I think the basic issue is that you’re expecting all RPG, versus the half-RPG, half-Visual Novel formula that Atlus has been iterating on since Persona 3. The text you felt yourself skipping past contains stuff we eat up like ambrosia. We enjoy the time limits they set up and fret about not being able to see everything before the next chapter rolls around. If you’re in a non-stop action mindset then you’ll probably have issues with the Hashino-led Persona games, because they are deliberately not that.

I'm 3 hrs into this game as a Persona fan this doesn't hit the same. There are similarities but M:RF is more like a best of Atlus type of game. I thought I would like it more than Persona so far it's just okay

You need to play Persona to really understand what everyone else is talking about. But considering your complaints, which are seen in every Persona title, I can tell you that you won't enjoy any of them. THere's nothing with that. Everyone has their own preferences, and you implicating them, at least from my understanding, tells me that you are going to struggle to enjoy the other titles

I think if you didn’t like the humans you either didn’t get or didn’t care for the metaphors they were going for. Overall good review. The sticking points were fair and annoyed me too. However I would have shouted this games writing and voice acting from the highest rooftops. The cast is diverse and all nailed the assignment. The villain is one of the all time GOATs. I also thought on hard difficulty the game was tuned so perfectly. Every battle from beginning to end I never felt too strong or too weak. A misstep could mean game over, and clever strategies with proper preparation felt very rewarding.

Can't agree with the conclusion. But hey, everyone's got their own taste.

Teaser for control 2 🔥

The dlc was pretty damn good, gonna have to disagree here. Control’s second DLC focused on wake’s shenanigans and really didnt have much to do with the actual game it was in so it’s only right for AW2’s dlc to focus on Control and the FBC acting a fool. Pretty fair

I did enjoy it hell of a lot more than Night Springs DLC, I have to agree though that I didn't felt satisfied after finishing it as I was of expectation that it would push the main plot further, but it was mainly just an episode to expand existing lore. It had some teases to Control 2, but considering how I'm not that into Control, it didn't excited me in the slightest. If you go in this DLC with no expectations of furthering the plot, it should end up being looked at more favorably. I did like the presentation, there were some interesting set pieces and I enjoyed environmental storytelling, but, like you said, it relied a lot on it through reading text entries. Overall, I'd give it a 6, maybe a 7.

This game is far from the worst gaming disaster ever, there have been projects with more money invested into them over the decades and they have failed spectacularly. Lawbreakers , evolve and ET to name a few. This game’s biggest issue was that it was a hero shooter in a market over saturated with those types of games

I love games that have a complex & compelling story the way Silent Hill 2 does, where even once you've beaten the game, you're still left pondering everything that happened. A lot of the fun comes from trying to piece everything together in a way that makes sense, but I think everyone will have a vastly different interpretation of the story and its themes, definitely the type of game me and me mates could spend hours talking about our own interpretation of the story & themes. I especially loved Eddie and how he was portrayed, clearly very insecure about his weight and the way others perceive him, but there's a lot said about his character without ever actually outright saying a word. One of my favourite moments that highlights Eddie's insecurity is when he's eating ice cream and James says "Glad to see you've got you're appetite back", James is being quite genuine here, but Eddie's expression changes, he almost looks annoyed and offended, instantly stops eating, it's clear that despite James being genuinely glad to see him in better spirits, Eddie takes it the wrong way, likely believing that this was James making fun of him like everyone else. Eddie is also someone you're instantly suspicious of, and he grows increasingly more odd, suspicious and more unhinged as the story progresses until he finally snaps, and Eddie's boss fight was surprisingly really good and I found myself dying to him at least 6 times, he was really hard to see shrouded in the cold mist. Something the game implies is that Silent Hill and the Monsters within are perceived differently depending on the person, Angela pretty much confirms this at the end, implying that she says Silent Hill as a place that's constantly on fire, in fact; what James perceives as fog, to Angela it might actually be smoke from the fires she sees, and for Eddie it's a cold mist, because every scene involving Eddie, you can constantly see his breath in the cold air, implying that Silent Hill is a cold place to Eddie, possibly reflecting a place from his past that's integral to his reasoning for being in Silent Hill. Regarding your criticism about James not reacting to the bizarre happenings around him, well @NathanFrank in the comment section pretty much summed it up perfectly, but something else to consider is Silent Hill is a manifestation of James guilt and desire for punishment, James doesn't react because he has already subconsciously accepted that whatever happens to him, is exactly what he deserves, in fact that is exactly why Pyramid Head exist, to punish James for his sins, and Pyramid Head only exist as a means to continue punishing James because it's what he feels he deserves. Once James finally comes to accept what he did to Mary and is ready to move on, Pyramid Head is no longer needed, because James no longer feels he needs to be punished, hence why the Pyramid Heads kill themselves. Fun Fact: Did you know that all the common enemies in the game are female? All of which represent aspects of James, Mary, Mary's sickness and James's sexual desires.

Thats maybe a foreshadow of what james did, not even feeling nothing when he gets into this situation, only after he knows the truth he actually feels anger and sadness

James not reacting to things is part of him dissociating just like him forgetting that he killed his wife that is how he copes, it's hes survival mechanism that how he coped during he's wife's illness. This plays into the games lynchian vibes were everyone you meet isn't quite their mentally, hence why they are drawn to the town because they are dealing with deep phycological issues.

This is a great game, but you’re spot on about the Summon and Smoothie menus. Even the option to make more than 1 of the same smoothie would be so much less tedious!
