We'll take your word for it that it was a phone call. But I've seen cars transmissions go out, or some other mechanical problem, where they have to slow down and pull over rapidly. At least she(?) used her indicator. Rather than just leaning on the horn, you could have, you know, taken evasive action by braking and increasing the separation.

Hard to tell if there was enough shoulder to pull over on the right - if there was, that's where she should've gone. If not, the proper action would've been to start the signal and let up on the gas to allow the vehicle on her left to pass, then change lanes behind him. Instead, she accelerated past him (which suggests it wasn't a mechanical problem) and then cut him off with barely any time to react. I'd have leaned on the horn, too.

What we see are brake lights so it's not a transmission "going out". The only thing that makes brake lights come on is a foot on the brake pedal. However, yes, if I were in this situation which I have been many times before, I change lanes to the right to remove the "follow too close" situation immediately. This usually causes the average bozo to floor it for "fear" of being overtaken.

I know those roads so well I can almost do it with my eyes closed. Great to have a video of it. You were so close to my place when you stopped in colonial cct in wauchope. I drive it a minimum of 300 times a year for 30 yrs or more.
