admitted defeat & am willing to trade it for something else now. @GeeMorno 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dawilde Niewete Thanks, but if you read my description during the video, you will see that I showed what it does EVEN with the alen scree tightened. Its the actual COLLAR, BEFORE, the trem hits the plastic collar that the screw tightens, which has the extra play in it. There is no way to make that metal hole at the entrance of the trem smaller, thus why you see me trying to apply many solutions onto the bar, to correct the issue.

  • @leovanbroeck

I have all these other camera angles recorded & planned to edit it all. Then I realized that I couldnt mix the other instruments because I stacked them on top of each other & that cant be undone. So its in mono, quiet bass & over dubs should have been panned in stereo. Thats why I said on here for listeners to at least wear headphones. I got upset & so THIS rough draft never left my phone. Until many many months later when I said "fuck it", this is better than nothing, for now. Thanks again😄

    Did you ever figure this out? I have the same exact problem with the same exact model (w/ jacks on the side) though I think my spring and string are original. I also researched and did the pot/string/spring adjustment to have the pot at full minimum adjustment at heel-down and at full maximum adjustment at full toe-down which i managed to get. It's just that at full heel down it wants to float back up slightly, just like yours! I tried recrimping and tightening the ends of the spring but it made the problem slightly worse because now the at full heel down there is "too much tension" (?) on the spring as it is shorter where now I need a longer length string or spring or a spring with less tension at the toe end portion... frustrating! I'm about to contact Ernie Ball to see if they repair these older units.

    • @GeeMorno

      Scott Valkwitch Man. I have three 20 min vids, set to private, that I made for Ernie Ball. The guy watched them all & tried really hard to help me. He ran out of ideas. I believe that the design of the older pedal is not the same as what the spring/string is made for. Always seems too darn tight. Unless there is a proper spring set made; I believe its a lost cause. Makes me wonder how people are touring with the older ones. Like noone seems to have this problem? Only 3 of us? The pedal is back on the shelf. Love the brick casing...... @@GeeMorno Thanks. I'm managing with mine mostly because I use it for volume swells and roll back (to get cleaner tones when using certain fuzz and overdrive pedals), for silence i use a either a boss or polytune pedal... though its still annoying that the pedal does this and now since i've been trying to readjust this so many times, the strings are starting to look frayed where they loop into the spring ends. So, I just bought a standard string and spring kit replacement for the heck of it and will see what happens. I have 2nd exact unit which is slightly better (heel does not spring back as much). One thing thats obvious to me, between my two units is the appearance of the spring tension. So the spring tension/length needs to be just right to get the pedal to work properly. Unfortuantely, I see that Ernie Ball does not do repairs on these models (only the ones with top loaded jacks...etc) as they state on their repair form. I feel like these older units when adjusted correctly are superior in feel and sound than any of the newer versions they make now.

    wow mine doesn't do that at all. but, i'm still thinking of looking at a better trem system anyway but wow.. i would have sent it back or shared that w/ Thomann, they're pretty good about replacements

    What’s is the mounting screw spacing, would this fit a MIM strat?

      Hey man. I honestly don't know. Ive been doing 12hr shifts & 17days in a row, so I dont even have time to research it for you. Off the top of my head, these are Wilkinson; but I highly doubt they are upper class Wilkinsons, on such a cheap guitar. I doubt Thomann even supplies those types of specs in detail either. But I just dont know. My applogies!

      Gilles Morneault so I did a bit of research and found that the tremolo shown is a Wilkinson WVPC, which fits American strats, I have found a version with different shapes holes that should fit a MIM strat called the Wilkinson WVP6. From what I’ve gathered, bot of these bridges are good quality and a great price
