This high level of Mozart performances of a younger Ensemble is remarkable! Ricarda Merbeth shows her high standard of singing Mozart! Simon Pirgu is still at the beginning of a great career.

Lott and Banse are sensational. I wish they got to do this in the studio.

Thanks for a great performance of 'Cosi'. Vienna still had a fantastic ensemble for Mozart-productions! I remember this performance very well. Ricarda Merbeth was still an excellent Mozart-singer.

What I found humorous about the 1950s performances was that Arnold van Mill, who plays Titurel, is actually younger than his son Amfortas, played by the Legend George London, by about a year!

Alles gut und prächtig bei den Herren. Moser souverän, Grundheber schön-solide, Jane H., die ich oft in Berlin als Amme und Ortrud hörte, eine wahre Wuchtbrumme, Inga Nielsen kommt manchmal scharf daher und bei Luana de Vol verstört mancher Wobbler. Ihre berühmten Vorgängerinnen von Lehmann über Schech, Goltz, Borkh, Ludwig haben so etwas vermieden!

She has a really warm and powerful voice but in my opinion, totally lacks the vocal characterisation of Isolde. The last part is pretty disappointing because she sounds more like vocalising a lieder than an impassioned Isolde longing to be with her love. And the last note of Lust is a blasting fortissimo, which confuses me even more.

C'est très bien dirigé, c'est vivant, l'orchestre s'en donne à cœur joie, les chanteurs sont au cordeau mais le tout sonne comme une musique de film Américain. C'est terriblement Hollywoodien... Un comble non? Mais cette œuvre est si riche et si difficile à mener à bien que je comprends pourquoi cette version est classée parmi les meilleures.

This is exceptional! The sound quality you are offering is great, it gives me the feeling of being monsieur Taube himself. It is by far my favourite recording of this beautiful but difficult piece, combining the advantages of the two famous studio recordings under Sawallisch and Böhm. Thank you very much for bringing these great artists so close to us.

At 55.40 , 18 bars of the music is missing (at the beginning of the ensemble "Du kundest nun...")

Use to work for 1 year together with Sergei. He was such a warm soul person. Like a sunshine. Still can not accept he left us so early.. So many years passed.. Still like yesterday..

Der Höhenstrahl Karl Friedrichs ist gewaltig, beispielsweise 41:35 oder 53:25 oder 1:07:04. Es war ja auch eine seiner Leibrollen. Schon bei der ersten Aufführung in Wien 1940 war er der Apollo gewesen, Strauss hat ihn darin bestimmt selbst noch erlebt.
