BRYCE CANYON NP Walk-Along SUNSET - QUEEN VICTORIA - NAVAJO - WALL STREET - 2024 Summer Ep6 4K
Another "bucket list" hike! This time I'm on one of the most famous loops in Bryce Canyon National Park - Sunset to Navajo Trails and Queen Victoria, then up Wall Street. We start the day leaving the motorhome headed for Sunset Viewpoint via the Rim Trail, then it's down into the Bryce Canyon Amphitheater Bowl beginning at Sunset Point. However, the weather cooperated with partly cloudy skies that shaded us much of the hike. It was a typical Summer weekend Sunday with LOTS of traffic on the trails. But were there too many people? For me the answer is no, because I think they add interest to the video. Listen to everyone talking as I pass them and let me know in the comments how many languages you hear! Definitely seemed to be allot of international visitors at Bryce Canyon that day. Once again this day of hiking presented stunningly beautiful scenery. I hope that as much as I did and the experience of this video, presented as always with natural “in the moment” audio and no added music…
Every year we take our 2004 Bluebird Wanderlodge M380 motorhome on an all-summer excursion to escape the brutal heat of Texas and the Desert Southwest. Besides the big rig motorcoach Ride-Along's between our campground locations, you’ll also find fun & sometimes challenging off-road tours in our well equipped 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and sometimes hiking adventures there are often bucket list items left unfilled for me. ALL with “in the moment” live commentary and NO added music.
Don't forget to LIKE & SUBSCRIBE so you don't miss our next adventure. I hope you enjoy this video & thanks for watching!

BIG COACH RIDE-ALONG Zion NP thru The Tunnel to Navajo Lake & Bryce Canyon NP - 2024 Summer Ep5
มุมมอง 338วันที่ผ่านมา
Join us for a 2004 Bluebird Wanderlodge M380 ride-along! First we depart Zion’s Watchman Campground in Utah and immediately transit the world famous Zion-Mount Carmel Tunnel, to the East. Special procedures are the norm for large vehicles like our motorcoach and there's some anguish as we approach the seemingly too small opening of this nearly 100 year-old tunnel. An added issue with our GoPro ...

The Narrows was a required exercise, even though I was still a little sore from the Angels Landing hike. That mild muscle pain dictated a short hike through the first deep area, and I will save a longer visit for the next time we’re in Zion NP. After that brief hike, I rode the Lectric E-Bike back down the hill from the last Bus Stop to our Watchman Campground site. Starting at about 5 min into...

    Way to go Van! I'm about to turn 65 and in pretty good shape. I spent my career in the commercial roofing industry as a technical rep/estimator so was on probably over10,000 roofs. Heights not a problem but OMG some of those climbs are insane. All I could think of where's OSHA, and I started when safety was an afterthought. Great job and keep the updates coming. ps - I'm a WOG member and met you briefly at the eclipse rally

    Beautiful area, although we generally avoid it in the middle of the summer as it's too hot for us 😲 We've driven RV's through the Mt. Carmel tunnel about 10 times over the past 30+ years of RV'ing with 3 different coaches. A 30' gasser, 38' DP and about 6 times with our current 40' coach. Never an issue although they make us disconnect our Jeep. 🤔 Which makes no sense as it is so much smaller and goes where the coach does. 😉. They told me it's because of the switchbacks, but those switchbacks are not that tight, much less than say Teton Pass which we've done with the Jeep connected. Still a pretty and scenic drive. Mike

      @@zmotorsports62 Next vid will be coach ride-along thru the Tunnel, on our way North. On that move I felt much better having done the dry-run shown in this video. We too had to disconnect our “little” Jeep. Loved our Watchman CG, though the 30a service was a challenge with the warm low elevation Summer temps.

      Is a short trail with lots of small rocks. However the obstacles were not that tall last year. Take your time and you’ll be fine. The scenery around that lake is worth the effort. Watch those mosquitoes at the end of wheeled trail end, they were vicious when I visited.

    • @williamlutsch4259
      @williamlutsch4259 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@NoGasWelcomeAboard we ended up NOT doing slide lake YET. The fire issue would keep us from camping that night. We did, in fact, fish the Arkansas outside of Leadville and then took the tremor over Mosquito pass. Not highly recommended in a stock suv/truck unless you have higher clearance, skids and a set of skills. Knocked the skids a couple times but came through relatively unscathed. Beautiful views up there. Have you been?

      When I did Slide Lake last year, the lake was deserted and fish were jumping after the mosquitos. My hike was spur of the moment thing so no equipment. The trail was hike-in only between the parking lot and lake, as shown in the video. Also did Mosquito Pass last year, but was a little early and Fair Play side of pass was blocked by snow - th-cam.com/video/0lj421HGJXM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mnZGGFdmL66LHuaC. Am in general vicinity of that area right now & planning on revisiting Devils Punchbowl this next week. If you haven’t seen last years “9-Point U-Turn” video, check it out. @NoGasWelcomeAboard 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks, not pretty but highly functional! No, sorry I do not. Years ago I literally threw the table together from spare materials (hence the chip board side walls). Since this video, I have cut the original table down to reduce weight & size while maintaining the same 1” thick landing zone surface that still accurately duplicates real table action. Current basic table measurements are: 29-1/2 W x 24” D with the patten surface at 22” W x 18” D. Sidewalls are the same height as the alligator wall. I find this size to be perfect, as my tosses have become more accurate over the years. It all folds compactly and is easier to load in my RV, since the weight is also reduced. I hope this helps!

