Aurora Borealis Knives
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 9 มิ.ย. 2014
I have been a knife enthusiast for several decades now starting with my use of the good old swiss army knife as a boy scout. Since then I have always been working in the woods clearing quad trails at the family farm and cutting down trees for firewood. I have been an avid outdoorsman, interested in mountain hiking, camping, canoeing, fishing, hunting, winter camping, bushcrafting etc… Over the years, I have owned and used knives from most of the major knife companies and many from custom knife makers. Owning and using so many knives has helped me develop a good idea of what works and what doesn’t in the real world. I have been making my own hand made knives for more than 10 years using good old high carbon steels, stainless steels and the so called high alloy super steels. I hope you enjoy my knife designs and I’m always interested to hear your feedback so we can produce the best knives at an affordable price point. Don’t hesitate to contact me at auroraborealisknives@gmail.com.

The Emberlit is a classic. The stove that started it all. Thanks for sharing Alex
An oldie that stood the test of time 👍
Great demo brother! I have thoughts that maybe this system could use actual small hinges while the base holds it square. Good stuff my friend!😎👍
Several companies makes copies with hinges but I like this simple old school design
great knife as usual. is there another release of Voyageur coming up?
@@disgustipated7104 I will try to organize that
Cant wait to pick one up. I think this could easily take position as my workhorse knife for general purpose wilderness use.
That’s exactly what it was deaigned for 👍
Oh this is a must have !!
@@spektr540hemi thank you my friend
I'm ready!!!!! What configurations will be available?
i hope WT make this knife in 3v .
Noted 👍
I really like the way you present your knives, Alex. Very compact and yet everything important is shown and explained. I'm also a fan of your "simple" knife designs (without jimping etc.). Thank you for this. :) Since I'm on team no choil, I'm already looking forward to the Wolverine Gen 2 in K329 steel. Will the tip be thinned out there as well? After the last JoeX tests, a thick[er] tip would still be very welcome. Otherwise, I find the idea of WTG knives interesting, in which the first centimeters of the blade spine before the handle are slightly rounded to increase comfort on the finger and then keep the rest of the blade spine as sharp as before.
These are excellent points I’m really liking the k329 wolverine idea
Good stuff right here! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you 👍
Perfect for those not trying to out-show the Camp-Master with a Bear Claw or Kodiak but want a little more heft for chopping chores over the Wolverine! Well done Alex!😎👍
@@WEREWOLFUSMC thanks Carl 👍
Awesome knife buddy. Eager to get it out in the woods
Thanks brother 👍
I prefer this size over the Wolverine. 6 to 7 inch blade is what I found suits me best where I've been going. Beautiful design Alex!

Awesome Tool Brother 👌
Definitely one of my favourite 👍
Really great looking knife! How does it compare to your Wolverine? Thanks for all your great designs. I plan to put my Voyageur and Kodiak to work this fall and winter.
Because of thw longer blade it does chop better but it really depends if you like a clip point with a finger choil va drop point no choil
OK. Thanks for getting back to me. @@auroraborealisknives4019
Great review brother. I like it. I’ll be setting a reminder for October 25!!
Thank you brother 👍
Outstanding 💪💯🏆
Thank you 👍
I am on the fence with this. Hear me out. It's too big for a knife and too small for a machete, and if I want something to split the wood with, I would rather take a small axe. It's a skillfully made gadget, but to me it's in a category "nice to have" rather than "must have".
Many people like knives in this size range as a one tool option.
There’s a reason knives in this size range are so popular some of the most popular fixed blades that come to mind are the BK7 and the Esee 6 and of course this much superior mountain lion all have one thing in common the size range makes them versatile enough to do just about anything you will need to do, you can still choke up on the knife for small tasks but you still have enough blade for larger tasks as well, while still not being anywhere near the weight of an axe but having much more versatility. There’s a reason so many soldiers carry a blade in this size range because it’s as versatile as it gets for the weight and size.
@@calebfreeborn7053 agreed 👍
@@calebfreeborn7053 As somebody who served, I will tell you that unless you ride all day in a vehicle, you would want the smallest knife possible on you.
@@toomaskotkas4467I carried a Becker BK 7 as a Marine 0341 infantryman and I didn’t have any problems. It depends on how you carry it I suppose
Going to be grabbing one this month. Alex you said it has a convex edge. Just curious, how do you maintain/sharpen your convex edge in the woods? Thanks for the great designs!
@@stephangrobler5524 most of the time using a leather strop with compound is all that is necessary. If needed you could use sand paper on a mousepad
I’m saving up for this

I love my Helikon Bergen. Had mine for about two years now and it's hardly showing any signs of wear. I've increased capacity on mine by fitting the Helikon bushcraft dump pouches in between the side pockets and the front pocket. It's a superb pack, I hope you enjoy it for years like I have.

Dude I can't wait!
It’s a great mid sized knife !
Looks like a great all- rounder!!!
Absolutely 👍
I'm with you, I think this is the perfect bushcraft day hike pack! Enjoyed the video. 👍
@@DevilDog68 thank you !
Good review - Another thing to consider if you want to get this pack is the excellent value for money that Helikon-Tex once again brings to the table...I also have the Savotta Jakaari S which is in a similar price range , a bombproof pack but so much less comfortable and lacking in features compared to the Bergen. I use the Bergen not only for day hikes but even to go to work and travel. Pro tip : you can make it even lighter and more versatile by removing the plastic insert and replacing it with a cheap gardening knee pad which you can also use to kneel/sit in the forest. Had this pack for about 4 years, still in excellent condition.
Thank you for the excellent idea !
Nice pack. Considerably smaller than the HT Matilda but more heavy construction. Do I see a little Council Tool hatchet hiding under the flap?
You have keen eyes my friend ! I have been using that one for a while and plan to post a review about it. Spoilers: it’s an awesome hatchet
Still waiting on the next run of these...

You're in the forest, and you're harvesting wood, putting together a firepit, all of this with bare hands. What if you need to put something in your mouth or some other mucus membrane area, what are you going to do. I guess, the answer is wear some gloves. This seems to be forgotten in a lot of videos. I can't understand this...
Looks great to me Alex! Don't think the lack of a drain hole on the sheath is an issue since i've never seen one on a leather sheath and usually change into a bathing suit before swimming in the bush. Decent steel(very difficult to break and easy to sharpen). Quality sheath and overall design looks great for the price for sure!😎👍
