@@PatrickBateman-co6cs Well if the laptop still works you should just keep it intact and use sunshine/moonlight streaming over Ethernet. But if not you would need a dp/power to edp adapter board and the correct edp cable. If it's 40 pin edp+non touch then it's generally one standard connector. 0.5mm spacing on the end that goes into the edp board and 0.4mm spacing on the end going into the display

@@KornFlace Yes you can raise ABL to 200 safely on any kuro from my experience, experience of others on avsforum, on Facebook and in my discord. No, it is not a reset and you can always put it back. Just don't go above 200 abl if you don't want to risk random shutdown on bright screens

I’m looking into adjusting voltages on a KRP-600A and 6090H. Do you know if there are problems associated with this, like there is with resets on 60 inch KURO’s?
Hi there, did you make any changes?
@@chrisohagan7982 No I haven’t done it yet. DirtGarry has some settings on the forums that might be worth looking at though
@@chrisohagan7982 no, not yet
What are you running for your ABL values? I run my 101fd at 230 with vol-sus at 140. I'm really pushing some nice peak brightness capabilities. I do have the internal fans running at max, aka always on. I've also attached two 120 mm USB exhaust fans. I've owned and reset a number of 50-inch and 60-inch sets using Patrik and Dirtgarry's methods. However, what I discovered is that most of what they recommend is completely unnecessary. On my latest 101fd, I discovered that resetting the pulse meter/panel is actually completely unnecessary, as are most of the adjustments recommended by these guys. All I had to do in order to remove the red tint completely and reduce the black level to visually zero is reduce SAD from 128 to 60. This creates the problem of "black rain". Because of this, most people never even attempt to reduce SAD to this degree; however, this issue is completely remedied by simply increasing vol-sus by a small amount. The only changes that need to be made are reducing SAD until the red tint is gone and until the black level is visually zero, and then increasing vol-sus to 135-140 (maybe more depending on the hours). I'm able to clear all masks; shadow detail is still good, and I have legitimately zero blacks with no dirty black effect. Do not touch any other voltages outside of these two. This whole process has been greatly overcomplicated, and oftentimes resetting your panel and tinkering with numerous voltages will introduce more problems than it fixes. It might be completely unnecessary. Less is more I will not be resetting any more panels going forward.
Very informative video. I just purchased an i1Display Pro and want to learn how to calibrate since we have Pioneer PDP-6010FD and Panasonic Viera TC-P60GT50 plasmas. I downloaded HCFR but am a bit overwhelmed and being more of a Mac user I downloaded DisplayCal which seems more newbie friendly. Since both plasmas are just for regular TV viewing do you recommend I stick with DisplayCal or further dip into HCFR?
They are totally different. Displaycal actually doesn't calibrate your display at all, it essentially calibrates your source to calibrate your display indirectly(by creating icc profiles and luts). HCFR is the only robust free software for actual hardware display calibration(which would apply on other sources besides the pc you use with displaycal).
@@displaytalkoh, ok. Still learning about this stuff. Do you think our Pioneer plasma will benefit from calibrating with your tutorial or would just a regular visual color bar calibration should be sufficient for casual viewing?
@@gonzoret with 6010fd you can calibrate it, but you don't have isf mode so just do the service menu RGB high. It will get pretty good. I had one. Just whatever you do don't reset the pulse meter on it. Voltage tweaking is ok if you know what you're doing and save original values. Resetting messes up 60" unlike 50"
Hi, is VYF178 OK for KRP500m with 22 220h just after reset? What you think?
It can be a good number. I set that one depending on the amount of black lag(black misfires on movement) I get. After some hours post reset you can lower it(or can reset again).