    What size lift and tires did you have on this trail?

    • @NoGasWelcomeAboard
      @NoGasWelcomeAboard 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My earlier answer this thread to @Marty1911’s query answers that more fully… in short I currently run with 35’s & a “published” 2” Mopar lift (it’s really closer to 3” all around). A few of those shelf drop offs might’ve been slightly easier with a longer wheelbase 4-door. However I wouldn’t try those without some sort of stinger mounted in the hitch receiver, to protect the spare tire & the rear door tire mount. My stinger is a simple ball mount, turned “up” that extends the width of the spare tire. It has a few scrapes on it!

    @NoGasWelcomeAboard Is your felt directly ontop of the 5/8 plywood or do you have some kind of padding between the two?

    • @NoGasWelcomeAboard
      @NoGasWelcomeAboard 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Sorry so long to answer… Have tried several variations. I try to duplicate the bounce and feel of my local casino tables, which are fairly hard with little bounce. First, I use birch plywood as it is harder than standard plywood. Then I experimented with various underlayments. Closest I could get is one or two layers of thin microfiber “felt” under my microfiber patterned top. When I tap my finger on the casinos table, the feels is very similar. When fastening the cover, pay attention to how tight you stretch the material. Too much results in a trampoline effect. Hope this helps…

    Crew chief at UH in 78 / 79 they were heady days. A fantastic jet loved working on the 111’s. I also crewed A10’s at Myrtle Beach in 77 / 78 when they first came intro the USAF. Maintenance friendly to say the least.

      @Jonny5443 The 111’s speed & capabilities in the air were amazing. At the time and to this day, its pure speed on the deck was unmatched. However, it took many many hours of maintenance for every one that it flew. Crew Chiefs & Pilots have a special relationship. Those cocky young pilots who borrowed your jets may not’ve told you directly, but we all appreciated what you did to make it happen. Thank you!

      Love everything about the 450 and looked them seriously a decade ago. However my NF style of camping dictated something more compact & maneuverable. Our 380 has been the perfect compromise. Bob’s coach is parked directly across from ours - she’s beautiful! That episode will be out in the next few weeks as I’m trying to get rally specific videos out during the actual rally. Thanks for watching!

      You’re so right! Have met more than one multiple generation family here at the rally (like father-son), both who own Wanderlodges. Very few coach brands can claim that distinction.

    Great video. What tire size and lift did you have?

    • @NoGasWelcomeAboard
      @NoGasWelcomeAboard 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      35” Nitto Ridge Graplers. Their noise and ride on the street has been outstanding. 35’s are the largest size one can do without changing the gearing. They are also mentioned by the factory as fitting without modification to the Rubicon wheel well clearance. Now that my 3 year factory warranty is done, I am considering 37’s when these wear out. However, doing that would mean modifying the gearing. When one starts doing stuff like that, other mechanical issues and suspension challenges must be dealt with. My Mopar lift is less radical and was installed about 2 years ago. I choose Mopar to keep the Jeep bumper-to-bumper warranty in effect. That kit is advertised as a 2” lift kit, but actually added right at 3” all around. With the type of wheeling I do, not sure whether I really need to go the the next level. Will face that question in the next year or two… Thanks for watching!

    Nice ride along. I have done it 3 tiems but skip all the optional obstacles. Yes, 2 women rolled and burned to death at the Tip Over Challenge spot. They were in an ill equipt and faulty Polaris. When it tipped, all the gas spilled out and immediately ignited before they could get their belts off. They had not chance. Those off-camber hills are no joke and there are many in Moab. Chicken Corners is my favorite trail- scenic and not too hard at all. Fins can be fun- not too bad but has a couple of tricky spots too.

    • @NoGasWelcomeAboard
      @NoGasWelcomeAboard 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Obstacles are ok for those who enjoy them. Some of the trails we’ve done can be challenging. There’s always a temptation for the inexperienced to go beyond their ability and/or their rig’s capabilities. Our time in Moab last year went way too fast!

    • @MOAB-UT
      @MOAB-UT 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@NoGasWelcomeAboard Ok does not mean safe. People can chose to play dumb games- if, as you say they enjoy them. I used to ride a motorcycle (20 years) at speed, sometimes in the rain and in the dark, next to 18-wheeled trucks. Not safe- but yes, I enjoyed it. I sold it whils I was way ahead. Yes, newbies get caught up in the excitement and can get themselves and others in trouble. Agree, Moab trips always fly by too quickly. ..which is why I have been six times and counting! Chicken Corners is my favorite trail.

    I have a Fleetwood Discovery and ive just learned from you guys that i cannot leave the motor alternator charging my Lithium battery from it, i guess ill have to do the same thing with mine, disconnect them from the alternator an charge them with the Victron DC to DC charger that way i wont burn my alternator and i should maybe isolate the 3 batteries "200ah" so if one bms not working properly it can be disconnected from the rest. Thank you for the great explanation and why you did it that way. Now i know i cannot start my motor from the house battery 👍👍👍

    • @NoGasWelcomeAboard
      @NoGasWelcomeAboard 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Glad it helped. Installed my Li’s before last Summer’s trip. Very happy with their performance as we off-grid camp allot. Separating mine from engine charging was easy. Chris’s not so much. Having solar makes Dc-Dc alternator charging less necessary. But can be beneficial depending on your style of camping (shorter stays with more driving).
