MaxxAir Fan Repair: Voltage Regulator Install
มุมมอง 2704 หลายเดือนก่อน
My MaxxAir brand MaxxFan has been giving me some trouble. I narrowed it down to the input voltage being a little over 1.5V too high. The solution was to install a voltage regulator to limit the voltage to 12V. The symptoms I was having: 1. Press the power button to turn the fan on. 2. Fan opens and operates for about 4 seconds. 3. Fan would beep while flashing the green LED. 4. Fan motor would ...

I am getting 2019 S1000R in few day. Must be quite a change on a race track after zx6r. Can't wait.
You're gonna love it! Check out some of my other videos. 👍
There is a quick hack to address the auto blipper issue. You can reset the lever play to .5 or as you prefer within spec then simply bend the blipper swith contact breaker plate to a more open angle and your problems are sorted just bend it very little at a time. You don’t want to bend it too far as this can cause issues with auto blipper in the form of unwanted auto blips.
Thanks for the comment! There is also a bypass bracket with a tiny torx screw that I ended up using. Just flip the bracket around, and it permanently depresses the microswitch. It's been flawless ever since.
Thank you!
Hope it was helpful!
@@mk3brent Yes. I'll be revisiting it probably when I'm able to do something like this. Limited budget at the moment but I hope to do something like this with formula SAE next year.
The main event is at 4:40. Excellent recovery by the filming rider, that could have been really bad. That was a fast crash!
he jumped off lol
2:58 the bike is most stable when on throttle. Best to get direction and roll over the bumps while on throttle. Takes confidence building but the really fast line is on the bumps there. I have a video posted and you can hear the throttle cracking open just before the bumps. I CR with N2 when I can, maybe we’ll cross paths at the track one day
That would be awesome. Let me know.
That's the corner I had brake failure going into 😅
T8... gets the best of us. Not me though... 😁 Hope you're recovering dude. Hope to see you next season.
Bro is trying way too hard to scrape the knee. There is no need to be that far off the seat, he's barely leaning the bike.
Nice video would like to see more of these breakdowns of different tracks 👍
You got it. I'll get some more next year. VIR is another track I go to often. 👍
Hope he is doing well. Came up on the bike coming out of that turn with the bike mid track. Pretty high speed corner so hopefully wasn't too bad. I was on the green honda cbr600 #12.
Yeah, he's fine. Bike wasn't too bad either. Hope you had some good sessions this weekend. Weather was gorgeous. I'll see if you're in any of my videos.
@@mk3brent Oh yea! It was a killer weekend. Good weather and I got my A class bump so definitely one to remember. I appreciate any videos you have of me as I was so focused on my riding, I forgot to hook up my go pro. -_-
Hanging off too much?
100 points of grip. Rear tire grip consists of lean angle and throttle. Some tires can maintain traction at higher forces than this one did. Before the rear tire lost all traction, you can see the bike leave a long black trail before sliding out completely. In this case, too much throttle at the given lean angle exceeded the 100 points of available grip that particular tire had to offer. It was not a track oriented tire. (Pirelli Angel GT)
@@mk3brent That was some monster speed and lean angle into that turn. I do think that even small power/low output bikes benefit greatly from traction control electronics as you can exceed grip via throttle...just lean more! I did see a large percentage of track bikes using street tires at Barber a few weeks ago. Maybe not Pirelli Angels, but Road 5/6, RoadSmarts, GP300, of that sort. I personally used Metzeler M9RR and had the TC light flash at me several times per lap although I didn't feel any tire slide. I had TC turned up to max, though, and I trust the TC. I'm OK with flat track and dirt bikes, but on pavement everything happens so quickly that you're on the ground even before you realized you've crashed.
Perhaps unhelpful, but that could have turned into a nasty highside…better that crash than a high side.
Always choose smooth body movement for fine adjustments instead of chassis inputs...even more so at full lean and when off line.
Oh nooooo.
Please please respond I have a question.. First of all great van build it look very adequate for taking bikes to the track, well taking bikes anywhere nice job on that one. My question is... With the r&g frame sliders does the clutch cover, stator cover and timing cover and bolts clear the ground when the bike is laid on either side? The reason I ask is I'd like to know if I still need separate protection for them or will the frame sliders alone do the job?
@@512460 I am not sure if they would! The frame sliders don’t stick out too far, but would help probably with simple tip overs. I’d opt for some added case covers for more protection.
@@mk3brent thanks for your speedy response
What airbag vest are you using?
At that time, it was a Hit-Air MLV vest. Today, I'm using a Hit-Air RS-1 vest.
@@mk3brent thank you!
