Watching numerous videos on these cameras it always seems that the colors with the LUMIX are just better than the Sony.

Dope review! I was between the 2..looking to move out of GH5 simply for the low light capabilities. GH7 is good but S5iix low light might do it for me.

So I have the original S5 and I literally just made a video saying how I’m not going to upgrade because the footage I get is comparable to the Sony FX3…people really sleep on lumix but I prefer their images over the highly overratted canon and Sony plus the price and value is incredible

To all the Sony guys out there…it’s kinda telling that a cheap(ish) hybrid is being constantly compared to and doing really well against the Sony’s cinema lineup. The Sony mirrorless era is over, you have to compare LUMIX to a different class of camera to even get a tie

As videographers, we are blessed with lots of great cameras. The camera market is... kind of weird. everyone is hyped about higher resolutions (8K, anyone???), yet the 4K cinema and hybrid cameras from Sony seem to be doing pretty well for themselves, despite being, what, four years old now??? Personally, I love my S5 IIX. It would have been great if Panasonic had released something with the 12MP sensor in the FX3 / FX6 / a7S III (and good autofocus) four years ago. I am guessing Sony wouldn't sell that sensor to Panasonic.

The not having an EVF but with S5iix-ish features is why I want this.. It's like a semi updated Sigma FP

Does the smallrig cage allow you to mount the S9 vertically on a tripod, there is another cage designed for the S9 but it doesn't have a screw for vertical mounting

Reliable AF and 4k120 is well worth the money to me, open gate is useless if its not in focus at all, slow readout speeds means jello effect when i whip pan. No IBIS would replace a gimbal, if i need stability while moving, it is inevitable to go that route Different tools for different needs I’d say

The best Camera for Content creators is the Fujifilm X-M5, for near half the price you get better features, true Film Simulations. Headphone and Mic Jack, Hot shoe, Flash Compatibility and a massive host of small portable lenses. All for $799! The S9 is a joke at $1500 msrp 😂

If I had to start all over again I’d go LUMIX. Partly for kicks, partly for opengate, partly for the IBIS. Currently, I’m heavily invested into Sony glass and understand how it works to get the images I need with my A7IV and going through the process of liquidating my entire setup to rebuild my kit and learn a new system isn’t worthwhile for me. When I get to the point where I can’t do what I want with the tools I have, I’m sure I’ll look elsewhere, but for now I’ve not reached the ceiling of my current camera (:
