This works fine, I had done this long back. But NOTE that I had made few modifications for efficiency and reliability. Kept the top cover open and fixed the UPS in a bigger cabinet. Changed the Heat sinks to bigger one's for proper heat dissipation. Fixed a cooling fan to keep the temperature maintained. Connected one additional charger of 3Ampere in the space that was available after removing the 7AH battery. Also note that this will support upto 40AH Battery but don't use Full load. Else go for a New external battery UPS

I have tried this but instead i use a gel type battery... my only problem is when the power goes off my desktop also turn off sometimes my UPS produces prolong sound when power goes out... any idea how to fix this? pls help tnx

I have 6 simalar size UPS (3 x ANDOWL), (1 x Mecer) and (2 APS). After opening them and doing this upgrade on the battery, the Mecer and the 2 APS UPS's work 100% but all 3 Andowl UPS do not switch on again after disconnecting the internal battery. Could it be possible that some manufacturers delibrately design it so you have to buy a new one or take it to an electrician when the battery starts to fail? I'm not an electrician so I don't know how to fault find.

do you need to click to turn on the ups or do does it stay off until there is an outage and then you click to turn it on?

Why the fuck would you leave that connection on and wrap wire around it lol.. just cut it off and solder the wires together and shrink wrap.. this stuff is in your house so do it the right way not wrap wires around everything and tape lol.. DO NOT DO THOS PEOPLE.. do it the right way..

I’ve just connected a 135A truck battery to a 1050VA small ups, i haven’t done any testing yet but it seems to work fine when power is cut for 3-4 minutes. The real test is when we get power cuts from the distributor and that lasts for 2-3 hours. I have a DVR and 4 cameras connected to that ups. I don’t know how much power they draw.

This is definitely not a good idea. Car batteries have lower resistance, I guess, possible overload.. And car batteries are not meant to be subdued to such a high stressfull charging - discharging duty cycle... It won't last for long .....

WARNING: Use sealed battery, or outside because venting of toxic hydrogen sulfide. Never just twist wires together with high load. Some UPS are designed for a max discharge time, because of the heat.

I cringe at watching you wrap the raw wires around the spade connectors on the UPS side, and then just wrap them in electrical tape. You really should use the proper connectors here for a clean connection.

Beware!! This battery states "Boost voltage: 13.8V", Have you measures what voltage your UPS is using for boost changing? If this is higher than 13.8V (many use 14.4 to 14.6V) then it's possible to damage your battery, it can loose gasses and there is even chance of fire! (To test boost charging voltage, drain battery to at least 70% and then test what voltage UPS is using to charge)