"Where are we, and what are we doing?" The mantra I repeat in my head when I am getting ready to head out for a session! Sorry about your friend Elvis. Glad nobody was seriously injured. This is a great reminder of how much your head and focus have to be in the right place before getting on a race track. Thank you for sharing, I will definitely revisit this advice as a reminder frequently.
Quality content! Precise, factual and to the point!! A must watch for Novice riders. Track orgs should be utilizing this clip to emphasize the consequences of losing focus!!
Thanks for letting me use your video for demonstration. 🤝
Jeeez. Nightmare fuel. What do you think of NCBIKE? I have only gone to CMP, looking to branch out.
NCBIKE is a great track for practicing your technique. It’s a very wide track that is fairly flat. The sections with long sweeping corners allow you to spend a lot of time on the edge of the tire and get comfortable with body positioning. You should definitely check it out. YCRS has a few events there every year and I encourage you to consider taking the school. 🤙
As always, happy that Elvis did not leave the building. Great video. Concise with no unnecessary fluff. As the character of Mozart in Amadeus famously said, there are just as many notes as required.
Thanks, B-rad. I'll have to use some of your brake lever view videos for the next one.
Absolutely Brilliant video!! Love the visual and breakdown on each segment. A must view, especially for newbies that are trying to understand the fundamentals!! Keep it coming!
Nice work, B-rent. I'm talking to you while watching and saying "gas on now" and you do it. Excellent. I come out of 14 and hit that "pointed" part of the yellow also. Kudos for helping to clearly educate other riders with actionable facts. Many who want to go faster start at carrying more speed at lean and more lean angle...wrong-ola.
I appreciate it, B-Rad. I'm looking forward to the next event, which might be my last one for the year. I was thinking about putting together a short series of these videos for a fun project. Hope you can contribute. :)
Love all the YCRS jargon....... for T14 I saw you stayed in a higher gear... would it be better to get down to a lower gear in something like an R6 or will that make the bike too twitchy on exit? I know a guy who highsided out of T14 from too low a gear
I'm also on an R6 and use 2nd gear for T14. 1st is too difficult to manage and 2nd let's me get on the gas earlier and harder with less risk.
Thanks for commenting! Gear selection for different turns on a racetrack will be a bike dependent situation. In my case, 2nd gear works as a compromise between exit drive and wheelie mitigation/chassis stability. On other bikes, 1st gear may be totally acceptable and even objectively better when comparing the lap time data. I'm a data driven person, so I look at my split time reports and compare which change makes what difference in my overall performance. See what works for you!
I run an R6 and use second with stock gearing, just have to commit to the corner with proper technique and keep corner speed up. I run a 1:39.2 for reference.
Great time! I’d like to run some 30’s next year. Gotta keep practicing. 😀
@@mk3brent Could you talk about or maybe do a video on your data logging setup? I'm an engineering student (in a motorsports program) and would love to hear about what sensors and software are needed for this sort of thing. Thanks, great video. Track looks smooth as glass compared to when I was last there.
You got to turn the the silver plate at the bottom 2:00 of the lever micro switches to get the quick shifter working right
Yep. Did that later. Bike is flawless these days.
how much do you weigh? any sag setting suggestion?
190lbs without gear, and my sag numbers are a little goofy. I only ride on the track, front is 36mm rear is 21mm. Next Monday I’m adding preload to the front by a couple mm and reducing the rear equally. Bike handles great for me. Electronics are set to Dynamic and the “2up” setting enabled for increased firmness.
@@mk3brent thanks for reply ,on the other video you were having a auto blipper problem there is a silver plate at the bottom of the clutch lever you got to turn to activate the switches for aftermarket levers.
Nice riding!
Thank you! Hope to see you out there sometime. -B
You've gotten miles better at everything since we started riding together. Nice work! And congrats on "da bump!"
Thank you, B-Rad! Also thanks for measuring my sag for me. Two sets of eyes can't possibly get it wrong. :)
@@mk3brent Did you modify like we talked about before riding it? Notice anything?
@@b-radsadventures6846 I was done for the day. I'll make the changes for the next event in a week or so. Will report back how it does/changes.
Nice job. I'm surprised that a vehicle component wouldn't work with 13.6VDC (or anything up to 14.8 or so).
@@b-radsadventures6846 agreed. When I was reading through all the other customer complaints, it was this and circuit board corrosion issues. The board sits inside that enclosure and gets moisture on it. Others spray conformal coatings to prevent corrosion.
You are magnificent on and off of the track. A true gentleman. This setup video should help many of out track day siblings. And your riding has come a long way due to your thirst for knowledge. Keep it up, van man. (I hope that this doesn't make me too famous!)
Thanks bud! And also thanks for the tow.
Is Solo 1 DL compatible with RaceStudio3?
