Yep, they had the rest stage on Glenoaks n Harvard but released them shortly after. Burbank def needs to add an extra full station to the city, Glendale as well. With the amount of medical calls I see them go to, at times you see them all tied up leaving only outside agencies to step in and cover.

Of course it can. Heat from parts of the car can ignite gasoline which was leaking from a ruptured gas line/tank.

@ which means the fire was never properly put out……. It’s literally the first thing that they teach you in firefighter one.

​@@thicok4555 a heated exhaust for example can easily ignite gasoline, regardless if a flame is present or not. If you're trying to push n say because they didn't properly cool the car down and all it's parts that's why it was never put out is incorrect. No flames n smoke is no fire. Fire is out. If there was no gasoline leaking that was the end of it but heat from heated parts of the car ignited the gasoline.

yep, Glendale fire had arrived on scene prior to their arrival and waived them down letting them know they are able to handle.

They used foam extinguishers from what I could tell, it was helping but the fire would start right back up since there was probably a flame source deeper into the gas tank or elsewhere that wasn't getting extinguished, so as it would continue to leak out from the gas line or tank, it kept lighting back up or picking up flames. I'm not sure if the engines on scene were carrying foam, but I saw them roll up engine 31 later on which may have been carrying foam. Again I'm just speaking from a spectators point of view.

@@The411TH-cam They were using dry chem extinguishers, not foam. While dry chem has a faster knock down, it doesn't seal in the vapors. Thus the fast re-ignition.

Someone else commented mentioning the ban on AFFF or class A/B foam use in CA, and I remember reading they were going to ban it due to the toxic chemicals. Upon searching I see that as of Jan 1, 2024 its been banned so probably the reason its not in use anymore. But I believe airports still can use them due to the federal law.

I think they did use the foam extinguishers but there was a leaking gas line or tank with a flame somewhere that wasn't being reached to extinguish which would keep flaring it back up.

It's banned in CA now due to the toxic chemicals.

They recently added the Squad (at least a year or so I'd say) and its the newer one. The older BLS is the reserve 21 now. One thing I don't get though, is that from what I understood, the Squad was suppose to handle without an engine and also respond to residential/commercial fires in place of a BLS. But I always see Squad 21 respond with BLS 21 for medical calls. Never see it by itself, so not sure what the point of it is then. Yeah I guess 2 less guys (4 in engine and 2 in BLS lets say and now its 4 total instead of 6), but from what I understood when they announced it, was that it would handle by itself without any need for additional resources. I even see at times a truck or engine accompany the Squad and BLS but I assume for those calls they requested additional man power.

Yeah you're right, I just saw some of the episodes you were mentioning. It sucks the quality isn't so great. Hoping someone will have some decent or good quality videos of the older engines n trucks Glendale had.

Not sure exactly what they do, or if they specialize in a certain area of hazmat materials.

They primarily deal with the regulatory and enforcement aspects of hazardous materials and waste management. Serves as the Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA) for Los Angeles County, administering several state-mandated programs related to hazardous materials and waste. (I had to Google it too lol)

Mutual aid. Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena as well as 10 other departments which are all under mutual aid with Verdugo Fire Dispatch work together and get dispatched for mutual aid. Glendale and Burbank work closely together since they are next to each other and regularly provide mutual aid even for medical calls. Pasadena as well.

I thought so as well, but the guy being transported was the bicyclist I'm pretty sure. There was only one transport, and there was a second person who was detained by police being questioned sitting on the curb so yep.

Community Emergency Response Team Volunteer, basically volunteers who go through training to be a part of CERT (community emergency response team) who respond to disasters or major incidents to provide basic first aid, or other tasks like evacuations, communications and so forth. @@jamesscott2894 Oh really? For me it shows as a short, it must be TH-cam's transition which hasn't fully converted over. They recently started allowing shorts to be longer than 1 min but for some people it will show as a regular video until the upgrade on TH-cam's end fully goes through by early next year. :/ I also asked you a question on the Altana apartments fire in glendale, not sure if you saw my question.

Yep, I didn't know about these either until I started seeing FD's using them. They are self controlled for the most part and fly up and give an aerial view.
