    Wow! Thank you for your video! I have learned more clearly how to grow indoors without soil. I don't mind getting my hands in soil; getting into the dirt reminds me of my first enjoyable experience with mud pies, however I love experimenting with other growing medias. My best friend and I tried growing in non-soil, however, that lasted for a short season. I am going to send this video to her and see if she might find this as interesting as I have. Thanks again!

    I just ordered 2 more trays last night. I haven't done the math yet, but even with the seed cost, this seems very economical... a 1 pound bag of seed goes a long way. One 33" light and 6 trays would be a phenomenal setup for anyone imho (or 3 trays and a 17" light). What are your top 3 favorite varieties to grow?

    Always like to see what and how Happy Leaf'ers are growing. I do grow indoors in the winter, but only determinant, dwarf tomato plants using my Happy Leaf lights, although I did start all my seedlings in the house last year under my Happy Leaf Led's because I was in between greenhouses. I also grow all winter and start seeds and seedlings in the Spring once again using my Happy Leaf lights. I own 11 of them now and can recommend them without hesitation.

    Smart man, nice setup. We are also in a food desert. Even if I could purchase the things I grow, I either wouldn't be able to afford them or I wouldn't trust the quality. We make Pesto Pizza at home, there is no way we could do that if we had to buy basil. I would encourage everyone with the means to grow at least one thing at home and become self-sufficient. Pardon me for sounding cliche, but it is a game-changer.

    @Dr.Z3rdi 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Try and pinch your basil plants 1/4 inch above the leaf axils of each main stem. This will force the plant to branch into 2 main stems, become bushier and grow more leaves. You can continue pinching as the plant grows, causing 1 main stem to become 2, 2 to become 4, and so on.

      @brittrich7367 technically you can get some growth without a grow light, but in a window the shorter days will impact the growth, as will cloudy days, so a grow light makes it work much more reliably :)

    Do seeds prefer darkness or do you put the light on right away?

    • @HappyLeafLEDGrowLights
      @HappyLeafLEDGrowLights 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The seeds don't need light to germinate but you want the light to be there for them as soon as they germinate for the best conditions. Technically, you can leave the light off until they germinate - but we find it is easiest just to have the light on (using a timer), and let it do it's thing.

    I’m seriously considering buying your light because I’m strictly a vegetable grower (beginner). I recently bought a Spider Farmer Green Glow LED light that is 100 watts set up in 48” x 24” storage shelf . I haven’t had it for more than a few weeks but I paid about $109 USD. I hate the hanging but so far seems love the dimming and timer functions. AC Infiniti, Spider Farmer, and Mars Hydro also make veg lights.

    my leca/clay pellets has grown this sorta mold looking stuff, but it’s white. i was wondering if taking out my already growing plants from the net pots and cleaning the jars/leca would harm the plants?

    • @HappyLeafLEDGrowLights
      @HappyLeafLEDGrowLights 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The white stuff is most likely calcium carbonate that comes from water - a natural mineral from well water. Or, sometimes the nutrients can leave a residue. (Could be salt if you have softened water). None of this is harmful. It if looks like mold - fuzzy and no germination, then you have too much water. If you already have a plant that's growing, we don't recommend changing anything with the leca. I hope this helpful. If you would like to discuss further, just get in touch with us.

    • @HappyLeafLEDGrowLights
      @HappyLeafLEDGrowLights 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Denise - generally, you probably won't need to change anything because the plants will grow up a few inches and close the gap. If they start to look leggy, they need more light. If they start to look "parched" they need more water and possibly less light.

      @@HappyLeafLEDGrowLights hey your video didn't explain root rot directly. To prevent, do you just keep the water at the bottom of the pot as you mentioned about getting air?

      @@BetterLifeLibrary Yes, we keep the water level at the bottom of the pot and we also cover the jars with a black sock to prevent rot.

      Hello! Sorry for the slow reply. Yikes. Here is a general comparison and then with each light if you go to the website page on the "buy" button at the bottom of the column, you can find a spec sheet for more details. happyleafled.com/compare-products/ I hope this helps!
