Where is the powder exactly?
When you demonstrated going wider, your tips moved apart as much as your feet. The extra edge engagement is what made you stop, not making a wider triangle as you are tying to explain. This is the part where a beginning skier leans backward and looses directional control. Instead of a focus on rotating the skis into a pizza shape, tip the skis on edge while spreading your feet and feel how the edge drag twists your skis, boots and feet inward.
Watching this tutorial before i ski first time 😂
Thank you for this video. Today I went skiing for my first time in Virginia, United States. I had gotten a group lesson, and I was leading my group surprisingly for a first timer and was feeling very confident. I proceeded to do a green with my friends but I just sped up way to much even though i was doing a snowplough. I ended up nailing a fence, and wiped out. Any tips for turning better? I have been taught to lean on the ski opposite of the direction I want to go, but my back ski just does it own thing. I don’t know what to do, and was hoping you could help. Thank you for this video.
Impressive! What kind of magic camera do you use?
I learned without ski poles
That’s great advice! Was looking for a tip on this
Thank you. I’m glad it could help 😀
If you can get your ski boots aligned you will discover a whole new understanding of the mechanic.
If you are a beginner skier, you need to learn how to hockey stop and side slip. I recommend learning these skills on very short skis. You should not be skiing fast if you don't already know how to ski.
Any one knows where in eastcoast of US there're long slopes like this?
Mate. This advice is amazing. Thank you
How is this filmed?
Insta 360 selfie stick 💪🏻
great
This is literally the best 4 min ski for beginners video ever. Thank you so much, your explanation was just so clear 🙏🏼
Great ski suit. Wanna share make and model? or link. . Regards.
What brand is your gear?
Head skis and boots. Komperdell poles 👍🏻
There's always the wedge...
Do you know why your skis are so nerves on the snow?
Why do i go backwards when im almost coming to a complete stop. What am i doing wrong?
Towards the end of the video - ‘roll over’ means sliding on the edge of the skis?
Yes. Rolling the ski sideway onto or off and edge.
Went to steep slope just like how its described, my inner ski got stuck in snow could not get it flattened resulting in wider wedge. Therefore, i could not turn. But it did save me from falling. Very important point made in this video to do side slips and go on edge as needed to come down with control speed.
Awesome video! I've watched so many videos about skiing moguls and this is the best one for sure
Thanks a lot for the tips!
What are you even staying
@Chris-de2qc uhhhhh youtube did a dumb thing again. It's a bug where when I post a comment it goes to the next video in the playlist. Sorry
Do you have a dominant side? For me as a beginner, I find it easier to the left than the right.
close your mouth
Thank you for the insight 👍
Cool demo.. thanks bud
Very helpful and makes total sense to me Thanks.
Thank you 😀
Dear Sir, it's not to much edge. It is an absence of ankle flex. A straight ankle is the issue you are realy addressing. Go back to sharing what 'you' are realy feeling. You are close.
Because of the boot and the binding. The boot will always be perpendicular to ski. Just bending the ankle isn’t the correct plane for edging the ski. To edge or not edge the ski, the ankle and feet knee to roll sideways.
Dear Sir, please do consider, if there is no ankle flex - there can be no use of the forefoot (instep/ball of foot/big toe). The knee must remain in line with the hip & foot to maintain correct knee joint alighnment. Bracing the foot to direct the load from the body - can only be achieved with knee over toe. (ANKLE FLEX). You cannot 'tip' the knee. You can angulate at the hip...
@@WilliamdeVanney-i1m dear sir, please consider making a video of your own explaining this process, you seem to be an expert on such matters
Brilliant description nose over pinky
also i learnt after having a very weak snowplough is that due to my feet's high arch i wasnt pressing on my heels and instead putting pressure on front foot. Breaking comes almost back of the the skis than from front. Also being heavy( 94kg and 192 cm ) and tall will make it so much more harder to do snowplough so after resonable attempt just go parallel and perfect the advanced stops
This is the only video on TH-cam that allowed parallel turning to “click” for me. Incredible teaching!
Thank you that’s great. I’m glad it helped 😀
Same here!
Hey I've been binging your stuff to get ready for the ski season and I was wondering, what are some tips to make sure your stance is perfect? Last time I went I was more bent over then bent knees if that makes sense
Hey. Thanks that’s great to hear. I’m glad it’s helping. With the stance thing. Do a couple of jumps and if you can get the tip and the tail of the ski off the ground the same amount at the same time. Then your in the middle of the ski 👌🏻
@skicoachingonline Thank you so much.
My "Instructor" aka the school teacher assigned to the newbies was like yeah you need more edge but in turn i needed less was confused why I was always slingshotting myself when I tried to turn
My wifes pro-skiier big brother and dad is going to take me out tomorrow for my first ski session. If I die on that mountain pls cry for me
🎉🎉🎉
Dude, how short are your skies? When I was in my prime, 35 years ago, we skied on 200 centimeter skies. In the bumps.
Poles don't help me
I didn’t know how to stop and I was flying down a mountain and i fractured my nee
really nice shots wih the matterhorn on the back! What's the area?
This reminds me of the first time I went down an actual ski run. I have come late to skiing, starting in my 50s, and when the world's most patient instructor took me off the bunny hill and onto the easiest green on the mountain, I clung to him, screaming, and side slipped down pretty much the whole way. (I have made progress since then; that poor man was not getting paid enough to teach my uncoordinated arse to ski.)
I’m currently going down a mountain and there is a 150 ft drop at the end, but I can’t stop. Hopefully there is not an ad for this video
💀
😂😂
💀💀
Stop confusing us, what in god's name do you mean front of the heel? I'm assuming it's the balls of your feet? Again, this video is utterly confusing and incoherent. I've listened to plenty of non-native English speakers who can get their point across without me scratching my head to understand them. I have never listened to an English tongue that I wasn't fully engaged in and more importantly comprehending on every level except for you!
Some guy wasted at 1:13 behind
Lol
Gonna be saying "nose over outside toe" every damn turn today
Thank you!
Great "lesson". Three Valleys in a few weeks and can't wait. Great to have these tips to break in again. Thanks!
On empty slopes really enjoying carving a turn until you literally skiing slightly up the slope, back into another turn and you have burnt off a lot of speed.
Yes it’s a lovely feeling 😀
@@skicoachingonline How I was taught, Part 1, turn your skis down hill, Part 2, turn your skis up hill to bleed off speed. Control comes at the end of your turn.
mate you mike is cutting off here but your videos are still on point!!! cheers!!
Yes, frustratingly it was very windy. That’s the best I could get. I’ll get it sorted better next time. Thanks 🙏🏻
I was thinking how amazing it is that you're going down a steep ski slope, holding a selfie stick with a camera and instructing at the same time and how difficult that is in itself.
@frogmarch1000 I’m slowly getting used to it. But yes the longer videos I can definitely feel my arm getting sore 😂
@@frogmarch1000 good but 'amazing' is a bit much...
😂
Great tips thanks Steve
Thanks Adam 😀
Great tips! Trying to get back to ski after 8 years snow boarding.
