Ken talks as if anger is contrary to love. It's not. Anger (including God's anger) is a consequence of love (including God's love, if that's what we're talking about). Theological false dichotomies of this kind are destroying the Church, making it into just another avatar of the squishy sentimentalism of the moralistic therapeutic deistic age. A good father is angry with his children when anger is appropriate and children need to learn this. Failure to do so will corrupt their understanding of love and their relationship with God and neighbor.

I'm almost 70 and some of my older siblings, have left the Church (2)and the two oldest - one goes and the other one claims Catholicism but rarely attends. My oldest sibling loves Pope Francis and agrees with his changes. My parents had to hurt when two left the Church. Please pray for my family and my relatives who don't attend Mass. My mother's hope was that all 5 kids be in the Church before she died. I said 3 out of 5 going to Mass wasn't bad. She said it wasn't good. Please inform people to pray the Rosary and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Thank you.

Fr Larry, help me out. I have been an alcoholic in the past. I have tried hard to redeem myself. I had an argument with my sister today, who I love. Can a person ever be redeemed? I have been to confession. I have confessed. Bu;t can you ever really be redeemed? I'm trying, but feel like those who profess to care for me are distrustful, and trying to bring me back to a place of drinking. I just want to feel God in my life. I really want that connection.

Oh where were you when I was a young parent trying to raise my kids catholic. Because of circumstances both beyond my control and within my control, my older children today either don't believe or do but don't practice. I pray daily that it changes. I so could have learned so much from you both. God bless you and your ministry. Please pray for my adult children with me. Thank you.

I met Fr. Sharma back when he was still a brother during a pilgrimage to a Eucharistic Congress in Québec. What struck me about him is that he always had this smile on him and had a joyful personality. Glad to hear he's now ordained and serving in the Lord's vineyard!
