Sionyx Nightwave Install & First Test Run
We recently installed the Sionyx Nightwave Marine Night Vision Camera on our 2019 Sportsman 231 center console boat in order to add a margin of safety whenever we are out on the water past dark or headed out early to go fishing.
This a short video to show how it was installed as well as some footage of it running at late at night on Lake Texoma here in North Texas.
It's an extremely useful product to add a greater level of safety to your boat for night time or low light navigation.
Installation on your boat may vary somewhat but the basics elements will all be the same.
We are now a dealer for Sionyx products, and we would be glad to help you get one of these units. Feel free to visit us on the web at www.nightvisionoutfitters.com or via email at sales@nightvisionoutfitters.com.

IR Defense (Now Trijicon) Patrol M300W Overview
No wonder your night blind turn off your blue lights but whatever looks cool.
how did you wire the power wire to the switch?
One side to the negative bus bar and for the hot it's on the nav / anchor light which are attached to each other by jumper. I didn't want it on all the time and figured if the nav lights were on it'd be good to have the camera running.
@@myrondmorrow love the idea just wondering how you attached it to the switch. By jumper did you get an adapter to attach to the switch ??
@@jaredzeno Oh I gotcha. I clipped the original connector and then wired both wires together with a new connector. Works great. It's a low voltage item so power wise it was totally fine to do.
Awesome thanks !

We are soon to install Nightwave on the boat - Your video is very helpful. - We will be mounting it on the underside of the boat's T Top off center on the right side to not obstruct forward view while driving the boat ....Is there any adjustability to the left/ right horizontal angle of the camera once the mount is bolted to the T Top in case we might want to adjust the picture slightly left or right to get the best picture on our MFD? - I understand that we can easily adjust the up/down vertical angle.
You bet. It has vertical adjustment within the housing. For left / right, I would recommend not tighten down all the way until you hook up to the MFD in case you need to put a little pressure one way or another. There's enough play there to get it perfect. We have a ton in stock so feel free to get with us as soon as you're ready to pick one up. www.nightvisionoutfitters.com/products/sionyx-nightwave-marine-night-vision-system?_pos=1&_sid=c56c5f7f4&_ss=r
After seeing your video, my boat partner and I are considering adding NW to our 24’ bay boat in the same way you did ( underside so as not to block radar) to connect to our 12” Garmin MFD. By now, I am sure that you have used this night camera enough to comment on its real-world usefulness/practicality- do you find it really useful or just another cool thing to have on the boat?- Asking this as my boat partner has always been wanting to add some Lumitec underwater multicolored lights as our nighttime upgrade, and it is either one or the other ( nightwave or Lumitec) given cost considerations- Thanks
It's definitely worth having, especially with radar. Just the other night we went to eat supper at another marina across the lake. Coming back we had a boat anchored with no lights and a no wake bouy that the light was burned out on. The radar picks that stuff up, but that bouy was in some chop and really didn't paint on the radar much at all to notice. It was plain as day on the NW. In the grand scheme of it, it's a really cheap safety feature and worth having. I like lumitec UW lights on my boat too and they're nice for sure, but I would do the camera first if it were me. We don't use the underwater lights all that often, but they are very cool when you do.
This is great- Thank you
I have Furuno NavNet VX2 1720 and 1833 will this hook up to them and what will I need
I believe it will. It appears the 1833 at least has video input and if so no problem. It'll hook up to any chartplotter that has the ability to input and display video.
Is there a setting to have the Nightwave fill the screen on the Garmin? I have 1.5”-ish “margins” on either side of the picture on mine.
I think you can change it within the settings of the Garmin. We can double check next time we're down at the boat.
I’m not sure if I missed it, when you first turned it in, was your picture upside down. I mounted mine like yours and the picture is inverted. I cannot figure out how to turn the picture right side up
Correct. You can fix it on the sionyx app, or on the mfd display. Common issue though for sure.
What is the current draw per hour on this camera? How many watts does it advertise. I know it is a 12v item. Thank you sir.
Thanks for the question. They don't specify and we did some research and were not able to find that spec. With that being said it is very low draw and uses a thin gauge wire. We have not had any issues with battery drain on our current boat, and with leaving it on for long periods of time.
@@nightvisionoutfitters Thank you sir. I have not been able to find that spec either.
I thought it was the 16340 battery
vende solo in america 😞
I wonder how it would do on a UTV for hog and predator hunting....
At slower speeds it should work very well. I might add one to our hunting jeep and give it a try. It doesn’t pan and tilt like the night ride thermals but purely for getting around I think it’ll do the job fine.
Thanks for the review. I wasn’t sure if it has the locking levers …
Hello which holster is competible with this product ? Except surefire x-300
What’s options for a mount on a regular bolt action stock for a swivel head?
I'd like to know how bright the laser is. I have a tlr 8 aG. It's green laser is LAME. I also have a viridian C5L and it's green laser is a light saber!!!
will this work with the Trijicon M250 IR?
If you're referring to the M250 XR with the 60mm lens, then no it won't work due to the large lens. It will work for all the regular size Patrols though.
@@nightvisionoutfittersllc2069 it's 19mm. I want to buy your product and the Trijicon but have less than two hour battery time is ridiculous for a product that costs almost $10,000.
How would you rate this compared to a REPR IR 35mm?
Personally I would chose the NOX. Cheaper, adjustable focus, onboard rechargeable power, lighter weight, longer warranty. There's really not a true reason to choose the Trijicon over the N-Vision.
Nice unit, but no way am I supporting the CCP on big ticket items.
FYI these are being sold for $99.99 on a fire sale. Always have seen them for $200-$400.
Hello There, I'm wondering if what Model Number do you have ? Because I noticed that there's a Steiner eOptics TOR Fusion 3R Laser Sight/LED Handgun Light Combo and just the TOR Fusion 7001 Model. Please let me know at your earliest Convenience if you know anything about what is the Difference between the 2 Models and which one is the Best or Better. Thanks in Advance Allan
7001 is the green laser and 7005 is red. I the red is discontinued and I think the green one too pretty soon. Someone on Amazon and eBay is fire selling the green one for $99.99. I picked up two. I was pleased with the build quality of my first one.
@@trollzone1 Hello Troll Zone, The Laser Sight that you got from eBay, bo they have the 2 Black Screws ? or do they have the 2 Silver Screws with separate squared witness lug ? Please let me know ASAP, so that I can make My decision to buy one. Thanks again, Allan
@@allandonguines5991 mine are silvery in color but not as silvery as the box. I wouldn’t call them black.

