Homestead video channel
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 30 ต.ค. 2023
I started this channel to record the progress of the homesteads. It is a place to share ideas among subscribers and myself.
I welcome comments, suggestions, and knowledge sharing. Maybe I shoulld have called it the community homestead video channel. Ive been in the building trades my whole working life. I know how to build things. Yet making a functional off grid homestead is something Ive never done. I am underway. It requires either a lot of work or a lot of money to afford help. I dont have the latter.

So what blade would you use
Different strokes for different folks.sounds great!
I’ve done a lot of drywall and I’ve seen others do even more. I’ve never seen anyone use a 1” knife to fill cracks/seams. It is a total waste of time and does nothing to increase the quality of the job
I use a 3/4 inch and it definitely improves the overall look and adds strength to the screws
You heard the man. He couldn’t sleep.
Opinions are like what? Some people just like to argue and create drama. A 1” blade is sufficient for filling gaps. Like I said there is no reason to hurry. I’ve watched “pros” tape right over the gaps with banjo’s and not fill anything. Faster is never better maybe more profitable. Thanks for sharing. 😂
Lol, I measured my small blade. It's actually 1.5" lol next 3" for tape then 6" for butts and edges second pass on tape finish with 1'
Maybe double up those 2 by 4 for extra safety.
Not sure which you're talking about. Vertical or horizontal. Either way they are in spec.
I have one of those do you thi k is good enough to weld.10" pipe?
How's it holding up?
Seal it up from the bottom to prevent critters. A layer of spray foam with a thin layer of mortar on top.
Fish are doing exceptionally well.
Good luck, hope ur fish do well
The Mexicans keep on doing a good job
Ya what ever. This house was built in 1914
The top local contractor remodeled this house. Glossen Construction. They have local boys working for them. They are just thieves.
nice
Thanks
Cheers 🍻 stay safe 👨🏭
Thank you, I will
Nice
Thanks
How are you going to water proof that? You taking all the stucco off? Also why the footer?
Unfortunately stucco waterproofs nothing. The foundation is 113 yrs old poured by farmers. It's crumbling. The new footer will add strength and support. Also I can tie the house down with L bolts and angle iron. It's just sitting on the old footers with nothing holding it down. The wood will be coated and sealed then covered with stucco. Also the dirt level will remain below the wood. Somewhere in history the backfill was placed a foot above the sill plate. This was all a surprise. If I could afford to I would tear this house down and build a new one. Maybe I should start a go fund me. Lol
@@Homesteadvideochannel-sl2vm You're correct that stucco doesn't water proof anything. Maybe consider ordering some z flashing to size and just stucco the front of the new rim.
Dam. I have that welder and wanted to get that generator to run it. So it’s a no go?
COrrect the predator will not run any of my 110v welders
Good joob my man
Thanks
What bridge rectifier did you use?
sorry about the delay here is the one I use. amzn.to/4bcaFzE
I have the same welder. I'm looking to do the same modification.
Bro build a tripod next for your phone or whatever.
right, I need to come up with some camera or phone mounts so I can make some more in depth videos. Im a newbee with very little video experience. Ill learn as I go. :)
I guess I should have mentioned I am using a electro-tin plated aluminum not disimilar to all solderless connectors. Ive noticed in life there are those few who like to troll and make rude comments just to prove to the world that they really are smart. lol In my life I have disassembled many connections of aluminum and copper especially in high end electronics where heat sinks and aluminum terminal blocks are used. Some of the self proclaimed geniuses are just a nusience.
Hell yeah brother
Can you lift that in the 🚚 by yourself?
I can lift it onto my trailer. It was 202lbs shipping weight. UNboxed Im guessing 190lbs give or take. Its a great little welder for the price.
Hey man I’m about to buy one of these how has it been for you
It's very decent for the price.
Nice good idea man
Thanks!
Using propane you’re only getting 80-90% of the full power rating. Gasoline is where you would need to test the full rated output.
yes Gasoline is more HP output for sure. I like to run proane or alcohol for a few reasons. Havent tried wood gas yet. In the future. Running propane set at 60 amps I can run 3/32 7018 real nice. Low duty cycle. Not a bad machine for $500. Im testing it some more tomorrow. Se what the generator puts out.
😱 Promo sm
I got I got a big one
Great machine I basically rebuilt mine easy to work on the owners manual is online free to download all specks wire diagrams very useful good luck
Thank you! I did download the manual. It welds and puts out sufficient power for sure. The only issue is loud as heck. I'm going to upgrade the muffler. Although I've never used a real quiet portable. Long leads are a good idea. 🌄👁️🙏
Keep up the hard work your doing awesome and I hope that cough goes away!❤
Thanks. Ill be heading back to the homestead when this tralier is mostly done. That is where the real fun is. Everything except expanded metal for the deck. Ill shop around for some salvage. Im afraid the cough will be around for the remainder. I have COPD mostly because I commuted on a bicycle along busy roads for 20 years, and never wore a respirator performing such tasks as welding grinding etc when I was a young working man. Big mistake. My best advice to a crafstman. Wear a respirator. My cough is chronic bronchitis. How ever my lungs have improved in the last nine years. I was also a smoker a few times in my life totaling 25 years. Honestly Im grateful every morning when I wake up.
I fix and have just about every skill set and if I don't I learn lol
I can Identify. I know I learn and I improvise. Thanks for the comment!
Where at homie
The homestead is in Weston Colorado in the hills surrounded by the spanish peaks and sangre de cristos. It is about 8640 in elevation.
From the look of those welds all you need is a nail hammer to knock them apart.
You got that right. I did break a few with my 4lb fittin hammer. lol Although it was a great deal and a fun project.
Yes my mistake. Thanks
That would be 225 amp not watt, those put out about 10,000 watts on the generator.
My channel here is all new to me. Took me a while but figured out how to edit the description. I was a little excited about the welder. Got the whole rig for $600 I was thinking that's a good deal.
You can make 60 second shorts as well
Thanks I don't know how yet
