Trains @ Leamington Spa - Thursday 24th October 2024
A few hours out at Leamington Spa on Thursday 24th October 2024. A fair amount of freight in the few hours I was there - plus the Chiltern Class 68s as well.
I stopped off at Dorridge on the way back and saw a 59 plus a couple more 66s...I've already posted that video... th-cam.com/video/4-HDprJAWjM/w-d-xo.html

To be honest, the 'not so' exciting stuff... We have a few Class 805 Hitachi 'bi-mode' units, a Class 730 on test and a collection of 350 units & Voyagers... As mentioned in a previous video, I stopped off at Wolverhampton to see a passing freight, so we have some 196, 158 & 350 units from there too.. Thanks for watching.. #class805 #class730 #class350 #class196 #class158 #britishrailways

I had spent a few hours at Leamington Spa and having had some 'issues' with West Midlands Trains over the last couple of days down 'The Dark Side' ("Never !!" I hear you cry...), I decided to get back into the West Mids whilst the going was good (although they had already cancelled the local service I was planning to catch back to Cradley, and the one I did catch was late..) Anyway - well worth...

The one with the Class 58.... I've posted the Kidderminster-Bridgnorth Class 58/20 turn previously, so include it here in order to get a complete picture of my day at Highley. Besides 58023 'Leicester Depot' & 20142 'Sir John Betjeman' we have 40106 'Atlantic Conveyor' (on a Bridgnorth/Kidderminster service) and 'Warship' D821 'Greyhound' arriving on a local service from Kidderminster #class20 ...

And this is why it's called the 'Dark Side'....the rest of the country seems to have proper loco hauled trains, whist we get MPVs... In this case we have 3S02 Kings Norton OT Plant to Kings Norton OT Plant via Birmingham New St/Leamington Spa/New St/Aston/Cradley Heath/Worcester/New St/Bromsgrove.... Plus some equally unexciting 172 units...

