    Very Very well said man. I took the Coding Dojo web development bootcamp fulltime, graduated last year, and all of this is very accurate. The MERN stack was easily the most useful stack. The instructor, (pretty sure his name was John), was extremely well spoken and really knew the ins and outs of the stack. I had Alfredo for the python stack, and Narciso for the beginning web dev stack, and they were both also extremely useful and great instructors. Python was rushed and all aspects were kind of shoved down our throats, but the overall topic was good. But, that just about covers all of the pros of it. The Java stack was a literal nightmare. Our instructor Shawn was absurdly unprepared, and was way too immature to be teaching tech. Some of my fellow cohort mates and I were able to solve algorithms quicker than he could and he was very uninformed every lecture. The entire JAVA stack was extremely jumpy and no concepts were actually taught, we were expected to know how to use OOP in Spring which was an entirely new IDE from the gecko as we were all in VSCODE. Career services was of no help at all, and everything they preach was easily found online literally searching :"how to get a job in software dev". If you want to learn nodejs and the fundamentals of react, its a solid stack. Same with the beginning front end web dev stack. But as far as everything else goes, I would advise against it, and spend similar money getting a degree from a local college or going back to Uni which is a MUCH better option.

Allyis secured a contract with Microsoft and I was one of the engineers they assigned to work on the project. Flatiron graduate here. Group projects should have been mandatory. Especially when learning GIT. They weren’t when I was attending. Ruby Rails was taught as a backend 2 yrs ago before Python…DSA should have been mandatory. They told us to just gloss over it after graduation. Hardly any live coaching for the online part time program. You’re essentially on your own. As a beginner, you may as well just Google the curriculum and learn yourself. Job placements for Junior SWE coding bootcamp grads are extremely scarce nowadays. Wish I could get my money back.

      There is no replacement for a 4 year degree. However an exceptionally motivated person can cross those boundaries. I have been given several offers for positions that "required" a degree. I've also been denied by positions that require a degree. I'm just being honest here, its not the path for everyone, but it can be the path for some.

Super helpful as there's just so much information out there it's hard to get a good idea who to trust and whose opinion one should take stock in. I appreciate someone with strong credentials like yourself sharing their opinion. Based on what you've seen so far in the bootcamps you've reviewed, if you had to choose today based on the factors you've evaluated (just the curriculum essentially, right?) , how would you rank your top 3 bootcamps? • @BennduR
      @BennduR ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jakemarquez3118 That would be a helpful video, sounds great. I have definitely checked reviews out on coursereport extensively, and have been checking with alumni on linkedin, comments on reddit etc, basically checking out every resource I can before I invest in one of these programs. Right now I have interviewed with a couple programs and been accepted into the hack reactor 19 week program, but am a little wary due to lack of published audited results, technical assessment, and the less than stellar curriculum review by you (taken with a grain of salt of course). I wonder if as a beginner I should just go ahead and start the HR program this march to get started right away or instead try and study 1-2 months for the codesmith/hack reactor 13/12 week programs since they seem to be a bit higher quality, despite their entrance being more competitive and not a certainty. Any chance you could weigh in?

    • @jakemarquez3118
      @jakemarquez3118 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BennduR Heavily summarized, I thought the HR 19 week program just had a lot of unnecessary topics added while the HR 12 week program looked a bit more streamlined. You should consider looking for job opportunities in your area and what skill sets they are expecting and cross referencing that with the curriculum. For example I went to a Bootcamp on .NET technologies because they are primarily used by Microsoft and I live near Microsoft corporate headquarters. Based on that (and tuition costs) you should be able to pick out the program that will best meet your needs - 19 week or 12 week. If I HAD to recommend one or the other I would recommend the HR 12 week program, but again, there are a lot of other factors to take into consideration aside from just the curriculum.

    • @BennduR
      @BennduR ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jakemarquez3118 Incredible reply, thank you. Do you suggest focusing so heavily on optimizing for local job opportunities? I was thinking re-location would be a likely possible outcome after I finished the bootcamp. (For context ,I would be a canadian resident attending remotely.) • @jakemarquez3118
      @jakemarquez3118 ปีที่แล้ว

I currently updated my resume and LinkedIn to apply for a leap program at Microsoft at the end of September 2022 and would love to start preparing for technical interview I only have two months to prepare and could dedicate 3 to 4 hours each day and 8 hours each day on the weekend the weekend Please I am overwhelmed and really need your help on what is best way to prepare . Should I use books , videos or ?? Remember , i have no foundation of algo and datastructure. I heard that leap program range technical question is between easy and medium to pass . At the end of the leap , you need to really prepare to get into Microsoft I would appreciate your feedback and for sure would give you feedback. Have a wonderful day
