Walking from Plakias to Souda (South Crete, Greece)
We spent some time in the charming coastal village of Plakias last year in October. It has some great beaches nearby, both sand and pebbles, and is close to a lot of sight-seeing worthy villages and gorges.
As a warm-up we walked to Souda. Not Souda close to Chania of course, but a small beach with a restaurant and a bar at about an hour walking.
It's an easy walk along the coast with some beautiful sights.
If you look close enough you will find Foteinari beach. The entrance to this secluded pebble beach is a bit hidden away, but it's a great spot and a lovely place to snorkel in the crystal clear waters. Fish all around!
Full disclaimer: we went to that beach on another day, but it felt right to include it in this short video.

We went to the acropolis of Polirinia in April. The road from Kissamos to Polyrrhenia was beautiful and full of little gems like curves with views and old bridges. We visited 3 beaches in the neighbourhood and one of them was well hidden. Currently it is March, so the touristic season has not yet begun. The beaches are gorgeous, but still empty and the water is cold. Today we had the privilege to be in Kissamos (Crete) while the Greek were celebrating their independence day. There were all kinds of activities. I recorded a part of the memorial prayer, the laying of wreaths, the parade and of course some Greek music and dance. We like to walk so skip to 1:51 if you like to jump in right away.

It’s where I spent my childhood summers , Stoupa and Kalogria beaches ! In the 80s there was only one restaurant in kalogria, the one on the very top as you’re coming into the beach! My Dad was born in a village on top of the mountain that stands behind the beaches! Beautiful places and memories! Great video thank you!

My grandparents lived in Saidona , the village at the top of the mountain that stands behind Stoupa. My father was also born in Saidona. I was born in Athens ,but we spent every summer in Stoupa first 16 years of my life ! Amazing place ! I will return one of these days and look up all the relatives and of course enjoy Stoupa and kalogria beach! Thank you for this amazing Video! It brought back so many memories ❤

Just got back after 3 weeks & booked 3 weeks next year May/June best times to go as it is, to date, much quieter than later. Great restaurants & the early morning walk to Ag Nick sets you up for the day! Greek people as of 20/30 years ago & hopefully, but prob not, it will continue. (Not many Germans either so sunbeds aplenty)!!! :-)

I guess it's a little less quiet there in August but I'm sure you'll enjoy it! (at least the sun! I've almost forgotten how the sun looks like...)

Most people I spoke there have been going there for years. I get why!
We were there 15 years ago and hardly any sunbeds in summer. Was very unspoilt. Still looks lovely
It was our first visit there, so I can't compare, but I do think it is lovely. The days of beaches with just a few sunbeds are gone I'm afraid.

Thanks for another informative and entertaining video. We arrive in Stoupa in 5 days time, it looks wonderful. Might hire bikes and have fun avoiding the cats, dogs, sheep and even a fox!