On your KRP-500M reset video you mentioned that you changed your Kuro from video mode to PC mode and then performed a new calibration. Did you find any way to reduce color saturation using the service menu while in PC mode? I have a reset 500m as well and really like the improved sharpness, 4:4:4 chroma, and higher black to get better shadow detail, but the saturation is crazy high. I can’t get any service menu values to affect white balance or color in PC mode
I swapped back to video mode and ISF day. You need to use a pc and a 3dlut to get SRGB/rec709 colors on the kuro pc mode. Additionally you miss out on the higher max luminance with the video isf modes which would be useful for hdr to sdr tonemapping or fighting glare in a lit room
And yeah what you see on the remote settings on pc mode is what you get. You can't use the normal isf mode settings with it. You have to use service menu white balance to calibrate it
@@displaytalk Interesting info with the 3dLUT. I’m not a big PC user so I thought the icc profiles were the same thing. I’ll definitely have to research it more. Actually the service menu white balance values don’t apply to PC mode. Only to the video picture modes / isf modes. I confirmed this by adjusting Red High in the service menu all the way up while in PC mode, then leaving the service menu to see if my WB was changed and it was exactly the same. I then repeated these steps with service menu Blue High and Green High, moving them all the way up, then all the way down separately. Once again, my WB in PC mode was exactly the same after exiting the service menu. The only WB controls for PC mode are the RGB sliders in the regular picture settings menu. Which are effectively the rgb high numbers for PC HDMI input mode.
What color profile are you using as a starting point on your Windows PC? Are you using the System default (sRGB IEC61966-2.1)? I’ve found that PCs connected to a Kuro display colors and gamma differently that other external sources due to the Windows color profile. Even in video mode when matching correct full (0-255) or limited (16-235) RGB color range .
I haven't changed the icc profile settings. I only use my pc so if different sources are different it won't affect me. But, do go on if you want to explain more. HCFR shouldn't be affected by any icc profile effects because I have the disable video lut setting checked in there.
I actually have not found a good solution for the icc profile throwing off calibration for non-PC sources yet. I was curious if you had discovered something or noticed as well. If you have the disable video LUT setting checked in HCFR during calibration, wouldn’t that cause the calibration to be off once you close HCFR and the icc profile is reapplies itself to PC content?
@@Cheesybread963 If it's applying to pc content yeah it would. But actually most programs aren't color managed and don't use icc profiles no matter what icc profile you have active. It won't apply to fullscreen games for example
@@displaytalk oh my I didn’t realize that. Ok thanks for clarifying. I just recently got my I1 Display Pro and I’m still figuring calibration out. Thanks for posting this video
@@Cheesybread963You're welcome!

But I adjusted the colors through the usual menu (for example, on 110FD, there is no RGBCMY setting in the service menu)
Yeah, I think the built in rec709 lut(colorspace 2) from pioneer just isn't perfect.
@@displaytalk But the blue one cannot be lifted in any way. Increasing saturation does not put blue in place.
@@dirtgarry But a displaycal lut could adjust the hue and saturation. Try putting in colorspace 1(native gamut) and make a profile and 3d lut in displaycal. I haven't done it yet because it's quite annoying to apply to games, but someday I think I will
@@displaytalk No, I've played around with the calibration. Now I just use 1 space and adjust the gamma. This display is for entertainment and not for work in the printing industry. It shows damn well out of the box.
I bought this software and been experimenting a lot with different options, GMFSS is definitely is next step from Rife, which i find to do a good job with anime / cartoons, but for high motion movies it makes mistakes. With RTX 4090 2h movie takes 94 hours, but i think its worth it for the best movies out there, you want to re-experience them in a new way where every character and movements becomes alive and real and I can't go back to 23 fps anymore as it looks so stuttery. Also after GMFSS encoding upscale is needed for some older movies to get image cleaner and sharper, that takes around ~13h as well with the best algos and AV1 - 144fps.
Are you using gpu av1? And pg104 gmfss? That's the best model so far. If you're upscaling you should definitely do it at the same time as interpolation so there's only 1 encode
@@displaytalk each video requires its own upscaling options imo, so i use topaz video enhance afterwards. i don't have pro version yet but i don't feel the need of those options.
