100 years ago, composers like Arnold Schoenberg developed a language of 12 tone composition, meaning that all 12 musical notes are used with equal weight so that no one note has enough gravity to feel more like a key center than the others. This however, is an 11 tone composition. Zero Fs Given. Clay Lyons - alto saxophone Chris Mosley - guitar Jordan Kowalski - drums Adam Czerepinski - Maruszc...

I've had The Grand for a little over a month now, and it's time to share my thoughts. 30.5" short scale bass made in Chicago, and lots of fun to play.

This is absolutely lovely!
Love this take. And you did it alone! My Brutha!!!!😊
This is rad! Very clever.
I take it this is not written in the key of F.
Amazing
Wonderful Adam. Has a lot of Satie flute vibes
Beautiful! How long did you wait? I'm in about 4 of 25-40 weeks. :-)
I think just two or three months during the tail-end of covid.
Their sound is too muffled, lacking life for my taste, but many people like it
Super nice.
Thank You. I'm running a German TH-cam Channel to tell people about Jazz Music and artists of our time, living with us on this planet. Jazz is alive. Love and have the Albums you showed. Thank You and keep on doing this for us. Raus in den Jazz
Nice Tenor sax. What Scale are you using bro!
Of course it all sounds great. But the sound is so unbelievably inflexible. It doesn't fit into any brass section. Bach, Mozart, Beethoven??? All too difficult. Even for Webern or Berg??? Sure, Marsalis set the standard. But not everyone who plays Monette now sounded better than Wynton's unrivalled Bach!!! 🤫🤫🤫😉😉😉
I don't think I agree with that. Wynton's LCJO trumpet section has always been a mix of Monette and non-Monette trumpets and sounds wonderful. Or Ingrid Jensen playing Monette in Maria Schneider's band while the others don't. Also this recording of Herseth playing Mahler 5 on a Monette while section mates do not: th-cam.com/video/InmENOL5zM8/w-d-xo.html
Im glad you gave Indrek kudos! He is a wonderful guy, and he absolutely ADORES his job. He is a friend of ours and he brought us on a tour of the factory, and to say that the factory is his child is an understatement. He cares so deeply for every part of the process and strives to continue improving the pianos, it made me jealous. I dont play piano, but his passion is so profound I couldnt help but have it rub off a bit. And thank you for the info!
Hey so Adam it’s a year later and still no video on this bass?
I've actually played this bass in several videos. Check out "Dream Sequence" or "Linus Has the Zoomies" on my channel.
@@adamczerepinski Sweet, thanks i will!! I just watched your video about you learning flute, another great video! Thanks for getting back at me! Gorgeous Bass!! I just finished my order with Fodera and Mike Bendy, I can't wait!!
we need full version rn oml 🎶
Beautiful bass! I have a 33” monarch 5 that I adore
Yeah I’ve really grown to love 33. Sold my last 34” bass yesterday.
@@adamczerepinski oh wow! Now thats commitment! I have a 33” hyperbass style fodera with 4 detuners cooking right now, cant wait for it to be born!
Alpha sounds really good
Thanks! I'm enjoying it.
@@adamczerepinski i hope you play chet song with alpha someday. It will sound awesome !
inderbinen sound amazing. I wish i can hear more sound on you. Thank you for share
Has anyone thats owns a monette tried a lotus? Theyre the most expensive hirns in the market and I wonder about the differences.
Great performance!!! And my oh my that bass looks stunning.
Yeah, crazy piece of wood. I smile every time I see it.
@@adamczerepinski Can´t blame you, that looks like their anniversary run with Japanese woods. Such a lovely piece of functional art. Congrats
Hiromi was trained by jazz legend Ahmad Jamal 🕯
You should discuss it with the members of Your band, check with their opinion in my opinion; Cool playing :)
Nice concise review. Sounds great. What's your signal chain?
Vintage Vibe -> Key Largo -> Focusrite 18i20. Basically direct into the audio interface.
@@adamczerepinski thanks for the reply. There is so much choice when it comes to mixers, it leaves me confused. Why did you choose the Key-Largo?
