Barbara Kay vs. Pamela Palmater & “There is No Objective Knowledge” (Shepherd-Laurier Affair)
มุมมอง 1.8K6 ปีที่แล้ว
Very difficult to find this video via Google or CBC News channel/website, so shortly after airing 20·XII·2017. Western Civilization is in deep trouble when people teaching at universities state that there is no such thing as objective knowledge or that free debate to seek objective knowledge must be curtailed by “respect” for any group-identity.
MICHAEL COREN: NON-RELIGIOUS DEFENCE of TIMELESS MARRIAGE in WESTERN/EUROPEAN CIVILIZATION & CULTURE
มุมมอง 997 ปีที่แล้ว
Both segments originally broadcast (over-the-air) in May 2011. In 2015, Michael Coren had an alleged “epiphany” but he has yet to directly & absolutely refute (publicly) this classical defence of timeless, traditional, naturally-sustainable marriage. John Downs is your typical “Progressive” here with a hypocritical & incoherent argument with some hysteria; according to the likes of him, “the de...

    Ms Palmater comes across as overwrought and something of aa zealot. No objective knowledge? She seems to conflate objective knowledge with "perspectives"

    The last comment of Pamela Palmater is very revealing: “There is no such thing as objective knowledge “. This is the Postmodernist philosophy that is taught in the humanities departments of many Universities: the only way to reality is through feelings; reason cannot be trusted to reach reality; hence there are as many realities as they are feelings; hence no objective knowledge. Deridan & Foucault. Jonathan Haight in his book “The Righteous Mind” explains well the psychological basis for this philosophy. Bernard Pech

      There actually isn't because we always perceive and make meaning of our experiences through our individual lenses. These colour how we interpret information and then how we communicate that. Even within the "hard sciences" information is filtered through our biases, which is why you can get many people looking at the same thing and coming away with different opinion.

    In 6th grade I started with Jurassic Park the very year he died. Thats where it all began. Now I've read The Lost World, Congo, Prey, Timeline, The Andromeda Strain, State of Fear, Eaters of the Dead, and now I'm reading Pirate Latitudes and can't put it down. It still saddens me how he died the year I found him, 2 days before my birthday.

    A sports guy gives his opinion that the traditional notion of marriage in our culture should be upheld and the notion of same sex marriage is wrong. So he is fired and that is all right? So he is not allowed to speak? Or he is fired. This is ridiculous. Hush hush, unless you say you agree with the new notion of marriage.

    Let's get real - the man was a fiction writer, he used science fiction to drive his stores and sales - If he has a scientific truth to share he should have written it up. All he had to offer was a bunch of hot air to help the want-to-know-nothings self-justification - oh and sell lots of books. +Illustrious Potentate - you have been an inspiration - allow me to share the introduction - "So, you wanna debate Michael Crichton's fraud?" whatsupwiththatwatts.blogspot.com/2015/11/michael-crichtons-fraud.html"A fella was offended that I dissed Michael Crichton in the comments section of a TH-cam video of his 2008 appearance on the Charlie Rose show. Considering I still hear people using Crichton's science-fiction State of Fear as though it were some serious guide which justifies distrusting and ignoring today's fact based climate science understanding, I find the once quite interesting writer turned himself into a despicable sociopath and I'm not going to let Potentate's criticism go unexamined. I'll back up my opinions with links to many more authoritative and informative articles that dissect and explain his errors. …" Come on down, I promise to post your comments.

      So much for the spirit of healthy constructive debate. Shut it down with threats. And like I was trying to explain to you it's about Crichton maliciously lying to people about critically important matters. It kind of poisoned the man's better qualities. Sorry that you don't seem to take AGW seriously, perhaps you also believe warming up our planet is a big joke of no consequence and that we ought to ignore it.

      Last year CERN (the multi-billion-dollar Centre for European Nuclear Research) told CERN Courier subscribers that all the climate models must be re-done. CERN reported that its CLOUD experiment had used its huge particle accelerator and a giant cloud chamber to demonstrate that the sun and cosmic rays are the real ‘mystery factors’ in earth’s climate. The research supports the contention that CO2 is only a bit player.” The article in the CERN Courier reveals the thinking of those experimenters on the importance of understanding the role of clouds on climate: “’This is a huge step for atmospheric science,’ says lead-author Ken Carslaw of the University of Leeds, UK. ‘It’s vital that we build climate models on experimental measurements and sound understanding, otherwise we cannot rely on them to predict the future. Eventually, when these processes get implemented in climate models, we will have much more confidence in aerosol effects on climate. Already, results from CLOUD suggest that estimates of high climate sensitivity may have to be revised downwards.’” Very simply, the science advocated by the IPCC, NAS, AGU, etc. does not have an adequate understanding of the role of atmospheric clouds to draw any conclusions, much less the conclusions these organizations have made. what I really appreciate about crichton is that he's not a political animal. he's willing to examine both sides on an issue and take a stand, and he is willing to change his mind with new information - something so many people simply cannot (or will not) do.

    • @Bronco541
      @Bronco541 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      What I don't understand is the strong argument against abortion because it's "murder" ("of a baby") when we gleefully murder animals by the thousands everyday. We willing go to war and murder other adult humans all the time, in the name of everything under the sun. People don't have any problem with murder. People seem to have a problem with hurting cute things. As long as we can feel some emotion toward it in some way; leave it alone. But if it's ugly; who cares; it's not "human". Or it it's not important. This btw, is just my observation, not my personal position on the matter.