Where is the country of origin? I’m looking for light/laser 700-800 Lumens not made in China?
Steiner products are built in the USA and in Germany. Not in China at all.
Not made in China.... Great news! I ordered one today. Even though I think I would have preferred 700-800 Lumens. I hope 350 Lumens default to brief 1 minute 470 max Lumens will be right choice for home defense if ever needed.
Well that's a start. So where is it made then??
@ no avail: I read China. So instead I got a Steiner TOR Fusion Laser Pistol Sight with White Light and Green Laser #7001 made in Germany
Awesome video! Was this private property? I'm asking because I want to hunt coyote with night vision but it seems illegal on public land.
What makes you say that?
@@coyotehunter8226Ambiguous wording on the Washington state website. Got any info?
I haven't been able to find anything about candela output for this light. Does anyone know where I should look? Steiner's website says nothing about that.
The Motac is pretty cool. I would've never thought about having that on a weapons Light.
Next time you might want to review it as if you were using it. Let's say like turning it on with your index and thumb as if you were presenting it to defend yourself from a threat to demonstrate the ease-of-use.
Good stuff
Technically the FLIR Breach is a law enforcement thermal. Meaning it’s not meant to be used at long range. It’s meant to be used in closer situations. So keep that in mind with the Breach. These scopes are purpose built and not universal. So just as the video shows, his rifle scope can really zoom and looks awesome whereas the Breach is best for law enforcement and home defense use cases.
From what I was told by a dealer is this one is a bit clearer than the scout so I ordered one. Haven't gotten it yet. Thanks for the video.
Thanx for all the research. What happens if the internal battery do not want to charge anymore. Can it be replaced or is the AGM then useless.
It can be powered externally. AGM can also service the internal battery.
It’s the one we carry. Here’s a link: www.nightvisionoutfitters.com/products/nvo-universal-nv-thermal-phone-adapter?_pos=1&_sid=6768c0efc&_ss=r
Hello there, my only concern is the battery, I have not been able to find out, how to replace it, or any viable external power bank, I charged mine and seemed good, but just lasted one day, most of the time in sleep mode, could be a battery issue, or cold be that in sleep mode it is discharging the battery as if in use.
If it lasted a whole day then it's working correctly. Sleep mode still drains battery, just not as much as active operation. Any 5V usb battery pack will work. Anker Powercore 10000 is a good, reliable one. As far as the internal battery goes, it cannot be replaced at home. It would have to be sent in to AGM for them to swap the internal battery.
Do they make a j arm for it? I don't have a bridge I do have a Wilcox G24
Not that I'm aware of. Your best bet, since you already have the G24, is a wilcox modular bridge. That way you're only getting it on one side and effectively creates a dovetail to dovetail J arm.
I've been debating on whether to get the Flir Breach or not but I believe this video sold me on the clarity alone. Thank you. Great video.
Hey Jesse. Currently we would not recommend the Breach. Flir is no longer offering products to the market and no longer supports them. Wouldn’t be a good choice currently. If you’re wanting a head mounted thermal then it’s best to save for an N Vision Nox18. If looking for just a spotter then we’ve got plenty of comparable priced options to the breach. Shoot us an email at sales@nightvisionoutfitters.com and we can help.
@@nightvisionoutfitters Is this statement still correct considering its for sale on their website currently?
@@tikityler1386 Yes we stand by it. They can still be bought sporadically, but FLIR is no longer serving the commercial market and support is non-existent. There are much better options from other manufacturers currently.
Was this with a nox 18 or nox 35?
This was a prototype/pre-released NOX35. The production unit is same image but a little more refined overall.
I just picked this unit up to compliment my PVS-7A's and up my night game!
ATN should include such an inspection sheet with their scopes. I got one that would not power up after trying to charge it for two days(trying to be certain it was not the cord or charger, used different each day). Returned it to retailer for exchange, still waiting. At least with that sheet one would know who failed.
True. We do not carry ATN products.

