My opinion as a BA student : I dont disagree that theres some hanky panky going on, but some of the factors of their failure and financial losses of the business is also due to no one wanting to buy overpriced clothing during and since COVID. And after the pandemic people are just recovering financially and people have started focusing more on saving money after such an experience. And the slow loss over the years is also simply due to the fact that they overestimated local women's desire to buy local designers clothes. Sure its an amazing idea on paper, but I dont think they really did their research, and Ms vivy was too shyok sendiri with this idea IMO. I remember walking past one store 7 years ago and thinking, wow, the store is always empty. I think they should have remained small. Base on their concept ans operation on their target local consumers desires and spending habits (which is a very small percentage of them/niche market). The way they expanded so vastly and rapidly was such a deluded decision. Just remain a website and 1 store in eg. bangsar. And then work hard on those, work on Duck brand no problem. And then they can expand by adding in other ASEAN designers and do collabs with other brands and businesses to sustain themselves and mainly supporting local designers. Edit: also, would have been great if they expanded to the middle east where they have their ideal consumers unlike in malaysia. Also, i dont mean to sound racist but the problem with Malays, especially the rich kids, they only open a business to show off barely thinking about profits, or anything else.
