EP18: Be that person.....
I have taken inspiration from the song that I have just learnt to play on the piano recently. Bill Withers 'Lean on me'. A beautiful song that talks about being that person that someone can lean on. Being that support. Reaching out to friends and family and letting them know that you are there for them. And you know what? This is reciprocal! If you invest in relationships and look out for others, invariably, those same others would look out for you as well. It's just the way it works. And if they don't, just keep on being that person as it makes the world a better place.

EP17: Life is a gift. The gift of today.....
มุมมอง 192 หลายเดือนก่อน
The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today. People, we've all heard this several times. "Life is not a rehearsal". We've only got one go at it. So let's appreciate that it is a gift, wake up every day and make the most of it. That's why it's called THE PRESENT. The future starts today, not tomorrow. Also, remember that YOU ARE A GIFT! By being yourself and having positive encoun...
EP16: You have to COMMIT! (there are no easy options)
มุมมอง 202 หลายเดือนก่อน
Over the summer holidays, we try to have a break and find time to relax with family, loved ones and friends. It's a time to 'down tools' and enjoy ourselves. But now that the summer holidays are over, it does take a bit of effort to commit back and focus on what ever journey we are on. This happens to the best of us, but once we are committed, we do somehow find the motivation. The important po...
EP15: It takes time to become an OVERNIGHT SUCCESS (just like MESSI!)
มุมมอง 184 หลายเดือนก่อน
There is no such thing as an Overnight Success! It takes hard work, dedication, discipline, desire, motivation, sacrifices, overcoming failures and disappointments, self belief, hunger and a time. There is no such thing as instant gratification. You have to put in the time and effort, pay your dues and maybe, just maybe, you might become an overnight success. With the Paris Olympics recently co...
EP14: It's ok to take a break (for a moment)
มุมมอง 84 หลายเดือนก่อน
The shortest distance between two points is a straight line but we all know that life isn't like that and we sometimes have to have a few bends in the road to get to our destination. It might also mean taking a break on that journey due to circumstances life throws at us. The important point though is to know how long the break is for, to plan for it and to commit to it. Don't lose sight of the...
EP13: SUCCESS - the fulfilment of potential
มุมมอง 97 หลายเดือนก่อน
youWhatever talents and natural abilities you have, you should be aiming to make the very best of them, despite or inspite of the circumstances you find yourself in. If you can look yourself in the mirror and say you did the very best with what you had, then that is SUCCESS! And for all the students taking exams at the moment, aim for at least the fulfilment of your potential, if you cannot exc...
EP12: Examples of SUCCESS (Rafa Nadal and Bukayo Saka)
มุมมอง 198 หลายเดือนก่อน
A reminder that success as a human is foundational - treating people with kindness, with empathy, with compassion and ultimately treating someone as you would want to be treated. Also, that success as a human and in one's chosen career/profession or whatever context should go hand in hand and are not mutually exclusive. So always remember that if you can show up every day and be a decent human,...
EP11: Keep The Grind! (Stickability)
มุมมอง 439 หลายเดือนก่อน
A little bit of a pep talk (to myself) as any learning journey can sometimes become a bit of a drag when it just seems as if progress is very slow. At such points, its about just grinding out results, sticking with it and trying to find some way of getting through it by focusing on how you will feel when you finally achieve your goal. So keep going!
EP10: Brain Health - Carry On Learning!
มุมมอง 1410 หลายเดือนก่อน
As its still early in the new year, focusing on what I have learnt since I embarked on my learning journey of learning to play the piano and reflecting on some of the things I have learnt. Sharing 10 things I have learnt since I started some 6 months or so ago. Trying to encourage us to form a habit of continuous learning because of the benefits it has in keeping our brains healthy.
EP9: New Year Reflection - The Glass is always Half Full
มุมมอง 1911 หลายเดือนก่อน
As its the beginning of a new year, reflecting on the progress I made last year since I started my journey in learning to play the piano. Focusing on my accomplishments (as little as they may be) rather than what I haven't done.
EP8: The Yet Principle.

Charting my progress from being an absolute beginner to seeing how far I can go in learning to play the piano. I finally sign up to a music teacher and I will be telling you about my journey. I'm hoping that through my journey, I can provide a little bit of encouragement to you to start on your journey of whatever it is you want to learn as well. And we can both hold each other accountable. Let...

Dear PE. I've been playing piano since 1960 at nine years old. Been a piano teacher for 40 years. My only job. I always check videos like yours. I still practice every day. I am always looking for new stuff. The more we learn the more we realise how little we know. I like it like that. I'll never run out of more to study so I'll never get bored. Thank you very much. Bill

Dear Bill. Wow! Thank you very much for your feedback. It is very encouraging! I just post and hardly ever see comments. It was my daughter that pointed this out to me and hence the delay in my response. Thank you so very much. If you've been playing the piano since you were nine in 1960, that makes you a very young 73 with 64 years of piano experience. For you to say that you still practice everyday with all your experience, confirms to me that there is always room for growth and I just hope that I can still be playing when I am in my seventies as well. Once again thank you and keep practising and learning! The Piano Encourager

This is great! I just began a couple months ago myself and I absolutely love the process from knowing absolutely nothing at all, then suddenly knowing how to read notes and play with both hands. Gotta celebrate the little victories! My instructor hasn’t been too happy with how fast I’m trying to play though so I’m learning on precision and slowing down right now . Congratulations on your progress.
