The most patrician film channel of all time. We do video essays, a long-form film discussion show called The Harbor, and various other experiments, such as Summit of Cinema, where multiple people give their takes on one film.
We do about 3 Harbor episodes a month currently and 1-2 essays or similar a month as well.

didn’t even realize this was a smaller channel good video :3 !!!
I loved the vibe of the third movie.
I deeply enjoyed the first two. I was a little put off by the third one. I gave up by the time they had to collect and carry a mermaid...
Well done, sir. I’ve only seen the first film. I plan to watch all the film, as I plan to do it for my podcast in 2025. TH-cam helped me look forward to it.
Curse Of The Black Pearl, Dead Man’s Chest and At World’s End are my favorites.
Really nice discussion - liked some of the side commentary about AI slopping and LOL that directing the foursome. Also: you guys watched cabaret? Also fosse but plays with the lgbt angle, amazing bodies, and national socialism.
Foss-ee. Rhymes with “Saucy”.
I saw Sorcerer in the theatre in 77 when I was 13. I thought it was amazing! The truck scene was fantastic on the big screen!
Just found your channel. Liked what you 2 had to say. I love this movie! I first became a fan of Roy Scheider in 1973 when I was 9 and saw The Seven UPs in the theatre. It has a classic car chase. Of course at 11 Roy blowing up the Shark blew my mind. I saw all of Roy Scheider's movie in the theatre. I saw Sorcerer in the theatre at 13, love it. The truck crossing the bridge on the big screen was cool. I saw All That Jazz at 15 and I loved it! The last shot of zipping up the bag forever stuck in my head. Another favorite Roy Scheider movie of mine is Blue Thunder. Best helicopter movie. It was a hit in the summer of 83. Not perfect but a lot of fun and shows off Roy as a leading man.
Bob Fosse changed dance in theater forever. From the Pajama Game to Chicago, and then to film, Sweet Charity to Cabaret. No one danced like Fosse, until everyone danced like Fosse. He was to Dance what Jazz was to music. A volatile and ambitious personality with a tremendous amount of talent and demons to match.
Just when you thought he couldn't get worse than Twixt he scrapes a lower level.
I mean, there's no comments yet, so yeah. It's Fosse like posse or bossy. Not Italian. English and Irish.
@@mikeyseviersspookshow5183 oops lol
This isn't a remake, I assume, because Friedkin was also adapting the book. I loved Wages of Fear and Sorcerer - I'm an EHS professional (environmental health and safety) and the idea of transporting dangerous material is so captivating to me lmao. I formulate a risk assessment and stuff while watching this.
Not voting Harris for that reason was crazy to me too because, like, the alternative is still going to fund Israel lmao. So, why not vote for betterment within our country at least??
Not voting for Harris because she is a shallow empty person with no brain. Pull your head out of your butt! She lost because 90% of the public saw how full of sh-- and empty she is.
Welp... that opening about the election aged so rapidly in the two days since we recorded...
One of the scariest movies ever!
All these takes are superficial in a "first viewing" scattered analysis way, but seeing them juxtaposed was really interesting, and this is potentially a rich format, the meta-analysis. Do another w another controversial auteur title like Beau Is Afraid or Babylon or Longlegs.
You should check out their video of Three Takes on Asteroid City!
We won the copyright appeal from amazon after weeks btw, that’s the only way this video is up.
It’s so awesome you were able to post this!
You guys are great! Frigging hilarious 😂 Great film and definitely way ahead of its time. Almost reminds me of a foreign film which I prefer because of their artistic style and intellectual substance. You guys definitely have it going on! Thanks for the awesome commentary and analysis! 👍🏼
Great!
The Omen from 1976 is a masterpiece and much better than the Exorcist. The Omen prequel (First Omen from 2024) was a load of rubbish which could have been much better.
Anyone seen the new one yet? What did y'all think?
Poe was from Boston, spent part of his youth in Virginia, served in military was stationed in Boston at a point and then died in Baltimore
yog sothoth is real? No, nO, noooOOOOooooo....AAAHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhh!