@@LostInFunk I don't know much about mixers - I think I just asked a friend for a recommendation and grabbed it. It was perfect for a long time but now I have more than three keyboards so I'll have to consider upgrading to a bigger mixer.
How lucky of me to have found this delightful rendition. Would love to stream this on Spotify or Tidal & definitely look forward to seeing more!
Thanks for the Info.
Over 2mins of wafle first... jeez!
you have a new subscriber, thanks so much for the sugestions!
Fantastic….WOW
Great suggestion on da Jazz LP’s
Dope indeed.
Should I expect to be able to negotiate with the dealer on an Estonia?
You can negotiate on all pianos except Steinway I believe. The price you'll get is very much market dependent though - really depends how many dealers you have near you, and how far away you're willing to travel to price shop.
Assuming they will negotiate, should I expect motorhome level discounts like 40%, or is the goal more like 20%?
@@flippendad3532 If you do some research you may be able to find out what the dealers pay and offer them a fair profit from there. I don't know for certain but I believe dealers pay roughly half the amount in the rightmost column on this page: www.pianobuyer.com/estonia
Good luck with what you do and with your music making. Hated your list mainly though except the Akinmusire lps. The main problem seemed to be that lack of a passport; you barely look beyond your back yard. Choosing so many american players, then the exception being Hiromi, who last time I saw played like a woodpecker hammering a tree. Take the blinkers off brother, check out what is coming from the Uk and Europe. Look at the releases from ECM, ACT and Gearbox for starters. They all issue vinyl, gearbox even use tube signal path recordings. Compare the outputs of Poland's Leszek Mozdzer and Marcin Wasilewski, Frances Michel Benita for starters.
Incredible video! You really deserve A LOT more views for this. I've watched a lot of favorite album list videos and this is by far the most well done.
It's true. Estonia pianos are fantastic. if you got the cash that is.
Even if you don't have the cash, they remain fantastic 😀
Lovely.
Love this beatiful song and your cover is great !
Impressive amount of new content these past weeks. Love it!
Thanks Chris!
I am a big fan of your playing and style, I think the horn really blends well with you. It is also inspiring to see that you have stayed consistent with your playing and that horn has kept up with you. I think a lot of manufacturers could not say the same thing. I would love to see a video about the monette mouthpeices and maybe the C flugelhorn you talked about. New to this channel but already a big fan.
Very nice
Keeping the groove without the drums looks wild. Good stuff.
Awesome!
Got a 2009 L190 last week from EU auction for only 12000 Euro😁
Gorgeous job.
Been waiting for something like this. Sounds great
What do you think of the L190 vs the Kawai GX3? People like to compare it to the SK3 which does make more sense but the SK3 will cost a lot more now where I can get a GX3 for 5k to 6k less than the L190 putting the L190 right in between the two. Truth be told, at my level of playing a GL30 would be enough but I don't mind springing for the next level up.
In my limited experience testing pianos, I prefer the SK3 over the L190. GX3 is a little more inconsistent - with the right prep work from a great technician it might be in the same tier as the Estonia. I've found I like some Kawaii's and dislike others even considering the same model.
Hi Adam! Thanks for your videos and congrats for your work! My name is Carlos Martín I’m from Spain and I also was looking a C trumpet and Flughel-horn because of something similar to what you explain. I have a Beck handmade C Flughel Horn and I’m super happy with the instrument. I attach a video where I play with this C Flughel Horn th-cam.com/video/CnTKBkaV220/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
Thank you Adam, great possibilities!
Beautiful version 🎉. I really enjoyed the Bass 😊😊😊❤
bass is the best instrument on every track, always :)
Great progress! I wonder if having a background with the trumpet helped you with air support, etc. I am at the 2 month mark but haven't progressed quite as fast yet. But having a blast. And thinking of picking up bass guitar sometime too! (currently also play piano/guitar).
Congrats on picking it up, and glad you're having fun!
How do you maintain your chops while performing on other instruments? The trumpet is a jealous type
I don’t! On the rare occasion that I say yes to a trumpet gig I have to drop the other instruments for the week leading up to it. Otherwise I’m only practicing 15-30 minutes a day and I don’t have real gig endurance.
