A trip to a restaurant in the early 1960s. This is the only document of our bathroom in Green Lane Coventry. I wonder if you can still get wallpaper with fish and seaweed for bathrooms. Come to think of it when was the last time you saw wallpaper in a bathroom?
Nürnberg
มุมมอง 4014 ปีที่แล้ว
A film from the 60s which shows a business man standing on a road high above a valley, then footage of Nürnberg (I think it's Nürnberg). Watch out for the bubble car towards the end!

When my mum started to have driving lessons this was the car she learned in. Car enthusiasts might be interested in the 1968 Ford Capri at 0:33 seconds and a Cortina Mk III at the end of the film.
Holiday in Devon

Taken on a holiday in 1964. The little boy with fair hair was Orkon and was from Norway. The scene of the little trains was taken on Plymouth Hoe. I don't know if they are still there today.
Old London

I don't know when this was made, but judging by some of the cars about 1955. My dad was probably on a sight-seeing tour of London. If this is the case it is one of his earliest cine films!
Watching this 15 yrs after the upload
Thanks for the memories .. I lived at No 6

That me in that film. Yeah I was there.
Used to be a really nice place, until the council decided to concrete jungle the city centre, circa 2004.
The Keyboard Bible is definitely a great book and discusses many individual styles. I'm a big fan of Hammond organ as played by the greats like Jimmy Smith and Billy Preston, even though I don't have one! Wish I did! I did get to see Billy Preston live back in his big Afro hair days and he was fantastic.
went there with my primary school, st boniface primary. it was in central park if i remember correctly
Thank you, enjoyed that. But the background music in 1964 was sooo annoying!
Not half as annoying as rap or drum and bass
Well that’s true
That is some terrible filming at the beginning. Nothing to see, might as well have pointed camera at the sky.
Wow, I've found a time machine... thanks for posting 👍
What part of Bletchley is this? Is it down by where the Leisure centre is now?
Is that harry bluestone music that I hear?
98 invaluable seconds... thanks for posting this... great time the 1960s
Hey. I'm not sure if you'll see my message, but you've got so much amazing footage of Plymouth and the surrounding area!!! I work at the Plymouth Herald. Would it be possible to use some of your footage? Could you email me at jonathan.bishop@reachplc.com Thanks so much!! :)
Great memories. I was brought up in Bletchley around this period. I went to Bletchley Road Junior School & Bletchley Grammar School. We lived in Selbourne Ave. Bletchley then was an unashamed English market town. Now it’s a Multicultural Shit Hole!
All my family were born and bred in Bletchley, and it breaks my heart to see what those traitorous bastards have done to it. Your spot on, it is a multicultural shit hole.
@@georgegeorge4921 I went back a couple of years ago George. I spent a day at The Bletchley Park Museum ( my Dad was a BP Veteran) and the second day just exploring all my old haunts. I walked from The Station right down to the sports fields at Fenny. Later I went and had a look at our old house in Far Bletchley. All along Queens Avenue along the shopping precinct was a real shit hole sadly. But I thought Far Bletchley was ok, seemingly few immigrants. I still have fond memories for the Old Town. It will never return though.

Plymouth zoo was actually a quarantine station for animals brought into the UK before they were distributed elsewhere.
This is by a group called Hamilton Steetcar who issued a lone self-titled album on the Dot label in 1969.
This was also covered by The Appletree Theatre on their 1967 album Playback.
I remember going to this zoo in the early 70s as a kid with my younger brother. We used to sit on the feet of the giant Zulu warior which we called "the big man". I remember the bumper cars into which you had to insert coins to get them going. They had no overhead electric thingies, (for want of a better expression). I also remember an elephant who didn't look too well. I also vaguely remember polar bears.
Very nice and interesting movie. I have been in England for six months when I was 21 years old in 1978 and when I came back home in Italy with the money I made in London working in an hotel I bought the same your car of this video (same colour, but of course left drive seat): a FIAT 850 Coupè Sport, year 1968. I still have it and I enjoy all the time this wonderful car. You can see my car at You Tube (Fiat 850 Coupè Sport 1968 - by Pagliu50). Your video moved me...compliments to all your family.
12,000 views, WOW
There's something unexplainable in the ingenious way Syd built his songs. His music was an expression of freedom in another dimension. I saved this bootleg on my computer. Thanks!
The Hippo did actually maul one of the keepers. I think he was 17 so only a kid really. The injury's were so bad the staff didn't wait for the ambulance and took him by car to the hospital where he was not expected to live though the night. He did survive but resigned from the zoo and became a milkman. Last I heard he had moved to Harrowgate. PS the Zulu is burried just off the A45 at Whites metals.
I was 12 years old in 1977. I remember the street parties like they were 10 minutes ago. Life was so much fun then. I am 45 now.
Wish I'd been alive back then...I wasn't born until 5 years after...
@tightpantslover my father installed the giant zulu in the late 60's early 70's shortly after buying the zoo!
I remember the Zulu - what a great idea that was. I also remember porcupines. My Gran told me not to get too close because they can fire their quills at people!!
Fabulous bootleg of Astronomy Domine by the Pink Floyd ! Unbelievable!
Where was Coventry Zoo Love the video oxox
wonderful! i love the scenes, and the 850 too!
I grew up in this zoo, it was owned by my family ,It all started to go downhill when the new by pass was built ,there were no sign posts to the zoo, takings dropped and my father struggled to pay the staff ,feed his children and the animals but he did it for a few years whilts trying in vain with the council to get planning permission to turn the zoo into various other things garden centre ,skateboard park etc..to no avail.. finally selling the zoo in 1979. what fantastic childhood memories
Fascinating. I grew up in Bletchley in the 60s but cant recall 'central gardens' . Great video though, and a priceless time capsule.
We lived in Gretna Road in the 60s & 70s. My brother had that exact same US jeep! Spooky.
wot part of cov was the zoo at
my thoughts exactly
Used to live in Gretna Rd and walk down Green Lane to school at Finham Juniors! Have you zoomed in on this area with Google Earth? Fascinating. We never explored any of the fields on the far side of Green Lane though. Did you? Are there any public footpaths? From the aerial photos you can find what look like two huge bomb craters in those fields - no idea why as kids we never went walking over there. Do post more video of Coventry if you get time. Thanks for these memories! Where's the phonebox
Made me feel sad that I hadn't got old family films like this
Absolutely loved this film. One to treasure, and nice to see the post box wasn't always leaning!
I must be getting confused about the gorilla. It must of been somewhere else. I was about 4 at the time so things are a little hazy. I still remember it as being pretty awful though. I suppose standrds then were very different to today.
i went to the zoo a few times in the 1970's. i remember the big zulu. it was great. i also remember towards the end of the zoo's life visiting it and along with my friend being the only ones in there. they had no choice but to close it. i think i may even have a pic of the zulu.
i remember the zulu
I would like to bum Uncle Jim