@@BorealSine well svfi has basically every ai upscaling model. I don't use ai upscaling myself so I don't use any of them. Totally content with just using B-Spline Bicubic at playtime in mpv, even with dvd to 4k. Anyways encoding twice is no good, you want as few re encodes as possible
@@displaytalk I've not seen similar options to what topaz video enhance has, its just a tick to upscale a video in svfi, no other options. Also svfi doesn't save all audio tracks, so i have to re-add them after all these processes with mkv tool, takes few minutes. SVFI has option to save audio but it only saves 1 track, but movies im encoding has 7 voice-overs.
@@BorealSine Well SVFI gets new upscale models all the time. I can see all the models, but I am in the alpha(same as the beta branch which you can opt into in the steam preferences for svfi) and bought pro.
cant wait to gest my hands on a 4070 super ti, my 3050 is dog water with this.
Step one, make sure you have a very light controlled room because as good as Kuros and last gen Panasonic plasmas are- they are absolutely useless in a room with even a moderate amount of light. I'm one of the OG Kuro tweakers and after taking a step back I can now admit that virtually any 2013 Panasonic is better than any Kuro ever made. Color production is vastly improved over Kuro, motion handling is better (with the exception being the S60) and black level is visually on par. Here's the one that really matters though, longevity and reliability. Pioneer really screwed 8th and 9th gen Kuro owners with their faulty aging algorithms. Unless you plan on tweaking your Kuro and learning how to do it correctly, stay far away from Pioneer plasmas at this point. A stock Kuro will be mediocre at best.
In a lot of places the LG C1 or CX can be a better deal than any plasma now.
This is THE most helpful video on this subject on TH-cam. That being said, there was a point where you lost me (and perhaps other members of your intended audience). This video got me to something I was happy with, but I still had to compromise because I lacked the knowledge to fine tune things. Since this stuff seems to be your schtick, I hope you'll take this as constructive criticism/perhaps as a new video idea. The point where you lost me is where you took the resolution to the max that your CRT monitor can handle. I think it's safe to say that a lot of folks who are willing to make the compromises for a "nearly as good" result are people like me who are working with whatever they have. I wasn't sure what the max resolution my entry-level CRT monitor could handle, and so when you kept increasing resolution well beyond the recommended stats, I wasn't sure how far I could safely follow you without damaging my own monitor. An explanation of how to determine any given monitor's max, or otherwise a useful benchmark for entry-level CRT monitors, would have helped someone like me. For my particular needs, I wanted to have a shader that would remain consistent between both Fightcade and Retroarch. The addition of Reshade to your video was a godsend for this. However, since I wasn't able to determine what my safe max resolution was, I settled for 1280x960, since it was the highest multiple of 240 that was within my monitor's recommended display settings. I wasn't able to get Retroarch to do full screen at integer scale without adjusting my monitor per game, so I ended up using scanlines-sine-abs as my failsafe shader, and ultimately I'm happy with that. I have a suspicion that if I knew more a little bit more on this subject, I could come up with a way to use integer scaling across different 8-bit or 16-bit games, and still use one of those integer dependent shaders and have some more options. Sidenote: is there a reason why the parameters for scanline-fract appear to be different between Retroarch and Reshade? I can't tell if the parameters are the same and just listed differently, or if maybe they named the shader wrong and Reshade, but I wasn't able to resolve their differences well enough to make them appear the same whether I was using Retroarch or Reshade. Double sidenote: do you have any idea what the parameters for scanlines-sine-abs do? I can tell the amplitude makes the screen brighter/darker, but I have no idea what the phase does. It didn't appear to change anything as I adjusted it; maybe it's the type of setting that needs to be saved and restarted to see the difference in? Anyway, I still appreciate the video, I hope you take these comments in a positive way. Thanks for doing this.