31:00 Aronofsky is a gnostic. Both Noah and Mother are gnostic interpretations of biblical stories. He is an idiot if he actually thinks the flood in Genesis is about climate change.
Great vid! Loved the dive into this corner of the extended TH-cam culture I haven’t had the chance to explore myself.
Awesome Vid! Thank You very much for Your Work! Greetings from Germany
Can anyone else remember the first youtube video they watched? I'd love to know
This movie makes me wamt to go to the clurb
The racist caucasian hate is pathetic and so played out. Done with you losers, no wonder no one watches this trash.
Your comment is racist.
The presidential inauguration ALWAYS happens January 20. January 6th is when Congress, led by the vice president, certifies the election results. "Jan 6th, the inauguration, or whatever..." Fuck you. THIS is why MAGA is this close to bringing Fascism to our country. Did you guys spend 9th grade civics class blowing your gym teacher?
Yes.
My bad, i misspoke. Lots of stuff went on that day lol. But since we’re all being pedants, Inauguration day was march 4th for the first 150 years of the US’s existence.
If me accidentally calling it the inauguration loses kamala the election feel free to DM me and i’ll send you a get well card
Lost a bit of respect for Smith doing the NFT scam

Kurosawa was deeply depressed that he couldn't find funding for Ran in Japan. He did incredible drawings for the film, he made dolls of the characters. I am honored to say that I was friends with a Frenchman who was the cultural attaché in Tokyo who met Kurosawa, he contacted the French Minister of Culture who flew over to Japan to meet Kurosawa and put money into the film which got it going. It's crazy that Kurosawa could not find any support for this film in Japan.
Also worth mentioning that Kurosawa had attempted suicide when none of the studios in Japan wanted to finance Ran. Insane that one of the greatest geniuses of cinema couldn't find any support in his own country...
Y’all prefer Ran or Seven Samurai overall?
Seven Samurai was perhaps Kurosawa's first mature masterpiece, Ran I think is his last perfect masterpiece.
I'm hoping Y2K is good because I really like Kyle Mooney, but the trailer is kinda of iffy. What do y'all think?
I listened to a podcast recently with a goofy commentator who made the interesting point that occultist Aleister Crowley had a real, visionary experience in 1906 in Geza, when he claimed he was visited by an alien, and that that vision was of a sexually fluid or bisexual world, and of a virtually simulated world. The commentator went on to say that all of Crowley's cooky occultisms were basically framing devices for his own homosexuality and the future world he foresaw but knew would not be realized in his time. The second analysis in this video had a similar outlook and made the most sense to me.
ooh but I adore the muppets haunted mansion
I saw a Instagram post of Alain’s character and Jane’s character by the pool when Alain walks up to her laying on the lounge chair and he taps the book she is reading and I was instantly intrigued by it and I thought I have to this movie so I googled The Swimming Pool and y’all’s podcast came up! Y’all’s podcast about it was very good and interesting I can’t wait to watch the film La Piscine✨
Country Bears earns points for having Christopher Walken do armpit farts.
❤❤❤
Another Kino Classic. 💯
Absolutely fantastic video. I loved going to Disney World and went down this same path you did with watching all the ride related movies
Dead Man’s Chest is the GOAT
The whole point is you go along with this guy, you get to know him, it's kind of charming. You are fine with him killing people, but then he rapes someone and is a racist, and the movie is saying "Oh that's where you draw the line, him killing innocent people was fine, but this, this you can't abide, you know he's not a good person, right?"
Kevin Smith is great, just generally speaking. He doesn't always make the best movies, but he knows his movies aren't all good, and it doesn't stop him from making more. He found his passion and made it happen, to admittedly mixed results. You should definitely check out Hollywood Babble-on with Ralph Garmen!
That movie is a cult classic!
When it comes to bad films, The Last Airbender is the worst movie I've ever seen!
Well, I'm in Australia. So fffffffuck you too! Oh, and thanks for the video. For me Aftersun is the ultimate "show, don't tell" movie. I'm thankful they didn't add any scenes to make it more obvious for dummies. Somehow, we all just got it. And it's simultaneously subtle and devastating.