That’s great, What’s the make and model of the drone?
@@lukeweaver1002 It's a custom 3DR Robotics Solo with a FLIR Vue Pro 640 camera. We built it in house. It's since been sold and we're currently running the new Autel EVO 2 Dual and will soon be testing the new DJI Mavic Enterprise 2 Thermal. For the price point the DJI is very attractive. The Autel though is 100% USA built and supported, but is a little more expensive.

Neat. It's interesting how long the ground where the coyote stood in the center remained heated.
Can you mount this on to a gun?
no sir, it's a handheld only.
Bought the quick release B03-200-300 to mount a Pulsar Thermion XM50 thermal scope. This turned out to be an unworkable application because the scope’s "controls housing" rested on the mount's saddle when scope was placed in the scope rings. Contact is a no-no. Bobro's customer service refused to acknowledge this was a problem. They insisted they provided all necessary dimensional info on their website to make the proper selections. I pointed out where they were wrong in this claim, but to no avail. They didn't seem to care. Be aware that there is not enough space between the center of the scope rings and the top of the saddle to mount an XM50 scope. I did get my money back less $29 in shipping costs. Would suggest looking at ADM.
Hi Maggie you ordered the incorrect mount it sounds like (not from us obviously or we would have given you guidance). A standard B300-200 won't work with a Thermion because of the issue you mentioned. You needed the Bobro Thermion Mount. Bobro is a far superior mount design so far as return to zero in compared to ADM. Many independent tests have confirmed this. ADM is a good mount, but for the thermion or any other 30mm thermal scope, you do not want a cantilever style mount. Here's the correct mount that you should have purchased. We have mounted at least a hundred Thermions in these mounts so far. www.nightvisionoutfitters.com/products/bobro-engineering-pulsar-thermion-qd-mount?_pos=1&_sid=0846f0ba2&_ss=r
