what's the meaning of life? | asking people on risd campus
Welcome! Here's a video I made for my Spring Spatial Studio Final. The prompt I chose was "The scheme of things," in which I chose to talk about the scheme of life.
I asked both students and staff one simple(?) question: "What do you think the meaning of life is?" Before asking them this, they were not aware that I would be asking them this question.
Additionally, I made sure each person knew that they could give me any type of answer -- funny, serious, etc -- as long as it was an honest answer. I also made sure each person knew that they had the option of showing or not showing their face in the video, hence why some people's shadows are filmed, or the side of their body, or their shoes.
It should be noted that many staff members and some students I asked declined to be interviewed for valid reasons, one of them being that English was not their second language and so 1. they did not feel as though they could fully answer the question the way they wished to, and 2. I would not be able to properly translate their answers due to me only being able to fully understand Mandarin and English. I felt that this was important to note.
I experimented with editing even more this time. Bear with me as I get better at editing/filming :') I'm still trying to find my own style, and I'm learning more and more things along the way!
I hope to make more videos about my life at RISD/in general, stay tuned!

FINGERPRINT - spoken poetry | waverly's diary
มุมมอง 55ปีที่แล้ว
This poem and video were both made for one of my assignments for Design studio. The prompt was to incorporate the idea of fingerprints, play around with the idea of scale, and think about what fingerprints mean to you conceptually, literally, physically, etc... This video, sitting at a solid 2.5-ish minutes, is actually the cut version. I believe I like this version just as much as the uncut on...
