      @@WhiteJadeProductions they’re great. This adapter gives the frame three dimension feeling. However, it seems like the adapter decreases the sharpness and most importantly the contrast of lens. Also, the green fringe is a little annoying. How do you cope with these problems. Do you think it is still worth it. By the way, I really like its anamorphic ratio, 2:1 is the best. Swirly bokeh and distortion are what I’m looking for.

      @@ononmuduri5107 part of the contrast reduction is the black mist filter I used. The adapter takes on characteristics of the lens so the Nikon lenses I used already have swirly bokeh and a bit of CA. you can stop down to f4 and most of the color fringing disappears. I have a video coming out this week comparing different lenses and stops for how to control it!

This camera is 12 years old, so it has quirks and character all its own, but I’m finding the M6 Mark II covers most of what you need that you’d find in newer RF mount APSC cameras, where the EOS M is great for raw video and vintage characteristics, without the expense of other high end cinema cameras.

You said that when people are trying to emulate film etc (or in fact emulate the look of anything IMO), they are all focused on the camera/sensor and not the lenses. Don't even get me started on how many times I have heard "The Creator was shot on an FX3", but never any speak of what lenses they used or what they did in post. And then people whine when their FX3 doesn't make their video look exactly like The Creator. I love vintage lenses. "Their imperfections are what make them perfect". That's my quote. You can have it for free haha. Thanks for the video dude. Subbed.

      Ahahaha i think we are DEFINITELY on the same page here! I totally agree on focusing on the glass. Of course Sony users would have trouble recreating the look of the creator. It’s all about the person behind the camera and the gear used in tandem with the camera itself!

    Its not all about price but quality. I use old pentax lenses on fuji because they have basically better image quality then my modern funi lenses

      100% agree! I just used some of the lenses i talked about in this video on a short film, and they worked fantastic for what we were aiming for!

    Do all of these lenses need adapters? If Im using a Nikon D810, are adapters necessary for vintage lenses?

      yes you do in fact need adapters! i’ve bought some for nikon cameras for about $10 i think!

    Ngl if I had a lens with funghi I would never put it on my camera, the small but not 0 chance of them infecting my other lenses are too large. My tip is putting them close to a window so the funghi can die from the UV

    • @WhiteJadeProductions
      @WhiteJadeProductions 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      you shouldn’t have to worry much about that! most fungi grows inside the lens elements so it won’t infect other glass. any fungi on the outside of a lens can be easily removed!

    Vintage lenses are great for cost and for good manual focus experience. They are horrible in other ways, for example, you lose the weather resistance of your camera because there is no way to adapt vintage to modern with a water tight seal. Of course no autofocus is another big deal, but it depends… I enjoy autofocus so that’s another negative. In short, I’ve had many vintages lenses. For telephoto for example, vintage is the way to go. It’s way way way way way cheaper to go vintage than to buy a crappy modern zoom to do telephoto with.

      true weather proofing does get tricky. I believe some adapter have gaskets but that gets expensive too ahaha! it very much depends on what you are doing! I shoot mostly narrative film so weather proofing, autofocus, and form factor aren't much of an issue.

    If you want a relatively cheap practical anamorphic look, I highly recommend the Vid-Atlantic CineMorph filter. It's like 80 bucks and works on any spherical lens (of course something like a Helios would be best though). It creates oval bokeh & horizontal flares. But you can also create a similar DIY filter for cheaper with some paper with an oval cutout & thin fishing line.

    I like your vocal presentation and explanations but at no point do you cut away to b-roll to demonstrate examples of what you are talking about.