The data can be viewed in RS3. The sync on some channels appears to be off when you compare it to RS2. I'm not sure if there's a setting that can help line them up again. Example: When I overlay my brake pressure graph to my GPS speed graph, my brake pressure peak is several seconds off from where it should be. In RS2, it's perfectly lined up.
@@mk3brent Thanks for the detail information :D Have a nice day!
thank you!
Can these bike run with A class super sports?
Yes, of course! A fast rider can ride a SV650 in A group. This bike is a 165hp liter bike that does 160mph, so it definitely holds its own. 😎
I'm green with envy...but Road Atlanta is coming up fast! Hydrate!
Wish I could!
Hope to see you again at another event! Be nice when it cools off a little. Gonna be mid 90's this weekend.
@mk3brent Yeah I was just a pittrace this past weekend. Pirelli tire shortage has my trackdays stymied.
Are you riding with PRE @ VIR next weekend?
No, but I wish! You riding North and Full? Looks like it’ll be 3 days of a ton of fun.
@@mk3brentI’ll be there for two days of North but not full 🥹
Great to see you back on the FZ. The camera angle and sound are your best yet.
Thanks, Chris! Hope to rid with you again some day.
Now there's a guy who can internalize some instruction and training materials. Nice job! That's a great toolbox color. Let me know if you want some stickers. You've got a face for film. We should see you on the big screen.
I see your front end getting a lil swirly, do you have the stock steering damper?
Yep!
The exhaust sounds amazing. I recently picked up a '19 S1KR in black & need to do an oil change soon. Thanks for foil trick. Will definitely do.
Dang you do all that in road mode, do you mind sharing your sag setting and weight, I can’t seem to get mine stable like yours is. I have head shakes and the rear wallows around mid corner. Thanks nice riding!
Hey Steve! Yep, 'road' mode works just fine for me. I'll have to measure my sag to get you a number. I weigh about the same as you 185-190lbs. I'm 6'2" to get an idea of my center of gravity. Stock rearsets and handle bars. My current settings are 14 turns out on the rear shock, and 5 turns out on the front. Suspension is set to 'Dynamic' and the setting for '2up' riders is also selected. Currently, the rear is a bit too stiff still. I'm going to try a couple things next time to see if I can improve that. I hope this helps.
@@mk3brent 5 complete turns out on the front!? How are you not bottoming out? This is interesting. I’m going to try that. It’s strange how sensitive the handling is with this ddc setup, the more I read in the forums the more I see people struggling with this many even selling the bike because of it.
@@stevewill3572 I'm reading my notes for when I last adjusted them. I wrote down the front fork adjustment has a total of 11.25 turns. So I am at ~5 turns out from full in. My ziptie looks reasonable in dive, and I feel pretty stable on the brakes. Check out my other video here. th-cam.com/video/PHGjy0j9vNg/w-d-xo.html T8 is a fairly heavy braking zone, and the bike is pretty compliant.
@@mk3brent I’m assuming my bike ddc is working properly, it only has 4,000 miles on it. I ordered new tires pirelli 3’s and I’ll see if that has an effect because the front has very uneven wear from previous owner. I’d like to make a video explaining this process for people struggling with this problem as there are many.
@@stevewill3572 From my experience, I couldn't feel any changes selecting different suspension modes on the bike when my preload adjustments were way off. It was night and day once I got it in range. Check your sag and everything, but throw a simple ziptie on your fork and see what sort of travel you're getting. Also check your air pressures. Are you riding on track or is this on the street?
Great stuff! I just picked this bike up and I’m having some issues with instability in corners, yours is super planted. Can you share your weight and sag settings to help me please! I weigh 185
A shirt that matches your tools and extinguisher is a nice choice. :) Fire extinguisher races at the next event.
B-rent, the man with the van! Pit Bull stand...Graceland edition. That thing looks fast just sitting still. Microphone is a little buzzy in the middle. I also do 1500 mile cycles on my oil/filter changes on the track bikes. Foil trick...I do that. :)
Mic is a little hot. Will adjust on the next ones. Pretty nice they have volume compensation on the receiver so I can tune that in. 👍
I'm more of a Alien generator guy. :) Nice vid! These seem to last forever and people love them. Air fryer? Do you take lunch orders?
BYOHP (Hot Pocket)
I love me some Superlite stuff. Blackstone rocks. I use them too.
Did you fabricate that dash.? Glad to see your back in track shape and keep the videos coming as well as which track your riding next.
Hey Chris! No, it’s part of the S2 kit I have on the bike. I will definitely post some videos when I can.
Know what weight fork oil came out, went in? And it may be worth noting ride height, especially on the back. 10mm longer shock may be a LOT of ride height.
I went back to the Penske shock. Fork oil should be the 125/150 again. But would check.
