I recall around that time friends and I would venture from west county over there to ride go carts and there was like the final A&W in the region nearby........

Grew up in St Charles in the 50's & 60's. Crossed that old bridge hundreds of times. I remember my Dad & I following a black gal in a Chevy station wagon with fishing poles sticking out the tailgate. Every time she met another car, sparks would fly as she scraped the bridge. Cracked my Dad up. He said she "drove by sound" 😅😂

Bicycling over the bridge on the walkway was an exciting experience, with my butt slightly above the level of the guard rail.

I drove over this bridge at least once every year for back in the 70s to purchase fireworks around the 4th July. Thanks for the video, wow. I drive over the McKinley Bridge sometimes just for the nostalgia, because in this area that is the last of the old black painted steel bridges we can drive on, and I do believe it will be shut down some day soon and the traffic diverted to the popular street bridge as another newer bridge will be built. I use to love to get caught by the train that went down the center and cut you off on the eastside lol.

I remember being a little kid and going to visit my great grandma in St Charles coming from Florissant going over that bridge from the Rock Road. That bridge was sketchy and freaky, lol. I would have been in 4th grade dec 15th 1992 lol. Little guy. Now Im old lol.

I remember that it was a scary ride across. Also remember the party spot beneath it on the STL side. It's kind of sad that there is no mention of it (not even a little plaque) on the St. Charles side. I often walk the entire Main St. and I can't even tell where it was.

He is on 2nd street and makes a left turn on to Adams to get on to the bridge. That is where it was. Right by the court house.

in April 1994 I saw one of these take off from St. Louis airport as we were waiting for a another flight to Orlando, it was definitely a sight to behold. Easily one of the coolest looking aircrafts ever built with it's tail engine.