I can answer one of your questions/comments right away quite simply: You can't damage a pc crt by sending too high of a resolution. The idea I talk about in my video is just sending one that's too high to be sharp. 1920x1440p will be pretty good for most pc crts, you can go higher until it doesn't scan out any more. I'll try to address the other scanline questions later
@@displaytalk Many thanks! I'll try 1440p like you suggested, then.

#1 you need to watch and use the mpvrife ncnn video on this channel, NOT svp(svp's ncnn rife is hopelessly slow), and not mpc. @@framo_official I only use SVP+trt rife(I have rtx 3080 so I can use trt) to stream RIFE stuff to other devices in my house. If I am watching in my room I use an mpv+vstrt rife script setup similar to the ncnn one I just sent you the video for, because it's way faster than SVP+trtrife
@@displaytalk greeat you earned a sub! :D but i might ask some more tomorrow lol i bet i get lost at some point ahaha oh that sounds cool but i figure i wouldnt be able to use that vstrt rife script without an nvidia card damnit
i have a player, for iptv, named SFVIP, they use MPV and there's a MPV.conf inside the folder, do you think i can make interpolation with RIFE starting everytime i use the internal MPV player inside this software ?
i want to use RIFE on livestream sport link webpage OR on specific video player, not MPV, like i have a specific IPTV player, but the thing.. the player is integrated IN THE SOFTWARE.. its MPV btw, but its integrated, so i dunno how to do it. I can have acces to the MPV.config in that software, but thats it. Can we just make RIFE with svp work on any window ? i'm sorry, i know my questions are weird, cuz i just dont know my stuff.
Yeah with OBS Virtual Camera and loading it as a directshow video device in MPV you can, but I don't have a guide for that, you're just going to have to figure it out(for now)
@@displaytalk thanks man. will try it, i'm a noob, but i'll try ?
I was seeing some stuttering, but the custom 36 rife scene change did the trick, tks
Is it normal for the videos to become blurry?
Downscaling is needed to get enough speed, so yes it is normal. If you want more speed(so you can downscale less) use an rtx card and my TRT tutorial
I say this so that they stop selling these expensive monitors of course they are a gem but I do it so that if they want to play retro games they don't have to buy or get 19 to 21 inch monitors that take advantage of the situation so that you know In any CRT monitor, no matter the inches, you can play with scan lines
I deleted your other 2 comments because they didn't make any sense. Sure, any pc crt has scanlines at 480p, what I say on the video is that the native/480p+scanline scanlines of 20" viewable is much too thick for most people. Smaller size has much more normal scanline thickness.
can you do video how to install mpv-gallery-view im having trouble
Dunno anything about that sorry
Ref contrast 40, colour 0 ...
hi i really have a problem and i need youn to help me i brought the samsung g5 dyssey 27 and since then iam trying to adjust colors the hdr has issues and i cant run it at 12bit unless i make it 60hz am i missing something or a bad monitor

You're welcome! It might work, just try it and see what happens.

@@thebennatorsame problem
some problem
well, just lower resize value until it works guys, I explained that in the video
please read the readme, there are 3 other ways to add transitions, and many other functions...
Yeah like I said on my discord I didn't go in depth for this video, just a very quick and dirty explanation of the purpose and how I personally make tc lists. Maybe soon I will make a video showing all of the options.
@@displaytalk Yes, I mean the new users, before they start, they should take a look...
@@ChristianArabellaundco oh ok, just the way that was written I thought you are talking to me
this is a great video going into detail! always wanted to use transition chooser to help avoid the weird blending of scenes. thanks for explaining!
Glad you found it helpful, thanks for the feedback
" the weird blending" you call this frames, we call morphed or ugly interpolframes. In TC "Blendframes" are the frames that really are the fading from one scene to another. Its a smooth transition and looks good. But some users prefer just a double (repeated) frame for scene change. You can decide what you want for yourself.
👀 I am the 100th subscriber (congratulations 😁)
Thanks!
I have a pioneer 508xd, does that also work with it? It's a 720p plasma 8th gen
Not sure, I never had one or read about resetting/tweaking them.
