Ooh sis you are so one with this topic! I hate when people say, “Girl if I was you!” SMH 🤦‍♀️! I literally just went through this phase with a friend and I just sat there and listened. Let her talk and cry 😢! She’ll get through it better without judgement and criticism! Good discussion!

I did! God showed me a few years ago that it’s separation time. We must be willing to let go and leave those who are in your family but are not loyal to you and will possibly either harm or even kill you! My own daughter tried to kill me! She was systematically poisoning me! I was sick for years! Achy joints to the point where I couldn’t walk! Hair fell completely out! Nauseous and fatigue and just weak! Finally 2015 I was diagnosed with Lupus & RA. And then it wasn’t until seven years after the diagnosis I finally realized that I was being poisoned! In my sugar and salt! I really should be dead! It’s written in the Bible: If anyone is not willing to leave both father and mother for my sake then they are not worthy of me! God said that he came to divide households. The Menendez brothers and others are not the only adult children who have killed their parents! You are only giving one side here. There are supportive good parents who are not overbearing and don’t get into our children personal lives, recognizing that they are adults. But there are adult children who want their parents to raise their children for them! While secretly behind the parent’s back they falsely tell everyone else that they don’t receive any help! Wanting all the credit of the children for themselves. But my daughter is a narcissist and I didn’t know that! I didn’t even know what the term meant until a year ago! And that was after I was aware of what she had been doing to me! I can’t ever allow her or her children back into my life! It’s too dangerous! God will not keep my life preserved a second time!

First time here, sage advice. Audio however not so good my laptop doesn't go that loud. Anyway I'm a dad going through this with my daughters and after researching the subject I've come across one thing I believe deserves mention. I was at first shocked and offended as I've read many parents are, when my eldest told me she wanted to break ties, I got angry, and it didn't go well. The thing I've since learned is that as parents in these times crazy as they are, we need to realize that human children and human interactions period have never before experienced everything modern we all are. My biggest point here is that my original anger at my daughter's ingratitude and disrespect, entitlement blah blah blah, have been replaced by the realization that we all are in extraordinary times and the old cultural norms are being questioned. To get my daughters back I have to try to understand the worst things I do to them and do my part to fix things, not blame them for anything. That part trips a lot of parents up because they feel like it's caving in to the kids just to get along, which it is sort of. But the real question is do you want your kid(s) back or not? If we do, then it means playing ball under the new rules and that comes down to parental accountability, making amends and working on ourselves. I wish good luck to anyone going through adult child estrangement, it is very hard to live with.

I love this, yes it's very important for one to take full responsibility of their happiness. Like you stated it starts with you, it ends with you and wherever you go you take you with you. It's important to individually & collectively to do a personal inventory on self, with taking others out of the equation or blaming others for their happiness, and become willing to give themselves permission to feel, heal and recover so they can find themselves and the joy they deserve within them.
