Moya brand vs. Shoyoroll gi review part 1
มุมมอง 16K12 ปีที่แล้ว
Review of the Moya Brand DeCart gi in black and a comparison to the Shoyoroll Yank, both new out of the bag. This is part 1 and part 2 will come when I have time to wash and use them a bit.
pretty cool where can I get the Mojo Gi?
dont buy moya, its owned by a crooked cop
i think this is still the very strong perception and should be addressed by the owner if untrue
I am pretty sure it is since it is just black and the patches are in all the right places in terms of the IBJJF rules. You can always just email Shoyoroll they will know for sure.
Jeremy, I am 5' 8" and 200 lbs because I am not training right now. The vulcan doesn't really shrink at all. Light weight but I like stiffer sleeves and a pearl weave.
What is your height and weight sir? You're wearing an A2 and you say the sleeves are a little long on you so I thought to ask.
It did not shrink very much at all if I remember right. I eventually sold it. It wore a little heavy and hot compared to my shoyoroll at the time. I used it while I was in Hawaii and it felt heavy. Really well made and built to last. I sold not because of the extra room, which I kinda liked, but because it felt heavier than a 450 gram gi should I thought.
Do you remember how many inches it shrunk length wise?
How much did it shrink post wash? Or did you send it back since it was so big?
Yeah, I should have noted that free shipping is just for U.S. These ripstop pants are really durable but I actually prefer a thinner ripstop pant.
Free shipping only in the U.S. I'm in Canada so shipping was 8.99 or something. Haven't got them yet so I'll see how I like em.
They are almost apples and oranges because of the weave and feel. This is a super light weight gi while the SYR's are lightweight but feel more like a regular gi,like a koral. After rolling in this gi, it is great weight wise and I love the pants but the sleeves are just a little too thin and long on me. They feel real easy to grab. That is my only complaint. Right now I prefer this over the Ring but I think I need to have the sleeves shortened a little.
Which gi brand do you like better? Vulkan or SYR?
Expect a review of the Vulkan ProLight soon and maybe the new Origin gi 2013 edition in April if I decide to order it.

The problem is that you are an A1 in height but an A0 in width. Koral doesn't make the in-between sizes like Shoyoroll which has an A2 slim for example. An A1 is gonna fit you length wise but the gi might feel a little big. Best thing to do is try to find someone with an A1 and try it on and make your decision off that.
Sorry i meant a0 or a1?
I'm 5'8 and 140lbs ,but i'am skinny so should i get an a1or a2 ?
Hi, i am 5'8" and like 195lbs right now. Hoping to finally start cutting weight again and get back down to 170.
Nice video, I got one MOYA too, no matter you wash cold, cotton still shrinks. Another thing, them pants are built like a tank which is good for me.
This gi is not slim fit. It is very roomy. Good for people with wide shoulders. Over time if you wash and dry it will shrink and become more slim.
Nice gi,does it have a slim fit...
I would like a Moya but the only option is buying $60 pants separately and thats just too pricey
Why? did you sold it? it was bad?
Yeah, too bad. Gracie Barra is pretty strict about their uniforms, just white right? And you have to have their patches, I think. In Hawaii at Todd Tanaka's place you can wear any color but you got to patch your gis. I will not patch my shoyoroll unless I was going to compete in it. Only white if Relson is giving a seminar. Todd is cool though and the best price around.
I find it so messed up that my professor Kayron is sponsored by Shoyoroll but I can't where my Shoyoroll Gi to class
Haha, yeah but it has nothing to do with belly size most gi pants needs another inch or so in length in the crotch to waistline. My koral pants were notorious for this also. And If I did get a size bigger they would be really long and ripstop don't really shrink at all.
get a size bigger chubby.
The C. Lew A2 came in yesterday. Fits perfect, almost tailored made to my body. I did a vinegar soak and washed it. Can't wait to use it on sunday!
The Moya was a 180.00 and the Yank was quite expensive, 300.00. I no longer have the Moya.
how much were they ?
Let me know how the Charles Lew works out for you in the A2.
You guys were right, the A1 was tight. Sold it to my coach. Just purchased an A2 Charles Lew, can't wait!
I no longer have these gi pants but I liked them except that they need to be longer in the back length wise or you see as crack as soon as you bend over. Good quality, good price, free shipping.
I brought this gi with me to Hawaii. The room I rented had bedbugs so I had to throw away all my sheets and stuff. I started using the gi to sleep in (wearing the pants and using the jacket to cover if I felt cold). They say bedbugs don't like vaseline so I put that on my arms and legs to prevent bites but it got on the gi and along with the dirt and grime from the bed and stuff it got stained. To prevent bringing anymore bedbugs with me when I moved I threw this gi away. Never got to roll in it
Thanks, and your right I need a tripod and a video camera, this was done on a ipad type video thing.
Haha, I don't know, I guess I felt kinda creepy that day. Trying to talk slow...haha...creepy
I would if I had it with me here in Hawaii. Left all my gi backs back in Cali.
Good review bro, lots of detail. Quick Q, would you be willing to sell your count gi bag separately over paypal? I really like the bag
how is the mojo bro after all this time?
Just added to our review database at GiFreakdotcom. Thanks!
great review! a little editing could go a LONG way. i would love to see some shots of you with the gi on, seeing how the gi fits ON someone is a really important thing for me when buying a new gi (even if it is just 99) editing could also smooth out some of those transitions and fill in some of that blank space. i really liked how you got in there with showing the detail of the fabric and giving that reassurance that the stitching is good all the way through! keep it up! OSS!
I like a little looser fit in the shoulders and chest but sounds like A1 is gonna work for you.
@valetudo025 I am 5"8 180 and i had an A1 the count and it was a little tight on me. Length was perfect but was tight
I am 5 '8" and around 195 right now and just starting the weight loss process. I am not doing jits until Sept. 1st so I am a fat slob right now.
Yeah, they only run slightly longer in the sleeve and pant length everything else is pretty much like a Koral. You probably should have got a A2 and shrunk it down if you needed to but maybe this batch will run a little bigger in the A1s if not you can always sell it or trade for an A2. Shoyorolls mainly shrink in the chest and stomach, not too much in the length. If your arms are not too long and plan on losing some weight it might work for you.
I see you got an A2, what are your measurements? i'm 5'8 175 and just ordered an A1 RIO KOI hoping it fits! I heard they run big.
Its the Shoyoroll Yank not Yang; for some reason I couldn't pronounce it correctly.
Sold the gi.
Both gis are A2 as are all the other gis in my reviews. But there is a benefit or problem depending on your measurements. The Moya gi continues to shrink a little after each wash and overtime may become too small depending on where you are on the size chart (and this is washing in cold and hang drying).