I know Liam...can't believe it's that time of the year already....!
Wish you’d of told me about this one!!! Nice catch Andrew :) 70’s are always rather loud aren’t they. Shame the grid wasn’t leading
@@LiamsLocos soz....I assumed you would still be stinking in bed...
Fantastic shot Andrew. Did you hear the whistling at Cradley Heath?
You could hear her from about Hagley I think !!
I recognise that first shot Andrew ;) Nicely captured mate and opened up just at the right moment! Old hill was one to remember
👍 👍 👍
very nice!!
I came here a day later on the 20th but unfortunately 11456 has had a failure that caused it to not take part in Fridays gala and got substituted by 75069
Yes Scott, seen your video...I was at Highley on the Friday too...
Nice catch this Andrew! I was up the bridgenorth end.
Another featureless metal box!! 🤔
Thanks Mr S - I'll sort out the Gala stuff after today....got to say I missed you (but it was very peaceful and quiet...)
Just watching what I couldn't get to see today!! But I did sneak out to see the power cars at Cradley!!
They looked good in EWS livery.
That's a great sight watching 58023 under it's own power. Can I share some of this footage please?
It’s very rare for 44932 to come and try the Severn valley railway And she’s the third black 5 to come to visit here after 44871 and 45231
Talk about beauty and the beast watched this for the 58 and a 52 stole the show
I’m happy to tell you this That loco 58023 is now joining the autumn diesel bash gala event Now hopefully it doesn’t break down as it did in last year in may where it failed to turn up at the Severn valley railway
Fingers crossed Scott....
@@andrewhadley2026I hope so Andrew
I caught that loco on the same named tour on the 5th of September at stoke works junction
Love the sound of the Hoovers,Westerns ,Claytons to steam Power,And a Class 58 ,Just wondering how many are preserved ❤❤
Thank you for the lovely video more videos please.
Thanks for a great video first time i ever saw a class 58 one was poking it's nose out off the paint shop at Doncaster works i thought at the time what the f,,,,k is that
Thanks Martin...yes, I remember seeing them being built too...and on test out of Toton & Tinsley....makes me feel very old now !!!
Why did they get rid of the 58s
Hi, very good video, nice to see a 58 still alive and kicking, I have a model of 58002-DOW MILL COLLIERY on my layout, a pity it's not the sound version... I was at the Kidderminster Diesel Gala the year before last, great weekend before I was given some disturbing news...hey-ho...
Good to see 58023 out and about and operating under its own diesel. Also good to see the Stanier Mogul there amongst the other locos, with all locos and stock nicely presented as is usual on the SVR. Nicely shot.
Excellent video my friends 😊awesome 😮 Greeting 😁 👋🏻 from Argentina 🇦🇷 suscribete
Thank you....
Nice video Andrew :)
Thanks!
Is 58023 now residential on the SVR?
I worked worked on them as a driver, a good locomotive apart frome a tendency to suffer from wheel slip
58.BRs new loco 'with huge export potential'. Total build 50 . No foreign sales. Soon rejected by EWS. Outlived by their predecessor 56s. Hardly the most successful loco of all time. BUT nice to see the class live on in preservation, too many classes, steam and diesel, with NO surviving representatives.
They weren't that terrible but they didn't set the world on fire either. I think they were much worse for wheelslip than the 56s under heavy load. I remember them well in the mid 80s as regular passenger performers along with the 56s on the Sunday birmingham to nuneaton drags of the euston trains, think I had 20 to 30 of them and 60.odd 56s too over the several years it was a regular event.
Good video mate ,great to see a Western out and about
Thanks 👍
Last time i laid eyes on that loco was when I was working on 58's out in France 2008/09
Strange Teddy Bear noises!
wonderful collection of diesels, very well turned out
Well, well. A 58 up & running, class and all! Excellent catch.
I know....was a bit of a surprise...
Test runs then loaded runs before there diesel gala I'm guessing
Yes, that's my understanding too...
Lovely watch this is Andrew! Great seeing you today :)
Thanks! You too!
What is it doing there the 58
The consensus seems to be general running in remedial work, plus it's the Autumn Diesel gala the begining of October, so whether it works at all then is to be seen...
these bones remind me of a pair of class 20s side on! Nice video of claggy hoovers a bone and some puff puffs 🥰
I looked out the window, could see it was issing it down, and stayed at home!! Just couldn't be bovvered. Well done you.
Thanks Mr S
I caught that loco further down the line at earlswood on the north Warwickshire line and this is the first time in 6 months for the Stratford flyer tour going to Stratford with 44871 once again taking charge
The coaches have killed it stone dead for me
@@AndrésMahou - exactly my thought..don't fit in at all...
Platforms ???? More like a nature reserve 😮
I know Ian....what impression does it make on the state of the railways..?
You didn't shout "thank you driver" as the unit bowled you!!!
No...but you can probably imagine what I was thinking...
It was a tad misty. Take a strimmer for the other platform next time!! At least I wasn't there to get you bowled!!!
It's ridiculous....although there seem to be a whole load of what look like sweet peas growing at the southern end of the main platform...they looked nice in the rain...just not sure where they would have come from...
Hope you remembered your inhalers?? 😂😂 Very 'dodgy' track rails on the left at the start of the video.... worrying that there is a live signal above it... not Dynac, I hope?? 😂 Finally, no shots of the Stourbridge Town Cat??
It never ceases to amaze me how 'rural' Stourbridge looks these days...when of course we know that couldn't be further from the truth...I have seen the cat wandering around in the past, but I think he tends to hide in the ticket office when it's busy... and yes, always have the inhalers...
Bloody annoying that alarm!!!! Lovelt catch thougg Andrew
Thanks Liam...you couldn't make it up...as soon as I turned the camcorder on it started...luckily, the train stopped at the signal for a fair while so at least I didn't have it all the way through..
@@andrewhadley2026 wonder why it has a red, unusual for the jct andrew
